I’m choosing this photo of the front because it also has people in front of it for size reference. This house is HUGE!
Beautiful double door entrance to the living room with a guardian foo dog statue (I believe there is another matching one on the other side and you can kinda see the table legs). There is also a beautiful floral arrangement in an antique looking vase. And oh hey, there’s Syaoran’s sisters.
The living room has some pretty old fashioned furniture and a marble topped coffee table. There’s also a lamp with a frilly lamp shade in the corner and a double doorway leading out to what I am assuming is the porch around the back of the house.
To the left of the back double doors, you can see another table against the wall, and this one seems to contain a picture in a frame. I wonder who is in the picture? Also, don’t mind Feimei shamlessly rubbing Touya’s butt.
The back of the house shows a balcony/porch on both floors wrapping around the building. I love this setup, cuz’ it probably makes it very easy to move from room to room without losing the beautiful view of the outside! You can also see the octagonal balcony, which overlooks Hong Kong and gives you a view of the city you won’t forget!
One off the guest rooms used here is very simple but effective. You can see the double doors that lead to the balcony.
The backyard has a beautiful reflecting pool (probably used for magical purposes or divination) and a walkway that goes right through it. The walkway leads you straight to the octagonal balcony.
The reflecting pool in the backyard is also where Syaoran and Meiling learned how to fight from Wei. <3 There is a walkway veering off to the left of them, and I imagine this leads to some of the other houses of the Li clan (Probably at least Meiling’s because she said she lived very close to him).
LOOK AT THAT VIEEWWWWW. Hong Kong is literally right below!
Another view of the front of the house that shows the garden just out front and the gate to get in.
Okay, that’s all I got! I feel like I sounded like a realtor here, but I wanted to point out some of the details of Syaoran’s house and also give kudos to the animators for staying consistent in their designs throughout both the movie and the original series. <3
I think Meiling fits the "still awesome without powers" role better than Akiho tbh, even if she's an anime original character, which is why I expect Akiho to have hidden powers (I think she already has dream magic that only works when she's asleep and she's actually the one that controls the magic book) or to gain powers by the end of the story. Not to mention Syaoran's sisters, should they appear in the manga too, are other examples of non magicians born from a magical family.
This is the “non-magical kids” thread, lol!
Even though I’d like for Akiho to not have magical powers, I also think something is up with her and in the end we’ll find out she does .As you both point out, there are other examples of “still awesome without powers”, especially Meiling whom I love dearly.
I also can see, somehow, the Li clan (or at least the head family) befriending Akiho. Like, what’s all this competition bullshit, we already have enough troubles managing such important matters, why adding more trouble by using kids for a superiority contest? I see Yelan as a very pragmatic person, and she does have not one, but 4 daughters without magical powers. “It can happen, deal with it” would be her most likely comment to the Squid Clan behavior….
Showing some love for Syaoran’s beautiful mother! Just a quick sketch of what she may have looked like when she was Sakura’s age... Please Clamp, give her an appearance in Clear Clard!!
Fanart of Cardcaptor Sakura fanfic Part 2 of Li Cousins: Li Jinyu and Li Meiling
Why I chose them as a pair (not romantically) is because both of them are good fighters and are independent they have this Li Clan’s fierceness and honor in them although Li Jinyu is more quiet and always broods unlike Meiling who is sociable and always there to have a supportive hand .I think Jinyu looks different in white cheongsam the white soften his image he doesn't look gloomy at all but I like their eyes, rubies that are fierce looking ready to fight for those people they cherish.
For those who are interested on who is this Li Jinyu character check Wishluv’s fanfic called New Trials of Cardcaptor Sakura, Syaoran and Friends

So Chapter 25 just came out, and I have so much to say about it! I’m going to mainly focus on the workings of magic clans based on what we know so far and what I think might happen in the future. Under the cut due to length and spoilers.
So...wow. This chapter hit me right in the feels unexpectedly. I was expecting to see some sort of aftermath of the great reveal of Syaoran being MCF (Mysterious cloaked figure), but instead we got the snippet of Akiho’s past in storybook format.
I really enjoyed this chapter because not only did we learn more about Akiho and feel quite a bit of sympathy for her, but we also learned a bit more about the magical world in general, which CLAMP has kept pretty much in the background for so long. We’ve only ever known of Sakura’s experience with magic but knew nothing of the world outside of it, and so this whole story has been really refreshing. Also, I won’t deny that I, being a huge Syaoran fan, love hearing any mention of his family or how they function.
