I still haven't quite figured out how my 4 year old nephew memorized my passcode to my iPod. (it's a word, not numbers). And it's not like he can spell either so....

Stanley Kubrick was a little bitch, and was almost certainly insane.

Things i have learned about Kubrick today whilst reading up on The Shining:

He used to phone Stephen King in the middle of the night to ask things like: "Do you believe in hell?"

That one elevator/river of blood scene took nine days to set up for each take and in the end took the whole year filming to get right.

He pushed Shelly Duvall so hard on set her hair fell out, you can literally see her get thinner because of stress throughout the film.

He had Elstree Studios for a 17 week shoot, but it took 51 weeks to complete filming, holding back Raiders of the Lost Arc back from using the set for months, and this was mostly because Kubrick wanted to shoot the film in script order, meaning that all of the large sets had to be on hand at all times.

He once stopped a whole days filming to play chess.
