Laxus sitting off by himself at the Guild Hall, looking completely zoned out due to being in deep thought about something.
Freed of course notices this and quietly makes his way over to the Dragon Slayer, moving rather quietly so that he doesn't deserve the other's thoughts. He then leans in and gives Laxus a small kiss on his head.
The motion causes Laxus to blink a bit before he looks up at the green haired male, only for him to gently smile before he places an arm around Freed's waist and makes him sit down. Freed then smiles lightly and leans Laxus's shoulder and they both zone out together while enjoying each other's company.
so i just started watching fairy tail {as in, i'm fresh on episode 1, started} and i noticed you do magic matchups {which, by the way, super cute idea}, therefore, let's go~
i've said some of this before, but i like music, literature, history, and astrology, but also like adrenaline rushes, skateboarding/rollerblading, {can you tell i'm bad at explaining myself in matchups?}, and extreme temps. i dislike germs, mouth-breathers, bugs, and bland food.
i dabble in writing, guitar, reading, skating, sewing, music, acting, and dance. i'm talented in writing, music, foreign languages, and the like. obviously, i generally pursue things i'm good at kuhu. i'm also good at mimicry, i'm good at coping tones of voices and sounds, which is why i like languages so much. i tend to shift to adapt to my surroundings, but i always stay a bit hot-headed.
i suppose activity level is how active i am? i'd say i'm pretty average, i try to get out on walks and the like as much as possible.
i think i handle conflict well depending on what's going on. i've got a bit of a temper, but i try as much as possible to keep it under wraps because that's sort of how i grew up {cue the john mulaney emotions joke}. i'm usually the one starting a confrontation if i think something's wrong, but i also get into a ton of fights just over my rbf lmao. i tend to deflect a lot in verbal confrontations and bottle up. in physical controntation, i usually go on the offensive, but since i'm pretty small and slight, i just dodge around and jab. so it reallydepends, i'm quite flexible to my situations at any given times.
ooooh my first magic matchup, i’m so excited!! let me know how you find the series icarus, i’ll be more than happy to do more matchups for you as you get deeper into it ;D okay so from what you said (and what I know about you as a person), I can definitely see you using...
Letter Magic!
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
Come onnnnn you were practically a shoe in for this one! Letter magic has a lot of versatility, as it’s seen in all sorts of languages from English to Kanji to runic letters, and can be caster or holder depending on if the user writes it by hand or uses an external source/tool.
This fits perfectly with you and your love of languages, and I can easily see you manipulating characters from different alphabets—Korean, Latin, some ancient fantasy language you’d probably study just for fun—in unique ways that’d make you a skilled and unpredictable force to be reckoned with. Its variability also reflects your wide range of interests and talents, and can be used without having to touch others so you can easily stay free of germs ;P
Wizards that make use of this type are the famous Levy McGarden and Freed Justine it’s okay if you don’t know how they are yet shkwbshgd who are easily some of the most intellectual characters in the series. Remind you of anyone you know? One person definitely comes to mind for me〜 (hint hint it’s you smarty pants ٩( >ω< )و)
Though I see this type as one of the less confrontational types of magic, that doesn’t mean it can’t pack a huge punch, which I think would balance out your activity level and tendency to start fights. You’ll easily be able to go on both offense and defense, using words to send out attacks while potentially changing the conditions of the battleground, as well.
Your talent for mimicry might also cause you to dabble in a bit of copy or illusion magic, which is exactly as it sounds not much to explain here lmao, but yeah you’re scary to go up against for real!! Everybody knows to watch their mouth around you, no one knows when whatever you bottled up that day might blow forth and end them on the wrong side of a pen 👀👀
There is no one way to make a magical sigil, and every witch is different! I use multiple different techniques, so I thought I’d share them and my processes with you. ✨🕯
Hey Barber! I’ve been reading, studying, dispensing information for a while about the craft and similar practices. I write a lot of fiction and poetry utilizing folkloric elements and always manage to incorporate something I’ve learned. But my issue comes in actual practice, application. I’m not attuned to the land, nor have I done much magic. I’ve had the knowhow for almost 8 years, so how do you suggest I start? Also, any tips for incorporating my writing skills in my practice? Thanks!
