Lev is afraid of heights. Yaku finds this ridiculous at first. He even thinks Lev might be pretending to be scared. But he notices the way Lev trembles when they're at high places and the way his breathing becomes ragged when they walk through bridges. Lev pretends he isn't scared when he's with Yaku but notices.
"You don't have to pretend to be brave around me," Yaku says as he holds Lev's hand.
Lev stares at their hands and says, "I'm not scared," but Yaku notices that his voice trembles as he speaks.
"As if I'd believe that," Yaku whispers, not letting go of Lev.
"I really am not," Lev insists but tightens his hold. He moved closer to Yaku, and his trembling slowly stopped.
Yaku can still feel the sweat from Lev's hand, but he's happy he can calm Lev, even if just a little.
