Work is being on and off, so had today off and made the most of it for once. Painted a few landscapes from photo references (pinterest). I find that they are a great thing to study to get a better grasp of value, hue, contrast, and composition. What do you guys think? I used to really dislike painting landscapes, but gouache and practice have reconciliated me with them. I also find that practicing things that I am uncomfortable with painting actually makes me improve quicker in all sorts of areas, and makes me enjoy said things in the end. And not only because I get better at painting them, but because I discover how fun they can be in the challenges they present. Am I making sense? Elliðaey Island by John Fleischman Via Flickr: The “world’s loneliest house” is actually a hunting lodge located on Elliðaey, an island within Iceland’s Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. Apparently, it is possible to visit the island but it’s a challenging experience. Perhaps it’s best left to the puffins.
