AHHHH I’ve been so excited to share this sim!!!!! her name is gilda after the gilda stories (can’t recommend enough) and i’m obsessed with her. i’m so excited for this challenge bc i have a ton of vampire ocs hehe.

I’m working on my proposal for the 2nd LESC today. I have some vague ideas for what I want to write about so let me work through them here and tell me what you think.

- Postmodernism has failed to provide the intellectual, political or social framework for our generation to respond to the re-emergence of fascism. Moreover, in its destruction of fact as a basis for discussion, postmodernists have actually crafted the perfect conditions for fascism to flourish. 

- The pedagogy of critical thinking, which David Hayes does a great job of debunking in his article Against Critical Thinking, has been too readily adopted by European liberal arts programmes. In combining a postmodern rejection of the canon and in performing a shallow, aggressive form of critical thought for-its-own-sake, institutions have hollowed out the core of what higher education is for.

- Our generation is clamouring for depth in education. We are told by people who have had the luxury of reading the canon of Western literature and philosophy that it is in our own interests that we reject it, sight unseen. 

- European institutions have missed out on an opportunity to re-imagine higher education away from the failed intellectual desert of postmodern theories. A radical retrieval of metaphysical liberal arts could provide a comprehensive, philosophical education in which students are refreshed and challenged intellectually, spiritually and politically.

you’d be hard-pressed to find out how long martina, ronnie, and dominik have been together. it’s clearly been a while, though. the de facto mother of the lower east side clan, martina has a certain grace about her. she works part time as a fashion archivist downtown where the employees don’t ask too many questions.

ronnie, martina, and dominik have been a family unit for [redacted]. grumpy, hard-edged, and often harried, ronnie is a very capable and fierce leader of the lower east side clan. her softer side has emerged since falling for gilda. her companions claim she’s never smiled this much.

fun fact: ronnie loves movies, especially horror, and went through a phase of watching any vampire film she could get her hands on. she chose her last name after the star of one of her favorites, a girl walks home alone at night.

martina: love at first bite (mini bachelorette challenge) 🌹

new york city’s lower east side vampire clan is famous for their annual holiday party. each december, the clan puts on one of the most anticipated events across the supernatural community at the goulding hotel, their refurbished headquarters. as the clan leader, ronnie’s name is on the invitation, but it’s the clan’s matriarch martina who’s particularly enthusiastic about the celebration and works tirelessly to make it flawless. 

martina pacheo is happy nurturing and mentoring fledglings who find their way to the clan and working downtown at a fashion house. her true age is a mystery, but she’s got at least two centuries under her belt. martina was married to her mortal true love until his death a long, long time ago and hasn’t been in a relationship since. she’s a hopeless romantic at heart even if she’s given up on finding love for herself ever again. her clan decided to mark their hundredth holiday party by trying to turn martina’s head!

graceful, charming, and elegant, martina has an old-world glamour about her that draws people in. she’s broken plenty of hearts unintentionally without lifting a finger. thoroughly goodhearted, she loves her family fiercely & they adore her back, hence the clan’s little scheme to invite special guests in the hopes that someone will sweep her off her feet!

martina’s traits are good, creative, and art lover.

the rules:

- entrees don’t have to be vampires, but after the heartbreak of losing her mortal husband, martina won’t consider a relationship with a non-immortal. any immortal being is fair game, though, so feel free to be creative!

- must be okay with sims undergoing minor tweaks to “match” my game (just stuff like my eye and teeth presets)

- any amount of cc is ok, just gimme 1 formal outfit

- romance-oriented traits or aspirations are ok! story will most likely override game mechanics for me, though i’ll rely on that for the tough decisions :)

- will be accepting 7 entries of any gender 

- backstories encouraged! ramble! lemme read! pick one of martina’s friends and explain why they invited your sim if you want!

- tag entrees with #martina lafb

(i thought this would be really fun since i don’t have the commitment for a bachelor challenge even though i love them, plus i wanted to do something festive!)
