#27 (if you want to answer, if not it's all g), #28 and #31, dude :)
27. The book you’re embarrassed to admit you’ve read
I’m trying to think of something I’m actually embarrassed to have read and honestly I’m finding it hard. Like yes, I’ve read all of Twilight, but you know, we all did. And honestly I’m proud of my self for recognising them as the shite they are earlier than most. The first film made me realise the whole series is crap. I’ve also tried to read Fifty Shades of Grey but I couldn’t even get three chapters in, the writing is so awful. If you asked me five years ago, I could look at my book shelves and work it out, but I got rid of all the books I’m never going to read again so I’ve only got decent books on the shelves now.
I am a little embarrassed by that Destiel fic I read, that famous one, Twist and Shout. Not that I’ve read it, we all have, I’m not ashamed of having read it, just embarrassed that I loved it as much as I did. It’s fine but like, it’s just fine?
28. The one where the fanfic was better than the original (and the relevant AO3 links, pls)
Man I know there’s a few of these, some stories do things so well, they become my new canon and the original content is optional. Ones that are coming to mind include that famous (unfinished) Jily fic, The Life and Times, which I’m not saying is better than Harry Potter, but is better than all the original content we have an the Marauders.
Another one that really stayed with me was a Les Mis Pacific Rim AU I read before I’d even seen Pacific Rim and it was so good it convinced me to see the film, which I was then disappointed by, because I thought the fanfiction was better. Fighting the Hurricane
I also used to be obsessed with this South Park fanfiction (I know I know) focused on The Mole, Gregory, and Damien and angels and demons and the apocalypse and fuck me it was dramatic, I read it like three times. Consequences to the Grave
I’m sure there’s more, maybe they’ll come to me while I’m scrolling through my bookmarks, looking for the links to the above fics.
31. Bonus question: rec me something!
Looking at my bookshelf for book recs, gotta say Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett - a favouriteThe Shining by Stephen King - god I love the book so much more than the filmA Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking - possibly the reason I study physics today?Mighty Fizz Chilla by Philip Ridley - a fucking weird kids book that I read like four times because it was just so damn good?
