The only thing funnier than the linguistics internship team I was a part of in undergrad being like 90% LGBT, is that the core 3 people at the current prosody/experimental linguistics lab I work at in my grad school are all various flavors of nonbinary.

There are another two people plus the professor, but the three of us who work there full time are all nonbinary and all vaguely computational linguistics oriented. We got a they/them, a they/she, and I'm a they/he.

I just thought of something else regarding the last reblog! My gals and I, who speak English as well, often say 'of course' in a Russian phonetics making it sound like 'of cous' (sort of like when you say couscous, but with a soft s at the end), which is like оф кусь, where 'cous' sounds the same as a sweet colloquial way of saying "bite" (like when you bite something). So it's like we're saying OW BITE :) instead of ALRIGHT:)

And it sounds nice trust me :) Russian is sweet

i was making a silly post about grammatically gendered languages, but then i started reading the wikipedia list of languages with masculine/feminine grammatical gender, and wow there are so many of you? i didn't know? and then i got to masc/fem/neuter and apparently dutch is really complicated in this respect?
