Can we talk about this? At some point in comic book history, Conners half human heritage was not just a "well Conner isn't just fully kryptonian." but actually a genuine threat for Conner. Before this incident, he has no idea he can be controled by Lex. He doesn't even know if he has a soul. He has no idea what he is becouse he is one of the first clones (if not THE first clone) to walk free and have their own life.
