Criminal Minds Character Tracker
I am doing an absolutely CRAZY thing where I track personal details of the character as we learn them, with a side sheet that is tracking only HotchReid interactions because I've gone off the deep end. I'll keep adding to it as I go through my rewatch. It also has the character and actor ages based on when the season aired and a guess at when the season was filmed.
Unfortunately, season 1 is the least filled out, both because they didn't share as much about the characters then and because I hadn't really gotten myself into the swing of tracking character personality details and not just facts about them.
Idk if there’s anything to this but a thought that’s been rattling around my head as I’m going through a CM rewatch … Hotch says he saw Haley for the first time at the end of his junior year, that he knew he was going to marry her then. And like a person is generally 16 in their junior year, and there’s a 16 year age gap between Hotch and Spencer. And he says something about how he had no idea how he missed her for the previous two years. And Hotch’s birthday is 11/02/1965, so the end of his junior year would be around May 1983, and Spencer’s birthday is 10/12/1981, which is about two years ago. And like … idk but something about Hotch feeling that spark in him that he was gonna marry a person and wondering how he missed that person for two years and that timeline matching with Spencer’s birth … almost like a soulmate thing …
Wait….? People are mad about this episode?? Why?? It was SOOO good!
An original story for William/Billy, a cute little teen gay love story, a return of Evan Peters as whoever he is now, seeing that whole first episode from Billy’s perspective and how absolutely ridiculous and hilarious the situation was, and finding out Agatha survived and that you can see she genuinely cares for this kid, the clear dichotomy of how the road has already changed Billy when you see the beginning and the now put together so quickly back to back without the intervening 4 episodes, AND it ending with an Agatha and Billy team up as they continue to walk the road. This was a PERFECT episode following the big reveal!!!
We’ll get more Agatha and Rio eventually. And I’m sure the rest of the coven will pop back up at some point. Their stories can’t end that abruptly. There are still 3 more episodes!! A third of this show still left!! A LOT can happen still.
But this was a SOLID episode with an AMAZING character origin and motivations setting storyline. And freaking Billy and Eddie were so cute!!
I am in LOVE with the writing of The Pitt! The nuance, the complexity, the depth, and all in under a very fast-moving hour, week after week, for 15 perfect episodes, 2 seasons in a row!
The characters are all such good people trying to be great doctors and nurses for their patients. And they are constantly bumping up against an overburdened system, a lack of resources and support, a broken world, and their own trauma and baggage. I love them all so much!
And I love the writers of this beautifully messy show who are trying to reflect the full depth and breadth of our world with such heartbreaking empathy.
Queer Fantasy Book Rec
Absolutely judge this book by its cover!!! It’s just as freaking beautiful and soft and lovely as the cover suggests!! It’s all fealty and reciprocal devotion and a love so pure it’ll worm its way into your brain and re-wire you!! All the side characters are also amazingly memorable! It takes place in a fictional Ottoman Empire-like kingdom in a queer-normative world where a third, gender-neutral pronoun is totally normal, and about a third of the characters are actually referred to by it. No one has issues with any kind of sexuality at all. It’s just such a beautiful world to be the backdrop of this absolutely addicting love story.
It also handles anxiety and perceptions - both of ourselves (the people we think we are and who we’re aiming to be) and that of other people (who we expect them to be and who they really are) - with nuance and care.
I read this first as an audiobook. But about a quarter of the way in, I knew I had to have a physical copy of the book and immediately ordered the hardcover. The book came in the next day after I finished the audiobook. And when I tell you I immediately picked up the gorgeous book and reread it in its entirety, I mean IMMEDIATELY!
@ariaste thank you, thank you, thank you for my new favorite book!! I’m telling everyone in my real life to read it ASAP!
Told my sister she doesn’t care enough about trans people and about the anti trans legislation that JKR will directly fund through Harry Potter tv show profits if she watches the new show and she was mad at me and said it was messed up that I could say she doesn’t care when and that she could just as easily come at me for not caring since I occasionally still get Starbucks and shop Amazon and have a Disney+ subscription. And I was like “I know what trade offs I made. I’m aware of them every time I make an Amazon purchase or watch Percy Jackson or buy the medicine ball drink from Starbucks when I’m sick. I’m aware and I own up to it. I’m asking you to know own up to the fact that you’d rather watch your beloved Harry Potter than care about the uk trans people it’ll hurt.”
… idk, was I harsh? AITA? Is there a better way to have this convo or is it doomed?
You know what just came into my mind … I’m doing an x men movie rewatch (in the order they were released) and I just finished X2 and I just had the thought …
I wonder if part of the reason Charles visits Erik in prison regularly (potentially once a week for all we know) is because there was that decade in days of future past where he was heartbroken and gave up hope on Erik and Erik felt abandoned by him and Charles NEVER wants Erik to think for even a second that he’s given up hope or abandoned Erik again.
"And I will always be there, old friend."
