✱ SCHISM — ( @lgckiha )
There were far more exasperated sighs floating around the vicinity of the Legacy building than typical as of late. It was not indicative of the usual exhaustion but of something increasingly tense. Seojin recalled the initial collective irritation ( with himself more disappointed and bored than anything else ). He knew how to adapt to the situation when it called for a mature take but there still persisted some younger trainees left to stew in a bubble of resentment and emotional immaturity.
Surely, he understood their gripes, listening to a small group of them ranting and airing their grievances as he gathered up the boy's dorm trash.
He hauled the large cart to the edge of the stairs, turning his head only when one of the trainees called out, "it's him!" To which another seemed to suggest the desire to give one Yoo Kiha a 'piece of his mind'. Seojin's expression shifted into one of befuddlement at the suggestion, his head shaking. "Nah," He put his hand up and waved off their protests, bringing the cart with him to walk after Kiha. "I'll go talk to 'im. You'll just cause everyone an even bigger headache."
This would not be the first ( nor the last ) time in which Seojin would have to enact his strict side onto others. He knew quite well of his age in comparison to the other trainees and felt the natural need to guide them in the right direction — even if it entailed kicking and screaming. He had grown accustomed to throwing out 'I told you so' and 'I knew this would happen' to his own younger siblings who had yet to learn about the workings of the world. Burdened with this responsibility, he was now inclined to take on the role unconsciously, even now.
"Hey! Yoo Kiha!" He shouted after the trainee in question to grab his attention. Perhaps the tone emerged a bit harsher than intended, a slight grimace appearing on his face shortly after. Oh, well. "You're gonna give me a hand with this. It's a two person job, so take a walk with me, would ya?" Of course, it did not seem as though he was giving Kiha the chance to reject in the first place.
slow down !

it’s at this moment that hyunhee regrets not participating in the debut bootcamp. in truth, she thought the so-called physical bootcamp would be easier. she doesn’t feel ready to debut anyways. secretly, though she wonders if she’ll ever feel ready to debut.
she runs behind kiha, panting. she’s out of breath within moments. the pair have just started their outdoor run and hyunhee already feels like dying. if anything, this bootcamp has shown her how out of shape she really is, and how she should start focusing more on her dance classes.
“kiha, wait for me,” each word is said with a large gasp in between. she uses the last of her energy to make her way closer to him, hoping he’ll stop. instead of crumpling to the ground, she finally stops and puts her palms to her knees, taking deep breaths in and out. “you’re running way too fast, i thought we were supposed to be going on a nice jog?”
✰ ◞ LGC FAMILY CONCERT 2K22. put some pep in your step ( ft. @lgckiha ).
with a more vocal heavy focus, writing and general performance having always been at the forefront of nina’s strengths, dance heavy routines where high stamina were valued above all else never failed to be challenging— this much was especially true when there were multiple songs being performed in succession. nina was by no means a bad dancer, it was just something she wasn’t particularly a standout in, and while that didn’t necessarily bother her since she knew very well there were others strengths she could bring to the table, there was also the underlying thought of not wanting to negatively stand out because she wasn’t on par with everyone else ( this specific stage was meant to showcase the songs dances, after all. vocals didn’t matter this time around ).
needless to say, there’s an uncharacteristically strong drive to her movements during rehearsals that day, and nina is sure kiha can feel her exhaustion after running into each other during break times.
“i think i need to work on my stamina once we’re back to normal training schedules,” she finds herself voicing dryly, squinting off into the distance as she begins to feel herself finally relax a bit. “practicing a balanced performance that involves dancing and singing is one thing, but full on numbers with such involved choreography, one after the other ... i wont lie, fiesta was kicking my ass.” she trails off, lips forming a thin line. she turns to look at kiha. “how have you and the rest of the guys been doing with your songs?”
✰ ... Yes Or No? getting help from the funny man ( ft. @lgckiha ).
there aren't many people saem trusted when it came to second opinions— ordinarily, he couldn't care less about what other people thought, the idea of changing himself or his process for the sake of pleasing anyone else being a stupid thing ( even if, in some occasions, it was the right idea ). saem was a creature of instinct, the kind of person who simply was and did as he pleased within mild reason. so, for him to approach anyone for the sake of getting help was huge.