I must say I was kinda devastated to hear that Syaoran’s sisters don’t have magic, but it does kind of brings answers to a lot of questions I’ve had. I always wondered why the sisters seemed so carefree while Syaoran was serious and treated with much more strictness by his mother. It was confirmed by Kero before (in the anime, but that episode was written by Ohkawa and therefore canon), that it is very rare for someone in the Li clan to be born without magic. As the leader of the Li clan, I imagine Yelan was under a lot of pressure to produce offspring with great magic, and it must have been very difficult after having four daughters back to back with no magic whatsoever. Syaoran, being the 5th and final child, finally brought that to the table, and he was essentially strong enough for the four of them to make up for it, but with this brought a whole lot of pressure to succeed.
Another question that came to mind is ‘Why does this even matter?’. Well, as proven by Akiho’s family in this chapter, it seems magical clans can be very competitive with one another, and they seem to judge based on their younger generations who will carry on the future from the looks of it. It’s all about the offspring it seems, and poor Akiho was born into a family who was not as accepting of the lack of magic as the Li clan was in regards to Syaoran’s sisters. In fact, it seems she was treated even more poorly because of Syaoran. With him being the same age and having strong enough magical power to be the next heir to the Li clan, Akiho became a failure in their eyes and one who would bring dishonor to their clan.
Another thing that intrigued me was in the Clear Card anime, episode 15, Meiling mentioned how Yelan used to cut Syaoran’s hair was he was really little to keep his neck from being exposed to blades before he was strong enough to defend himself. This was portrayed as if it was just Yelan being a fiercely protective mother, but what if she actually had reasons for feeling this way? Akiho’s clan when hearing about Syaoran said that falling behind the Li clan was “Unforgiveable” and that it would somehow destroy the pride of their clan. Kero seemed to know of their clan and mentioned their questionable morals, so it leads me to think that it is not out of the realm of possibility that murder crossed their minds. When they have a child that has no magic, what would be the next best way to keep your rival clan from getting ahead of you? Murder the heir...
Obviously, even if there were any attempts, Yelan I’m sure was careful to keep her son well protected, and poor Akiho became ignored by her fellow clan members. It’s possible that no one in the magical world even knows about her, because I doubt they would ever want word of having a ‘defective’ child getting around.
Then there’s Kaito. Kaito, being the strongest member of this clan, surely watched a lot of Akiho’s mistreatment, and something tells me he might have even participated in it for a while. Perhaps he was cold at first but then Akiho managed to warm his heart. I’m very interested to see how those two managed to meet and what Akiho is to Kaito exactly, since he seems to care very deeply about her. As for Akiho’s feelings for Kaito, I don’t think we have to dig very deep to find out why she cares for him so much. He’s taken care of her and been a friend when she didn’t have one. It’s plain to see why she likes him, especially with him being so charming.
Then there is the end of the chapter. Man, this scene has got me so pumped up for the next chapter, because we’re FINALLY gonna get a Yue confrontation! I am so curious to see how this conversation is going to unfold and to see what Syaoran knows. There’s also the possibility of Kaito attacking like he did with Eriol when they communicated, and perhaps that is why Yue seems to want to speak with him in person (that and they’re not thousands of miles away from each other). Also, how is Yue going to react when he finds out Syaoran has the Sakura cards in his possession? I can’t imagine he will take that well, seeing as Syaoran is not their master.
I am thrilled that Meiling in episode 13 has helped us to confirm that Syaoran’s mother, Yelan, is the leader of the Li clan and that Syaoran is next in line. It’s been an idea often believed by most CCS fans but never truly confirmed until now. In general, I have always wanted to know more about Syaoran’s family and how it functions, and I’m not really surprised to hear that some might have tried to talk him out of going to Japan. I don’t believe this has anything to do with Sakura’s ‘worthiness’ of him, as some fanfics like to focus on, but rather a multitude of things. Sakura is most definitely worthy of him, being both kind, powerful, and the master of magic that stems from their family. But Syaoran is young and has many duties to his family. It’s to be expected that they might worry about his priorities and the decisions he’s making at such a young age, no matter how independent he may be. I believe that Syaoran will not abandon his family’s purpose for him, but rather he probably worked very hard in Hong Kong (and is likely still working hard) to prove to his family that he can do both. Syaoran is not the type of person who will settle for thing one or the other. If he wants both, he will make it happen, no matter how much work he would have to do. That’s just how he is, but it is for this very reason he has a tendency to overextend himself, so it can be a bit worrisome. It’s both his biggest strength and his biggest flaw.
