30 and 47

30. Meaning behind your url?

It’s from this poem that I wrote while I was first slipping into depression in 2010. That actual poem I wrote a month or two before I rebounded, in early 2011. 

It’s hard to put myself back exactly into my mindset when I wrote that. I often was awake in my dorm room alone at night, unable to sleep because by the end of the day all of my negative, grey empty feelings had puddled inside me and it was too much to be able to sleep with. I was dissatisfied with who I was and tearing myself apart, and this poem both reflected how I felt lost, out wandering alone in my own mind, but the hope that someday when I’d be asleep like I should someone would find me and know that deep inside I’d also found happiness again. 

The specific line I chose for my url just stands out to me… the idea of walking quietly past my mind, because there’s always going to be more to me that what meets the eye. I’ve always been someone who holds most of what I’m thinking/feeling close to my chest, which sometimes makes me feel isolated or that people don’t understand me (how original I know). It’s probably the one part of my tumblr that I can’t see changing, barring some major life change (and hey realizing I was gay didn’t even change it so I can’t see much else being more dramatically life changing than that).

47. Last song you sang?

Haha I’m always singing in the car to whatever music is playing. I think today it was “Gone, Gone, Gone” by Phillip Phillips that I was singing when I turned off the music.
