I get why they'd want Lord Garmadon to return to being evil in the show. Mark Oliver throws himself into his evil speeches, bringing an amazing menacing quality to some of his speeches. The back and forth between Lord Garmadon and Ian James Corlett in the episode "Child's Play" is truly wonderful. Ian James Corlett plays such a good comic relief antagonist, while Lord Garmadon's speech as he reanimates the Grundle...it feels shakespearean. It sounds so theatrical that it commands my attention.
I like all the actors, to be fair. But I just think it's amazing how well he does. Mark Oliver does a good villian, so it makes sense they want him back as a villian. But they shouldn't have done that whilst negating the stories of Sensei Garmadon in seasons 3 and 4. I don't know if that makes sense as I wrote it, but I don't have time to overthink it. Especially since I leave for school sooner than later.
