'This lovespoon carries Welsh symbols: the Celtic Cross represents the history of Wales and the Church, the Dragon and Daffodil are national symbols (although perhaps the Dragon could also signify a passionate affair for some people).

Lovespoons originated as a courtship custom. A man would carve a small spoon out of one piece of wood, and then present it to a girl as a gift. If she accepted the spoon, it was taken as a token of betrothal. The original lovespoons were intended to be worn secretly on a ribbon around the neck. And in many parts of Wales the Welsh word for a lover is still ‘sponer’ (literally meaning ‘spooner’).'

...minding your own business. And you see this really great headline:

And once you're over the natural and completely understandable wave of nausea that you get every time you're forced to read about *shudders* Bangor, you are delighted! This Mayor Hurcum looks like a delightful and engaged young person and it's fantastic to see not just a member of the LGBT+ community getting elected but also a young person getting active in local politics.

And then you see it.

The photo.

The fabulous, wonderful photo that the new Mayor of Bangor has circulated of themselves as part of all this lovely, positive press:

And you are consumed by one thought and one thought alone:

"I need that mug."

Because what self-respecting Queer Welshie doesn't need a pride flag Lovespoon mug in their life?

It took me all of 17 seconds to find it. The Google search "pride lovespoon mug" took me straight to the lovely Gan Sara's Etsy shop (she's also on Instagram) where I discovered many pride flag lovespoon items (the mug currently only comes in the OG flag pattern cuz it's a very new addition but if they sell well the range may expand).

And then it was just a case of waiting.

BUT WE WAIT NO LONGER MY FRIENDS!

FOR IT HAS ARRIVED!

AND IT IS GLORIOUS!

Now I just have to resist the urge to buy 50 more.

I love it so much.
