The roaring cheers of her fans made her heart soar. The glow of their sairiumu, or light sticks, was reflected in her starry, mismatched irises, illuminating them in pink. With a radiant smile, she bowed, long golden hair cascading over her shoulders, with both hands holding the custom pink microphone in front of her. She straightened up, waving at her fans with one hand as she raised the microphone to her smiling, glossed lips.

"Everyone! Thank you for coming out to support me! I can't wait to meet you all soon!"

Everything was going perfectly.

So why did it come to this?

The transition from the stage to the conference room where she was to do the meet-and-greets was smooth and without any hiccups. However, when she entered the conference room, she noticed how crowded it seemed. Like a sea of bodies, or more accurately, a sea of sairiumu—glow sticks—in her signature pink.

And... blue??

And it was loud, as expected, and abuzz with overlapping conversations of fans eagerly awaiting the chance to meet their oshi, but louder than the excited chatter were the voices of a pair of fans arguing, their yelling progressively getting louder and riling up others in the room. All over having to share the space with another idol's fans.

As more people got involved, either swept up in the argument or trying to stop other fans from further worsening the situation, Hikari stepped into action.

Rushing to the signing table, she stood atop a chair and cupped her hands around her mouth as she took a deep breath and projected her voice.

"Everyone, please settle down!"

However, the arguing voices drowned out her soft voice. Leaving her with little choice, she rushed into the crowd and tried to politely weave her way through to reach the bickering fans.

Ignoring the protests of security.

after her usual shift, rei was expecting to go home to a quiet apartment. not to see that her front door is broken, hanging on only by one of its hinges. someone broke into her home?

she rushes inside to check whatever damages there might be. hopefully, whoever broke in didn't steal her manga collection. or any of her fandom merch...

"what... the hell..?"

rei isn't sure if she should be mad or relieved to see that the people who broke into her home is only just kagura and her brother. people that she knows and not actual criminals. her kitchen is a mess and she has a feeling most, if not all, of her food is gone. rei lets out an aggravated sigh as she rubs at her forehead. "what do you two think you're doing? breaking into my home... who's idea was this?"

she's not really upset about her food being eaten. more like she's bothered by the fact that they broke in without her permission. and her door... her poor front door. who's going to fix that?

Jupiter blinked, looking around her in confusion. She wasn't home, that's for sure, and she couldn't seem to understand anything anyone was saying around her.

She couldn't really remember what she was doing prior to this, but, that didn't really matter right now. All around her were unfamiliar faces and she could hazard a guess that she was in another country? Just an educated guess based on the fact no one was speaking a language she understood.

What a conundrum for a little mute girl. Who knew she'd get caught up in some weird portal thing that caused her to traverse to another dimension?

The young girl sits down and starts contemplating on what to do next. She was incredibly shy and awkward around others due to her being mute. At this point, she could only hope someone would be willing to help her and have even the slightest of ideas on how to help her.

Odd happenings were almost common place in common day Namimori, so having something like animals escaping the zoo, a mountain God awakening from it's slumber, or having an actual sighting of a Tsuchinoko wasn't going to phase her anymore.

However, this was different. She only remembers hearing an explosion of some sort and opening her eyes to-- actually, she didn't know what she was looking at. Was this a futuristic Japan or something?

One look at the... aliens(?) told her that there was more to her current situation than she had the mental power to deduce.

Looking around, she wasn't sure who to reach out to for answers... much less help. For starters... "Hello? Can anyone help me?" She says in Japanese, hoping wherever this was, they could understand her.

She could have killed them all, so easily too, but the thought made Terra shiver and take a punch to the face. And then some more. Trying to avoid the worst hits, she used a wooden sword instead of a real one to deflect their blades, but in the end she was so scared of doing the wrong thing, that it was Kagura, the sweet kid from upstairs, who rescued her; she quickly got rid of the bad guys, and Terra gave up on fully holding back because it didn't seem fair to let her do everything, throwing a fireball straight at a man's face.

