DinApril Day 24: A dinosaur that was named in the year you(r mother) w(as) born.
Welcome to DinApril 2025, where instead of recycling my list from last year, I made my mom come up with the dinosaurs! Our twenty-fourth day features a dinosaur that was named in the year my mother was born: Lexovisaurus durobrivensis! This female is standing next to a sign reading "1957", the year her genus was erected to house Dacentrurus durobrivensis and the year that my mother was born.
Lexovisaurus was an easy choice not just because it's a stegosaur, which are my mother's favorite dinosaurs, but because it's one of only two dinosaurs named from 1957. Not a good year for paleontology, that.
Coloration inspired by the Collecta Lexovisaurus from 2008, a toy that I actually own in real life.
Prehistoric life : the rise of the vertebrates, David Norman, 1994. Illustrated by John Sibbick.
I’m also quite fond of stegosaurs. From top to bottom: Ferganastegos, Hesperosaurus, Gigantspinosaurus, Miragaia, Huayangosaurus, and Lexovisaurus (with guest appearance by Eustreptospondylus in the back).

Name: Lexovisaurus durobrivensis
Name Meaning: Lexovil Reptile
First Described: 1957
Described By: Hoffstetter
Classification: Dinosauria, Ornithischia, Genasauria, Thyreophora, Eurypoda, Stegosauria
Lexovisaurus is a poorly known Stegosaur found in the Oxford Clay Formation in England, which probably contributes to the whole poorly known thing, because that’s actually marine sediments - meaning it washed up there. It lived about 164.7 million years ago, in the Callovian age of the Middle Jurassic. Other bones have been attributed to it, and in general it is something of a taxonomic mess, with only limited material known including vertebrae and a spike. Material assigned to the genus have also been collected from France, but given the fragmentary material, it’s hard to confirm that it’s the same thing.

Meet Beau!
This is Beau! Another dinosaur I made him because I love dinosaurs too much- He is Pauv's partner and overall just a little sweetheart!
I wanted Beau to be some sort of stegosauria, but I wanted something underrated since my boy Pauv is an Allosaurus, so I chose the Lexovisaurus! One of the smaller species of Stegosauria, and I thought it would go well to little Beau, who is considered a little clumsy and shy guy!
