A STORM OF SWORDS — Sansa VI
Jeynsa parallels (3/?) : Bear companions
Based on them having "bear" related themes and being non traditional companions of trapped ladies who are faking their identities , i think they're going to accompany them for their journeys throughout TWOW by being another twist on the "bear and the maiden fair" imagery from the song.
Alayne wondered what Mya made of Ser Lothor. With his squashed nose, square jaw, and nap of woolly grey hair, Brune could not be called comely, but he was not ugly either. It is a common face but an honest one. Though he had risen to knighthood, Ser Lothor's birth had been very low. One night he had told her that he was kin to the Brunes of Brownhollow, an old knightly family from Crackclaw Point. "I went to them when my father died," he confessed, "but they shat on me, and said I was no blood of theirs." He would not speak of what happened after that, except to say that he had learned all he knew of arms the hard way. Sober, he was a quiet man, but a strong one. And Petyr says he's loyal. He trusts him as much as he trusts anyone
And we had other help, unexpected but most welcome, from a daughter of Bear Island. Alysane Mormont, whose men name her the She-Bear, hid fighters inside a gaggle of fishing sloops and took the ironmen unawares where they lay off the strand.
"The black brothers will accompany you as far as Castle Black," the king went on. "The ironmen are to remain here, supposedly to fight for us. Another gift from Tycho Nestoris. Just as well, they would only slow you down. Ironmen were made for ships, not horses. Lady Arya should have a female companion as well. Take Alysane Mormont."
I was thinking about the fact that Catelyn compare Sansa to two girls, Brienne of Tarth and Mya Stone, and both seems to connect her and Sandor again !
Let's start with Mya Stone. Not only both are bastards in the Vale, at same age in which Ned was in Vale with Robert, but both similar in Catelyn's eyes :
Mya shook her head. "I remember a man throwing me in the air when I was very little. He stands as tall as the sky, and he throws me up so high it feels as though I'm flying." (A Feast for Crows - Alayne II)
"Mychel's my love," Mya explained. "Mychel Redfort. He's squire to Ser Lyn Corbray. We're to wed as soon as he becomes a knight, next year or the year after." She sounded so like Sansa, so happy and innocent with her dreams. ( A Game of Thrones - Catelyn VI )
All we know about Mya is that she is a Stone, a bastard living in the Vale, exactly as Sansa is now,
"Mya Stone, if it please you, my lady," the girl said. [..] Stone was a bastard's name in the Vale, as Snow was in the north, and Flowers in Highgarden; in each of the Seven Kingdoms, custom had fashioned a surname for children born with no names of their own. ( A Game of Thrones - Catelyn VI )
Ser Harrold looked down at her coldly. "Why should it please me to be escorted anywhere by Littlefinger's bastard?" All three Waynwoods looked at him askance. ( The Winds of Winter - Alayne I )
that she was highly disappointed by her supposed first love, of her age, as it was for Sansa,
Mya had straw in her hair and a scowl on her face. That scowl comes of having Mychel Redfort near, Alayne knew. (The Winds of Winter - Alayne I)
Once she had loved Prince Joffrey with all her heart, and admired and trusted his mother, the queen. They had repaid that love and trust with her father's head. Sansa would never make that mistake again. (A Clash of Kings - Sansa I)
and that this love even end up marrying someone else, exactly as for Sansa.
"Mychel was the best young swordsman in the Vale, and gallant...or so poor Mya thought, till he wed one of Bronze Yohn's daughters." (A Feast for Crows - Alayne II)
Joffrey and Margaery stood surrounded by Kingsguard atop the steps that fronted on the broad marble plaza. Ser Addam and his gold cloaks held back the crowd, while the statue of King Baelor the Blessed gazed down on them benevolently. Tyrion had no choice but to queue up with the rest to offer congratulations. (A Storm of Swords - Tyrion VIII)
Mya has attracted the attention of a older man, and not only Sansa noticed it but she seems even to want to see them happy together.
