More Canadian whisky! 🍁🇨🇦 This cask strength rye was described to me as Jewish delicatessen spices and it was absolutely spot on. Reminded me of all the spices in a matzoh ball soup! Going to have to start taking Canadian rye more seriously and start adding some of these to my bunker. #canadian #canada #canadianwhisky #lot40 #lot40rye #canadianrye #barrelproof #caskstrength #whisky #whiskey #rye #canadianwhiskey #ryewhiskey #ryewhisky (at Chicago, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2-QWpIHrXu/?igshid=ywz25gyu082j

Just 3 spots left for our Very Canadian Whisky Tasting Feb 13th @spirithouseto with @ambassador_spencer. Try 4 distinct Canadian Whiskies. #GooderhamandWorts Four Grain, a blend of corn, wheat, rye, and barely that pays tribute to Canada’s whisky history. #JPWisers 18 Year, an all corn whisky matured for 18 years in white oak barrels before being carefully blend. #Lot40, an small batch, copper pot, 100% local rye whisky that showcases the grain that gave Canadian whisky its name. And Pike Creek, which rests for 10 years in the severe temperature swings of the Canadian climate before finishing in rum barrels. Pike Creek will also be featured in @spirithouseto’s Maple Smoked Old Fashioned. When people say buy local, I’m sure this is what they meant. :) #Toronto #torontocommon #torontotaste #torontolife #torontowhisky #torontodrink #torontofun #canadianwhisky (at SpiritHouse Toronto)

Thank you to Revelry for such a delicious 4-course tiki dinner. I was full after the 2nd course but couldn't stop eating! Did I mention each came with a paired #lot40 cocktail? @rkbatx #revelry #tikidinner #atx #tikicocktails #texastikiweek #tikiweek #tikiaf #tiki (at Revelry Kitchen + Bar)
Epic tasting this past weekend with some friends, simply epic. Some of the highlights - From top to bottom:
1. Lot 40 Rye - Mmm... Tasty. I can't decide if it's worth $55-60 dollars a bottle but its good stuff. Mainly because it doesn't taste like any Rye I've had before it.
2. Barterhouse 20 yr. Stitzel Weller Bourbon - First release of the Orphan Barrel project. I have to say I like it - tastes like the Jefferson's 18 to an extent. A lithe harsher finish, otherwise similar.
3. William Larue Weller BTAC - simply amazing, this is a worthy bottle to stand atop them all. @ barrel proof - for a whetted bourbon, its still very smooth with a lot of flavors going on. I loved it. Need to find more bottles and it is now rivaling my George T. Stagg for supremacy in the yearly BTAC release.
4. Pappy Van Winkle 23 yr. Bourbon - The creme de la creme of bourbon. I'm not sure how they do it - such an old bourbon with such a smooth taste, but they make it work in spades. It is expensive, it is hard to find, it is overhyped, but it is also really really good. If someone ever offers you a taste of this, just do it.
5. Four Roses 2013 Limited Edition Small Batch Release - one 18 yr. blended with two 13 yr. bourbons from Four Roses creates one of last years best releases. For me, I would take 3 bottles of this over 1 bottle of Pappy 23, since that's how much more Pappy @ retail is, and this Four Roses Limited Release ain't cheap.
The last 3 have some of the best noses in the business, worth smelling for awhile before drinking.