"i need you for something," he starts, standing pin straight where his feet found themselves planted, arms down by his sides as he peered up at the taller boy. kiha was one of the very few exceptions to saems fuck what anyone else thinks rule, simply because saem found kiha funny. "you're not busy, right? you can take a little break, there's still plenty of free time to use today, right?" saems words fire out one after the other, his body beginning to sway back and forth as a lazy grin grows on his lips. "this is serious. very important."
sooooo with future dreams season 5 coming to an end soon, i've been curious about the future of the company. turns out legacy gave me the opportunity to do *just that* at the simple cost of two plane tickets and two concert tickets ( TT_TT ) promise, i had other reasons to go to the usa than just check out some trainees, it just turned out like that ㅋㅋㅋ
i also saw a couple of fancams the showcases floating around, and while they are good, it was a bit more different in person.
BOYS SHOWCASE
there were 12 boys at the los angeles showcase. of course, they only danced, so i can judge everything, but right away, it was clear that they are a cut below the future dreams boys... that really got me wondering about the girls then. were they going to be overall stronger than the boys too? i'll get back to that later.
when they first came on stage, there was one clear stand out for me: BAI LIN. just standing there his aura was NO JOKE. unfortunately he lost his charm as soon as the music started ㅋㅋ he really cant dance ㅋㅋ
in the end, there were 4 standouts for me! the first was YOO KIHA; he danced the best without question, but i felt like he was lacking a bit in terms of charisma, which is a shame. the other 3 were CHOI KAI, HAN NOEUL and YOON DAYEON; their dance skills are pretty high, even if a bit lower than kiha’s, however they do have the charisma that he lacks, hence why they are neck to neck with him, in my opinion. If you didn't know, HAN NOEUL is the one who performed at the concert. From what i've seen in person, i can understand why he was picked instead of the 3 others; his expressions and ability to embody the concept was the best of them all.
GIRLS SHOWCASE
i was sooo ready for the seoul concert by the time it came! i went with friends and we went to as many panels as we could if you wanna ㅋㅋ hear about that, lemme know!
when it comes to the girls, good news! lgc isn't running out of girl trainees for a while! there were 16 girls on stage. their overall visuals are quite good too, though i had a complete shock when JO SUNHWA stepped on stage. her visuals and aura are crazy!
when it comes to actual dance skills, if i have to pick, i would name CHA SORI as my standout of the showcase. i wouldn't say she's a better dancer than kiha, however, she has the charisma that he lacks. JUNG JIAE and KIM NAYOUNG were also standouts of the showcase, with JIAE being better in terms of skills and NAYOUNG in charisma.
i think it was an interesting choice to pick KIM YUJIN above SORI and NAYOUNG to join the concert with LEE HAYUN. legacy likely had its reasons!
CONCLUSION
overall, these trainees have a long way to go to reach the level of the ones on future dreams but there are several standouts already. i don't think future dreams is coming to an end with season 5 after attending the showcases! in terms of performance, the boys definitely did better while the girls really stood out with their overall charisma.
[ + / – ] EVERY time i think they won't able to cast new pretty kids, they manage to surprise me. i must attend the wrong school because none of the kids in my class look like this, ugh. they look polite and friendly and they dance really well too... watching this while i'm supposed to do homework, i'm such a failure TT they're only trainees but they get to travel and have fun on stage in front of people like this... LGC WINS AGAIN!!!!!!!!... at ruining my life TT [ + / – ] there's a reason why they always have the male trainees perform senior group songs... the quality only went downhill ever since, there's something seriously wrong with this company. i know they're scrambling to save themselves now that DBSD is enlisting but they should at least be subtle about it. the girls weren't much more impressive either. legacy always preaches about their shiny new generation but the future looks pretty bleak right now... [ + / – ] they did pretty well, they're still trainees for a reason right? i'd rather see imperfect predebut performances than have mediocre idols who debut too early and can barely hold a tune. but i still wish it wasn't just a dance showcase. nothing against a good choreography, but when there's nothing new to show, i'd rather just check the original, you know? show the whole package, let's hear them sing!
