i go a little insane every single time i see an american talking about how we need to hold israelis accountable because the majority of them voted for bibi. likud got maybe 1/4 of the votes and then barely scraped together a coalition full of far-right loons, where the biggest party represents maybe only 10% of the voting population (proportional to how many seats they have) and the rest represent much less. the government prior to the current one, despite still being relatively right of center, didnt have a lick of likud in it and even included an arab party. and before THAT government was formed there were 4 elections back to back in the span of 2 years because NOBODY was able to form a coalition w/ enough seats to be able to govern israel. can we PLEASE stop pretending like the entirety of israel is super gung ho about bibi netanyahu ???

like yes, israeli society tends to skew right wing. this is true and if you want to criticize it then by all means go ahead...not to mention how all of those babies the ultra-orthodox are having are going to become adults soon and then there will be a big Boom in right-wing voters. but israeli society was barely unified prior to october 7th, much less unified behind bibi. if i have to see one more american that assumes every government in the world works like america's does go "well bibi is prime minister and that's probably president lite so it must mean that most israelis love bibi" im going to renounce my citizenship and get myself deported
