i have SO many fucking problems with the amazon lotr series (i will be pirating, you cowardly bastards, fuck giving amazon prime money) but just one of them is that they are RE-CASTING GALADRIEL???????? WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT “huh i bet we can find someone better than cate blanchett” YOU CAN”T YOU LITERALLY CANNOT. HOW DARE YOU? THE AUDACITY??? this tag is gonna grow so fucking much because i already hate this show with a passion i would like to say that i have nothing against moryfyyd clark (who will be playing galadriel), in fact, i wish her all the luck in the role. but whoever decided to recast galadriel needs to take a fucking seat. she’s a beloved and important character  to the history of middle earth, and taking a risk by choosing another actress instead of simply paying cate blanchett more to come back is an insult.

Saw an anti-Northern Independence post, which related it to the lessons we can learn from LOTR (anti-isolationism and anti-etnocentricism)

Which yes, we can learn from that. What these antis apparently learned is, 'let this one person rule' and not 'all nations should come together as equals and fight the bad guys.'

In LOTR the elves, dwarves, humans, hobbits, ghosts put aside all their petty shit to fight the armies of Mordor.

"Gondor calls for aid." "And Rohan will answer."

See how there's no 'but only if they bend the knee?' No, everyone came together, leaving their petty politics behind.

Jon and Dany are not equals (they are monarch and subject) They are not going into this fight as equals. They are not even going into this fight as equally wholehearted. As soon as it's clear that Cersei lied, Dany is going to be conflicted on what to do, when fighting ice zombies should be the only option.

The Northern Lords should leave their petty politics behind, but it's really hard if someone brings in a queen who's all about that life.

If Dany had come in and said, "I want to rule your continent, but honestly let's forget about that right now. We'll figure that shit out later." the vibe would've been so much different and a lot less hostile. Either everyone leaves their petty shit behind or no one does.

Unity through choice is what Tolkien taught us. Unity through force is what the Targaryens gave us (Dany included)

P.S. If we're going by lessons Tolkien taught us 'dragons are bad, mkay?' is a pretty prevalent one.

I'm five minutes in and brain is already ruining it. I know in the books Celebrimbor and his gang made the original 19, but in the movie it's presented as:
