Heartbreaking but honored...My Turi's ornament for 2018 is on the tree. Looking at everyone's else ornaments and couldnt help but to get sad. Every ornament is a symbol of angel to another family. My Turi is forever my baby but he became an angel for 5 different people. 5 other families do not have to endure the heartbreak of losing someone they love. I am internally grateful for the time I had with my son and blessed knowing he saved 5 lives. My Turi lives on. #Becomeadonor #lifegift ❤ https://www.instagram.com/p/BrrODbqng_j6_-L5IAV-btcRc_U-lnJhl4eHjo0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1h63369igmx9
#Flashback to one of the most AWESOME post-transplant milestones I've had - climbing a mountain (specifically Enchanted Rock, my "white whale"). Getting to the summit marker of that giant granite stone stirred an unbelievably incredible amount of powerful emotions, none of which I'm able to fully describe - to this day. It's something I'll keep with me forever. #becauseofanorgandonor #endthewaitinglist #endthewait #donatelifetexas #lifegift #transplantlife #butstillbreathing (at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area - Texas Parks and Wildlife)

April is National Donate Life Month! How are you celebrating? ***** ***** ***** (From dinatelife.net) ”For the 2018 National Donate Life Month artwork, Donate Life America was inspired by the image of a rainbow and Maya Angelou’s quote, “Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” ***** Often following a storm, the presence of a rainbow provides optimism and motivates us to endure through dark times. Similarly, organ, eye and tissue donation is the bridge of comfort and hope between one family’s mourning and another’s healing — turning tragedy into renewed life. The vibrant Donate Life rainbow in the National Donate Life Month artwork rises from stormy clouds, recognizing that it takes both rain and light to create the gift of a rainbow. ***** Maya Angelou’s message applies to all of us, no matter our background or experiences. We all know rainbows — people that have helped carry us through life and its challenges. In turn, we may also have the opportunity to be rainbows in other people’s clouds through the gift of organ, eye and tissue donation. ***** This April, we encourage you to reflect on the lives of those touched by donation and transplantation, and to share its prismatic effect. By registering to be a donor or considering living donation, you can change one ray of light into a spectrum of healing and compassion. ***** We wish you a Happy National Donate Life Month. Thank you for your efforts in educating about the cause of donation and the importance of registering your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor! ***** #nationaldonatelifemonth #donatelifemonth #donatelife #donatelifeamerica #donatelifetexas #lifegift #organdonation #organtransplant #mayaangelou @donatelifeamerica
Remember my crazy self being duck-taped by my mom? Wel, this is the beautiful completed piece. ----- This past weekend, we were privileged to celebrate my parents-in-law's sixty wonderful years of marriage together. THIS was her wedding dress. She made the dress herself, down to sewing the tiny pearl buttons on the lace sleeves. When I found the dress tucked away in her closet, I squealed inside myself with joy. Being able to restore it and display it at their party was very exciting. Everyone there was able to see it's beauty and imagine how gorgeous she was in it on that day. That experience is now one of the highlights of my life. I am grateful that I have been able to be a tiny part of those special sixty years. I am grateful that they have shared their amazing son with me. I am grateful that I was able to be there Sunday to commemorate that milestone with my family. . . . #mountainousadventures #tinyvictories #gratefulfortoday #becauseofanorgandonor #endthewaitinglist #endthewaitlist #endthewait #butstillbreathing #donatelife #donatelifetexas #lifegift #anniversaries (at Jasper, Texas)