He always smiles when he speaks of Mya Stone. Mya was much younger than Ser Lothor, but when her father had been brokering the marriage between Lord Corbray and his merchant's daughter, he'd told her that young girls were always happiest with older men. "Innocence and experience make for a perfect marriage," he had said. ( A Feast for Crows - Alayne I )
Alayne wondered what Mya made of Ser Lothor. With his squashed nose, square jaw, and nap of woolly grey hair, Brune could not be called comely, but he was not ugly either. It is a common face but an honest one. ( A Feast for Crows - Alayne II )
"Ser Lothor is fond of her." Alayne glanced down at the mule girl, twenty steps below. "More than fond." ( A Feast for Crows - Alayne II)
We know that, unlike Sandor, Lothor did not diserted from the battle and become a knight while Sandor always refused knight's vows and lost his opportunity to be one the same night Lothor gain it.
The Hound escorted her across the drawbridge. As they were winding their way up the steps, she said, "Why do you let people call you a dog? You won't let anyone call you a knight." (A Clash of Kings - Sansa II)
The Hound had turned craven, she heard it said; at the height of the battle, he got so drunk the Imp had to take his men. But Sansa understood. She knew the secret of his burned face. It was only the fire he feared. That night, the wildfire had set the river itself ablaze, and filled the very air with green flame. (A Storm of Swords - Sansa I)
The ladder to the forecastle was steep and splintery, so Sansa accepted a hand up from Lothor Brune. Ser Lothor, she had to remind herself; the man had been knighted for his valor in the Battle of the Blackwater. (A Storm of Swords - Sansa VI)
But same time we saw Sansa immediantly draw a line that unite Sandor and Lothor because..she immediantly image Sandor as protector in his place.
"Lord Petyr said watch out for you." It was Lothor Brune's voice, she realized. Not the Hound's, no, how could it be? Of course it had to be Lothor… (A Storm of Swords - Sansa VI)
"I could keep you safe," he rasped. "They're all afraid of me. No one would hurt you again, or I'd kill them." (A Clash of Kings - Sansa VII)
Brienne too get compared to Sansa by Catelyn :
"There was always a singer at Evenfall Hall when I was a girl," Brienne said quietly. "I learned all the songs by heart." "Sansa did the same, though few singers ever cared to make the long journey north to Winterfell." (A Clash of Kings - Catelyn VI)
Sansa and Brienne are two idealistic spirits that never stop to belive that sings are the beacon of hopes in a cynic world :
Be brave, she told herself. Be brave, like a lady in a song. (A Storm of Swords - Sansa V)
Should we die in battle, they will surely sing of us, and it's always summer in the songs. In the songs all knights are gallant, all maids are beautiful, and the sun is always shining. (A Clash of Kings - Catelyn II)
She called for the heroes from the songs, for Florian and Ser Ryam Redwyne and Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, but no one heard. (A Clash of Kings - Sansa IV)
I will find her, my lady, Brienne swore to Lady Catelyn's restless shade. I will never stop looking. I will give up my life if need be, give up my honor, give up all my dreams, but I will find her. (A Feast for Crows - Brienne II)
It can be such a small details that most people lost but there is a chapter where Jaime compare Brienne to a hound and to the Hound, and GRRM confirmed that Jaime and Brienne are the beauty and the best of ASOIAF.
"My name is Brienne," she repeated, dogged as a hound. (A Storm of Swords - Jaime I)
Brienne broke off rowing. Sweat had stuck strands of her flax-colored hair to her forehead, and her grimace made her look homelier than ever. "You are under my protection," she said, her voice so thick with anger that it was almost a growl. He had to laugh at such fierceness. She's the Hound with teats, he thought. (A Storm of Swords - Jaime I)
I dont pretend to say that this is another foreshadow of SanSan, expecially when we have some that are way more interestings, but it seems that even while far away Sandor and Sansa cant stop to be connected to each other - GRRM love them, platonically or romantically doesnt matter.

