I'm reading "If the Dead Belong Here" by Carson Faust, which is about a Native American family in Southern Gothic style, whose roots have been steeped in shadows, history, and shaman-craft, and colonialism has separated their knowledge from their roots to the point it becomes dangerous and steals a 6-year old from a house in 1996

And even just a third of the way through, the tragedy of it all had me close the book and cry into my hand on the bus. Ohhhh this book is going to steep in me like Assam tea, isn't it?