After, though, they sat on a bench so Terra could catch her breath and explain. "If I start fighting... either I hold back and... this happens because it's really hard to hold back enough... or I kill everyone. I don't know how to fight without killing." And in the soldiers' case, she didn't even need to resort to using the Bad Power that killed everything, a sword would have been enough. "I don't... want to be like that. I know I should, I know it's kill or be killed, in theory, but in practice... I don't want to die and I don't want to kill. So I don't know what to do... I have Esper blood so I'm supposed to want to hurt humans too, but I don't..."

Rain clung to the city in a thin silver haze, turning neon signs into smeared ribbons of color against the wet pavement. The streets were quieter this late, though not quiet enough to stop her nerves from prickling beneath her skin. She’d learned after leaving Salem that cities had their own kind of danger. Less ancient perhaps, less steeped in ritual and superstition, but danger all the same. Still, she preferred this. In a city this large, people usually minded their business. No one looked twice at strange women walking home late from dance studios. No one cared if she kept odd hours or wore long sleeves even when it wasn’t cold enough to justify them. It was easier to disappear here. Easier to pretend she was normal.

Tonight, though, something kept pulling at her instincts. Gabriella stepped beneath the glow of a flickering storefront sign, adjusting the strap of her bag higher onto her shoulder. Music played softly through one earbud, nearly drowned out by rain tapping against awnings overhead. She almost missed the feeling entirely at first. Almost. That sensation of being watched. Not in the harmless way women grew used to. This was focused. Intentional. Like the weight of a knife resting carefully against the back of her neck.

Hazel hues lifted slowly across the street. A man stood near the corner convenience store, rain soaking through crimson hair without any sign he cared. Hands tucked lazily into his pockets, posture relaxed enough to look harmless if not for the feeling radiating off him. It wasn’t supernatural exactly. Not ghostly. Not cursed. Just… violent. Like someone who had spent his entire life learning how to break things apart. And he was staring directly at her. Her stomach tightened immediately. Maybe it was paranoia. Maybe she was projecting old fears onto a stranger. But she’d spent enough of her life hunted by things seen and unseen to trust her instincts when they screamed at her to move. So she did. Her pace remained measured as she continued down the sidewalk, resisting the urge to look back immediately. Human. Be human. Panic drew attention. Panic made prey.

The footsteps behind her started a few moments later. Unhurried. Casual. That somehow unsettled her more than if he’d sprinted. A cold knot twisted tighter beneath her ribs as she turned down a quieter side street lined with closed storefronts and dim apartment windows. The city noise dulled here, leaving only rain water dripping from fire escapes overhead and the steady sound of footsteps still following behind her. The witch finally stopped beneath the weak buzz of a broken street lamp. Slowly, she turned. The emerald hidden behind her hazel hues flickered once before settling again, subtle enough that most people would miss it entirely. Her fingers curled tighter against the strap of her bag, posture careful despite the tension wound through her body.

“…You’ve been following me for three blocks,” she said softly. Calmly. Though her pulse had started to climb hard enough she could hear it in her ears. “If you’re trying to ask for directions, this is a really strange way to do it.” A weak joke. Mostly to buy herself time. Because the longer she looked at him, the more certain she became of one thing: Whoever this man was, he hadn’t approached her by accident.

So, this is it. This is how his generosity is repaid. With theft. With betrayal. Being treated no better than how Tien was treated after the 22nd Budokai. He clothes her. He feeds her. He lets her sleep under his roof and even use the good soap every now and again. And what does he have to show for his generosity? Nothing but an empty wallet, an empty stomach and a shattered heart...

Honestly, though, it wasn't that big of a deal. They had plenty of jobs lined up, so making that amount of money back would be a piece of cake. And at the end of the day, Kagura was still a growing girl. And for all the work that she did in helping with Yorozuya's activities, maybe she deserved to be spoiled every now and then. Gin understood that well enough.