Hey there 👋🏼
So I know it sounds redundant, but..start.
Pick something you’re doing already on the mundane front and use that knowledge you’ve acquired to try something. Magic is about tipping the scales in your favor, not just relying on it as the sole provider of your wants and goals.
If you want something simple and every day, get a jar, or bowl (I’ve got a small ceramic cauldron meant for baking a small dessert) and put a bay leaf and a piece of pyrite in it. Empty your pocket of any loose change into the container. Do it anytime you’ve got change and just leave it be. If you need change, get it from somewhere else, the main thing is what you put into the container stay in the container (so if times are rough, maybe don’t immediately stick in that $20). It’s meant to bring in wealth.
If you want a folk magic tie to hang your hat on, it’s a variation of a housewarming gift that used to be given to newly weds (I’ve referenced it multiple times through the years). Jar, add in salt, a coin (preferably gold, or silver, though copper does fine), and a piece of bread. Seal it and give it to the newly moved people, or the newly married. Salt so their life always has flavor, and purity. Bread so they never hunger, and the coin so they’re never poor. It’s also multiplied due to the wheat in the bread, and break barriers with the salt. The coin conducts energy and blah blah blah.
As far as incorporating your writing into magic, here’s a post about enchanted inks for spellwork
And a follow up post about enchanting letters as spells utilizing the inks.
Aside from that, take a look at your style and apply it to writing spells and incantations. Take notes on how the work out! Even a simple phrase or rhyme about parking, or finding lost items. Try it once, then again, third times the charm and means it may be something you use regularly!
Good luck dear, best way to start is to try something simple.
Do you have any suggestions/ideas for a literary-based quirk? Bonus points if it can be used for a hero! Thank you!
I only have a few, sorry, and they’re admittedly mostly from other sources.
You could draw inspiration from the various types of Letter Magic from Fairy Tail. It utilizes words written by the user to achieve varying effects depending on how it’s utilized. Take a look at that link, there’s several different versions, and the wiki can describe them better than I could. Some of them might not translate easily from magic to a quirk (as you’d probably have to actually write the words out instead of them appearing out of nowhere), but they’re great inspiration.
Next, you could look at Charlotte Mont-d’Or’s Buku Buku no Mi from One Piece. It’s basically the ability to control nearby books, but he can do some pretty cool stuff with them.
Well I had another idea, but it turns out it’s basically the same as Mont-d’Or’s “Hon” no Sekai technique, trapping the enemy in an illusion that they’re in the book’s setting. To take it to an extra level, you could make it so that the target actually has to work through the story itself until the quirk is released, they reach the end, or they break themselves out.
If you take a look at some of these different abilities, I’m sure you’ll find something that fits what you’re looking for.
F R E E D J U S T I N E 🗡📖 // Freed is such a loyal member of Fairy Tail, even during the Battle of Fairy Tail Arc he was hesitant to fight his members and even gave Lucy and Cana a victory during the S-Class Trials. His loyalty to Laxus is even more so. He’s a member of the Thunder Legion, or Thunder God Tribe, and it’s definitely one of the strongest teams within the guild. His magic is actually really cool and definitely handy in any given situation. He’s also very gay for Laxus. I would fight him for Laxus to the death if need be. [though if we’re being real I’d lose cause I’m only human].
I have so many requests to catch up on! T^T I’m so sorry, guys! Life has been pretty crazy. But here’s a WIP and a promise to you all that I’m working on them! <3
ponytail Freed + tank top Freed = yummy
Also, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE BIRTHDAY WISHES! May the Fourth be with you!!!