Lady Ryger,
I pray this letter reaches you in good health, and that you are as full of light and life as you were on the day I first saw you. I do not know where you could possibly be now, but I miss you dearly. You are my last thought before I lay my head to rest, and my first in the morn when I wake. You are everything to me, and I am a fool for letting you slip through my fingers as I have. A long and hard journey is ahead of me, and the winds of winter grow colder on the horizon. As a child, I was told the story of the Last Hero, the man who fought off the Others and brought on the dawn. He wandered for so long looking for the Children, that all of his companions died, and then his horse, and then finally his dog left this world. I always wondered what propelled him to continue to put one foot in front of another, walking alone for years upon end, but now I see the truth. Never once was he truly alone. His heart was filled with love and the drive to win in order to get back to someone. To me, you are that someone.
You are my hope, the North Star that guides me in the night. However much you are missing me, I miss you a thousand times over. I love you with all my heart. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you so much more than what can be written in words, or spoken at all. I love you on a level that has transcended physical, emotional, and any descriptor man has ever thought up. With my whole heart, I believe you are my one true love. The person I am meant to be with for the rest of my life. I wish to wake up and see your face lying next to me every morn. I wish to hold you when you’re cold, and warm your hands by the fire. I wish to grow old with you, my love. I wish to see Wintertown fill to its full capacity by your side fifty times over. I wish to live and die with you, to walk the path of life side by side, until we pass on into whatever journey comes after death. I can say with full certainty, that once you have received this letter, and all is said and out in the open, I will die happy.
By the time you have reached this point, you may be wondering why I am telling you this now. Why not sooner? Why not before I left? The answer is that this may be the final time we ever make contact. In case I die, and I never get to say these things to your face, to kiss your perfect lips and hold you tight, I’m writing you this letter. I pray I get to do all of those things, that I get to tell you this to your eyes, and see your reaction with mine. But I simply must accept there is a possibility I never get that chance. So I write to you now. My only hope is that I am not too late in this confession. That I have not forsaken you by my death, and you still hold even a sliver of affection for me in your heart. I, Sansa Stark, eldest daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn, heir to Winterfell and the North, am, at the moment, dead. Soon I will rise from my grave and retake my homeland. Though, before I can do that I must shed the cloak I have been wearing for so long, and that means risking my life in a way that is unfamiliar to me. I mean to ride for the Wall, and meet with my half-brother, Jon. Meet me there, Y/N. Please. I long to see your face, to kiss you as if you were a knight from the songs and I was your princess in a tower. I yearn for every inch of you. When I wake, I will be the last Stark. So I ask you, this one time, this one most important time, Lady Y/N, will you aid me in the fight for my home? No matter where you might be in that fight, all I wish is to know that you will always and forever be on my side. For I will always be on yours. In the time since I left the Capital, I have had no word of your existence. I have not prayed since my mother and brother’s deaths, but every night and every morn, I pray to the Old Gods that you are safe and that you are happy. I wonder if this is how my mother felt about my father, and how my brother Robb felt about the girl he sacrificed everything for. It must be. Under the cloak I have hidden under lies a sleeping Sansa Stark, I often find she looks like Lady. I have dyed my hair a dark brown, sometimes it looks almost black. I have changed my voice, my dress, and the way I present myself. I have fully taken upon the role of a bastard of the Eyrie. I pretend it has seeped into my heart, but it cannot. Nothing of the sort could ever do such a thing when you have grasped a hold of such a big piece of it. We ride for Gulltown soon, after the tourney, and there I will flee. I plan to steal away with a mare of my own, and ride to the docks where I might book passage to White Harbor or Ramsgate. Once I step foot onto Northern soil, I will be the woman I hope you love once more. Until then, wait for me, ride north and wait for me, Y/N Ryger.
Signed,
Alayne
The Hand’s tourney really is the perfect chapter for set up of characters and plots coming:
We’ve got Thoros of Myr mentioned
The Royce coming to Winterfell and being allies to the North, foreshadowing both the Vale being loyal to th north after the war and the link between house Royce and house Stark in particular.
Balon Swann and Lothor Brune are also at the tourney.
Loras get his big introduction against the mountain
It is also the first interaction between Sansa, the Hound and Baelish which are extremely important for her arcs.
We also get to see some of Baristan prouesse as a knight and we get to witness the brutality of the Mountain for the first time.
Is it also the first description of a long long dinner, I mean they had one in Winterfell but not an entire chapter on what they eat, right ?
