Happy Native American Heritage and Indigenous History Month! We’re celebrating, as we do, with books by Indigenous authors, starring Indigenous characters. (Note: Despite the title of the post, these books include indigenous characters from all over.) While the usual affiliate links are included, you’re strongly encouraged to order from the Native-owned Birchbark Books where available!

Anyways, y’all I come to show more indigenous nations of South Louisiana and the beauty of their culture! Fun fact, many of tribal members also have Caddo heritage, so they are rocking that! I feel like in conversations about indigenous people many of the nations of Louisiana(and honestly Alabama and Texas as well)tend to get left out! There are many indigenous people who still live on their territorial lands, including the Chocataw-Apache’s!
i’ve actually got to meet some of the tribal members throughout my experiences with going to powwow’s in South Louisiana! Incredibly awesome, kind, and loving people!
If you want to learn more about the tribe, here is their tribal website & Facebook page!

"Child?..." Lipan's voice spoke sorrowful, but he wouldn't be heard.
((Wanted to draw a father for Texas, I looked into the native tribes that resided in the Area and have chosen Lipan Apache tribe. Sorry if anything is inaccurate qwq )
This one has been wandering around my TBR since I heard it had a Lipsn Apache asexual main character. There are few YA books about Native Americans and there seem to be even fewer about does who are asexual, so to have one that had both in the main character seemed a good place to start.
That, and a kicking magic system. This book, will unfortunately, probably stay on my TBR for a bit longer. Or I just might change my mind for the March TBR and see where takes me instead.
Have you read Elatsoe? What did you think of it? Would you recommend me adding it to my TBR for this month?
