Cat for Cash EP4 | Tiger Likes a Boy
I thought this was such an under-rated moment. In the context of a BL, we may take it for granted that the world the story resides in is tolerant to gay characters by it's very nature. But it's so important when a series still signposts the real challenges this community face.
When Tiger's dad suddenly clocks on that his son is interested in a boy, there's this loaded, suspended moment. The gravity of that slowly sinks in on his dad's face. You see the genuine fear intensify in Tiger's eyes as he waits for the response. As much as his parents adore him - coming out in any shape or form is a terrifying prospect of 'what if they reject me?' And as his dad processes this, you can almost see a flicker of grief - like he's choked up that his boy had to carry this weight. I saw the love there. When Tiger receives acceptance, he finally relaxes - so clearly relieved.
I just thought First's acting here was beautifully quiet but really heartfelt. I felt like I was holding my breath whilst I watched it.
