Fun Obsidian waste and Lost Mesa (preserve) facts! (One stony vale one too)
Already did Fablehaven so here goes some other preserves! They’re all together since they aren’t mentioned as much. Wyrmroost and living mirage will get their own

Jackalopes seem to only be found in the Lost Mesa preserve
Kachinas (seen in Fablehaven book 3 on the Painted Mesa) are extremely territorial and appear as humanoid creatures with animal heads
Dryads (tied to the forest as a whole, unlike hamadryads) guard the stony vale preserve as shown when Kendra approaches
Thylacines, who look like large striped greyhounds with long tails, are extinct everywhere but Obsidian Waste. Some are gifted with the power of speech
Yowies are another humanoid species of obsidian waste and will quickly retreat if too much interest in shown in them since as curious as they are they’re also quite shy and wary
Not mentioned anywhere but due to Lost mesas environment I imagine it’s a very easy place to find the fairies known for having scales or spines on them like other desert creatures. My favorite is the bat fairy mentioned to be flapping around
This is the most I have for now on these two preserves! They aren’t mentioned as much and the descriptions are much more in depth in the books!
