I almost don't want to graduate college because they are gonna take away my access to the library database, and if I don't have access to a database anymore, I'll jump off a cliff.

Library databases have useful features you may not know about! Learn more today at 3:00pm, Preston Ridge Campus Library. Details:http://ow.ly/mZZD30aMnPM
Students, need to find a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal article? Don't pay for an online article you found by web-surfing. Use the Collin College 'Library' tab in CougarWeb to get free, full-text access to scholarly journals. Ask a Librarian for help! Log in here: http://ow.ly/pJAR308qoOB
Meet the database US Major Dailies!
What’s inside: The New York Times, Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune. The content is available by 8 am each day and provides archives stretching as far back as 1985.
What’s it good for: Reading current newspaper articles from the above titles. The Wall Street Journal has been much-asked for after the last time it went away.
How to access: When you’re on-campus, the link above will take you straight through. Off-campus or on the wifi, however, you will have to provide your 14-digit library barcode number from the back of your student ID.
Meet Gale’s Science in Context!
What’s inside: Have you ever used Opposing Viewpoints? Science in Context is like that, but it focuses on scientific concepts and scientists rather than controversial issues. It gathers up statistics, academic journal articles, news and magazine articles, websites, and more! Major categories include: biographies, biology, chemistry, earth & environmental science, general science, health & medicine, math, engineering, & technology, and physics & astronomy.
What’s it good for: Quickly getting on overview of a concept as well as finding related resources to browse makes this a nice place to kickstart some research for your STEM classes.
How to access: If you’re on-campus, the link above will take you straight through. If you have left campus for some unlikely reason (...), you’ll be taken straight to a log-in page where you’ll need to provide your 14-digit library barcode number from the back of your student ID.
Meet Credo Reference!
What’s inside: Short articles giving you an overview of whatever topic you look up, pulled from dictionaries and encyclopedias and the like. There’s also a mind map tool to help you explore and discover related ideas.
What’s it good for: Getting started on your research. Think of a legit version of Wikipedia. You shouldn’t really be citing anything from here in your final bibliographies, but this will give you ideas for what terms to search with to find more in-depth and/or scholarly articles!
How to access: Just click the link! When you’re off-campus or on wifi, you’ll be prompted to enter your LSCS 14-digit library barcode, which is printed on the back of your student ID.
