Been on a British hero kick as of late. You wouldn't happen to have any info on a Ms./Mrs. Hyde, would you? I keep hearing about her fighting crime in the UK but I can't seem to find anything concrete. Any assistance would be appreciated.
No I do not have that information and that's because the people in my profession have a lot of reasons to suspect she doesn't exist. Or at least doesn't existing in the way she's been reported
The first and only time she appears is in the roster for the UK's VERY suspect "national hero team" Knights Inc. One of the many such vaporous teams that came out of the international panic surrounding the so called "Superman Theory" that the United States was intentionally creating metahumans and unbalancing the ratio of active superheroes as part of some kind of undeclared arms race.
While most, if not all of these heroes are confirmed to exist. Or even have highly decorated records as superheroes (Knight and Squire, The Hood, Lionheart, etc) the idea that they all active under a single team directly answerable to the British Parliament (or even worse, the British CROWN) is absurd for a lot of reasons.
Firstly, many of its members are already members of active and prominent superhero teams. The Knight, The Square and The Hood are all members of the international vigilante support group Batman Incorporated. They're not exactly public facing, government supporting types as you can tell by the fact that the best picture they were able to get of the woman who seems to be leading the team is a single paparazzi picture of her batting away the camera.
Godiva is England's active and longtime representative on the Global Guardians alongside her VERY IRISH counterpart Jack O'Lantern who made a very memorable "response" to his "membership" on this team on Ireland's iconic Late Late Show where he stopped just short of cussing out the then queen directly for attempting to co-opt his status as Ireland's national hero to lend legitimacy to this dog and pony show. (The rant is really something else. He is proper OFFENDED, his Irishness is obviously deeply important to him for also obvious reasons and the idea of being simply PLACED under British purview obviously gets him steamed like a train engine)
The Silent Knight is a nearly millennia old masked figure dating back to the fall of Camelot and if there IS a new superhero operating under that name we don't know it and there's very little chance the Crown does either.
Mrs Hyde, however, is the most unseen of the bunch. There are no pictures or videos of her in active duty. No information about her has been provided to the press, not even an outline of her abilities which reeks to high hell when they're otherwise attempting to sell this idea to the public. The only evidence of "Knights Inc" going into action AT ALL is a single news broadcast of them being sent off "into battle" as they board a jet aircraft where the camera is positioned as far away from the heroes as possible and with everyone's backs to the camera.
Like most of these "national teams" the running suspicion is that they don't exist in any functional form and may have some kind of half full roster on paper being filled out with the names of people who have better things to do or heroes who don't exist at all and England's roster is one of the LESS insane to be offered.
