Dinocember Day 3: Rhabdodon
Frozen with Fear
Rhabdodon for Dinovember. I'm actually pretty happy with how this one turned out!
I took a picture of the sketch because I was so happy with it but very concerned I would be significantly less happy with it when I colored it.
“Her love was like lavender, delicate and melancholy.” And i have no idea how your frontlegs actually worked under recent consense, my friend.

Early Rhabdodontid of Lower Cretaceous Europe
A newly-discovered and as-yet-unnamed rhabdodontid ornithischian dinosaur from Spain has helped shed light on rhabdodontomorph evolutionary history and paleobiogeography.
I made this illustration for Earth Archives - you can read more about the research there:

Name: Rhabdodon priscus, R. septimanicus
Name Meaning: Flooted Tooth
First Described: 1869
Described By: Matheron
Classification: Dinosauria, Ornithischia, Genasauria, Neornithischia, Cerapoda, Ornithopoda, Iguanodontia
Rhabdodon s another Iguanodont, closely related to Tenontosaurus and Zalmoxes. It was found in the Marnes Rouges Inférieures Formation in Spain, and also is known from France and Hateg Island in Romania. It was about 6 meters long, making it fairly big for its environment. It lived alongside animals such as Tarascosaurus and Pyroraptor, which may have preyed upon it and its young. It also may have been preyed upon by Ampelosaurus, Variraptor, and lived alongside other types of indeterminant dinosaurs, as well as Gargantuavis. Crocodilians may also have preyed upon it. It lived between 70 and 66 million years ago in the Maastrichtian age of the Late Cretaceous.
