My M4M cast was just talking about the "get thee to a nunnery scene"! We came to the idea that a nunnery is a place where women are protected and surrounded by other women. A nunnery is a safe space where Ophelia can go to get away from her father and Claudius and the corrupt state of Denmark.
That’s pretty much what I said in this post :)
But as I said in this post, it’s also worth remembering that it includes Hamlet’s misanthropic feeling that humankind is no good and needs to be terminated by stopping breeding, hence why a nunnery is a logical destination for an unmarried young woman to prevent her from reproducing.
I am going to Sleep No More for the first time in several years. I used to be a frequent visitor but money has prevented me from returning again until now. What should I know about how the show has changed?
remember when we called ourselves “InsomniacsDepending on when you were last there, a few characters have 1-1s that were not there when the show first began.
And you will likely not recognize very many people, if any.
Also, you may find that the way the audience collectively watches the show seems different. That is likely because even people who have never been before have heard that there is “a way to do it.” In the early days, we were all in it together in terms of having no idea WTF was going on. Now, in addition to the pros, or superfans, or regulars (Insomniacs???), it seems like everyone has heard that 1-1s happen, or know that they have to follow the actors closely to avoid losing them in a crowd, or whatever. “Bad behavior” is unavoidable, so just expect it and don’t let it get in the way of having a good time.
As the token Cis-Het friend and therefore speaker for the entire cis-het community, I'm here to tell y'all about the Straight Agenda.
