More Loner!Jayfeather stuff! Featuring Lionheart, Goldenflower, Tigerheartstar, and angst!
Lionflower’s Starclan mentors are 1000% going to be Lionheart and Goldenflower. Lionheart will focus on keeping Lionpaw up to date with his warrior training while Goldenflower will help Lionpaw stay in control of himself when he fights, they have a lot of sessions that are just about breathing and staying calm.
I’m a little on the fence if I want Lionflower to stay a medicine cat after the Dark Forest battle. He became a medicine cat because he was afraid of himself, but he learned how to control his powers and after the battle he never felt that ‘uncontrollable bloodlust’ again. He was still a great fighter but now he was just like any other warrior. Plus I really ship Cinderheart and Lionflower, as well as Fernsong and Ivypool! He can still help out like Brightheart did, but by stepping down himself he doesn’t have to face the repercussions of taking a mate and trying to keep it secret.
I’m also on the fence about whether or not I want Jaystrike to end up with Skyclan after the DF battle or if I want him in Twolegplace. There’s a very narrow window of time that could allow Jaystrike to do both, but with the Darktail issue he would likely be expected to stay during all that. If Jaystrike is in the Twolegplace then he gets to form bonds with Spire, Blaze, and the other cats there, and he will also get the chance to get to know Tigerheart. He could form a close bond with the returning Shadowclan cats which would be great for this next bit.
Remember when I said “How do you guys think Jaystrike will react to Moonlight dying”? Okay take that, now consider Jaystrike being a medicine cat in Shadowclan when Tigerstar is leader, the one trying to get rid of the Sisters? Tbh I can see Tigerstar trying to hide it from Jaystrike for a bit, keeping him from gatherings that will inevitably discuss it telling him that he wanted a medicine cat in camp just in case, and then accusing him of trying to undermine his leader when Jaystrike goes to a gathering anyway (it was the one where the clans almost decided to attack the Sisters but ended up sending Tree instead)
Tree and Jaystrike go together to speak with the Sisters, the outcome doesn’t change though (this will be decided after I read the novella) Tree does get the feeling that Moonlight liked Jaystrike more than she liked him. The pair do reconcile after Moonlight dies though and see each other as family.
Jaystrike was absolutely there when the rockfall happened, and if we go the route where Jay and Tigerheart became friends in the Twolegplace, then they definitely aren’t anymore. Maybe Tigerstar realizes he fucked up when he loses Jaystrike’s friendship, or maybe he’ll stay a hothead and insist he did nothing wrong. I want him to value the friendship though, I think that would be interesting.
When Leafpool dies, Jaystrike returns to Thunderclan to help Alderheart as a medicine cat, though he does go through a personality shift because two of his mom’s are dead now and that’s going to fuck with him for awhile. He doesn’t go to gatherings anymore either because he doesn’t want to see Tigerstar after what he did.
Shadowsight misses his uncle Jay :(
Should Flametail live? I want him to, Flameboi shouldn’t have died, the Erin’s did him dirty. Lionflower definitely could have saved him from the ice.
I also don’t know if I want Puddleshine to be a medicine cat, I see his situation being similar to Cinderpelt’s in a way. He was forced to take on that role when he wanted to be warrior, and he could have been a warrior and likely was supposed to be, but with Shadowclan being without a medicine cat, Starclan had to allow it so that Shadowclan would survive.
