Hi Sicily! Goodness, this is an old ask! Forgive me for the incredibly late response; I bring you today some Rui and Akaza cause my god- do I love them both so much! TwT <3 I originally was gonna make this one super fluffy- and it is! Then it got strangely melancholy towards the end 👀 All the same, I hope you like it! :D

CW: Potential spoilers for Akaza's backstory- nothing detailed, but heavily implied, some angst

“That is all for today. Don’t disappoint me.”

Muzan’s icy words cut deeply into Akaza’s core, so much so he didn’t feel the usual whiplash he got whenever Nakime teleported him. He shivered, staring into space like he was staring down a void.

“Lord Akaza.” A familiar voice. His senses were coming back. Moss and oak and wet bark entered his nose, and the ground beneath his bare feet was soft and squishy. He was in Mount Natagumo, and before his eyes..

“Lord Akaza?” Rui’s voice seemed to shake- the slightest tremor. The kind of thing only an Upper Rank would pick up. “Are you…well?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah. I’m fine.” He shook his head, clearing away Lord Muzan’s words. He was done for the day- at least at the moment. “Sorry, did I scare you?”

Rui narrowed his eyes slightly, straightening his shoulders. “I do not scare easily, Lord Akaza.”

Whoa. The redhead raised a brow, both amused and perplexed at the spider’s attitude. Usually when it was just the two of them, all guards and walls were down. “Am I intruding?”

A twitch, something shook across the spider’s gaze. Ah, now he saw what was going on. “No, you’re not. I’m simply addressing you as I should. You’re an uppermoon, and I-”

“Walk with me.” Akaza didn’t turn around, the words cold and final. He walked down the pathway of the mountain, not slowing down and not looking back. Soon after, he heard Rui’s footsteps follow.

They continued down the path for miles, staying out of the falling sun’s beams as they carefully navigated shaded branches and scrubs. By the time they reached the bottom of the mountain, the sun had set completely, encasing them in darkness.

“There. That should be far enough.” Satisfied, Akaza fell backwards onto the nearest patch of grass, stretching out his limbs. Then he sat criss-crossed, looking expectantly at the younger demon. He didn’t say a word, just smiled.

Rui hesitated, looking back at the mountain path once more before crossing the distance, crawling into Akaza’s lap. Now he was back to his usual self. “Sorry.”

“I get it. You wanna look cool before your spider family.” Akaza ran a hand through Rui’s thick white locks, grinning at the embarrassed look on his face. “What? Am I wrong?”

“V-Very! I wasn’t trying to loo-ohohohk coohoohhohool! L-Lohoohhrd Ahahahakahahaza!” The pale spider giggled at the fingers on his sides, gentle and teasing. “N-Nohohoh, dohohohon’t!”

“Don’t what? Tickle you? Sorry- you climbed into my lap, which means you want me to play with you, yeah?” The demon cooed down at him, keeping up his playful attack. It soothed him, the sound of Rui’s laughter. “And what did I tell you? You don’t need to call me “Lord” when it’s just us.”

“Iihihiht’s a fohohohorce of hahahabit! Eheahha-EHEHE!” A hand on his belly had Rui arching against him, falling into his chest as his little legs kicked. The dots on his kimono were great finger marks, Akaza decided, pressing into them with all five digits. “Ehehehehehe! Nohoohohoohot thahahahahhat!”

“What’s wrong? Is someone too ticklish? All you have to do is leave my lap if you want it to end.” The stripped demon gave him the option, pausing briefly to see what he’d do. Rui’s tittered quieted down, his shy smile hidden in his sleeve. “So? What’s it gonna be?”

The spider looked up at him, then at the surrounding area. To Akaza’s delight, he snuggled closer to him, a hand clinging to his vest as he avoided his gaze.

“Hah, I knew it! Too snug are you, little bug?” Akaza sang, wrapping both arms around him as he tickled with all ten fingers. Rui all but spasmed in his lap, happy childish squeals and shrieks ripping from his throat in response. “I suppose you’ve been waiting all day for me to come by- that’s why you found me so quickly. You know I can’t say no to you!”

“Ahahhahahahakahahahhazahahahahha! Ehaehahahhaha, it tihihihihihickles toohohohhooho muhuhuhuch!” Rui cried out, little fists clinging tightly to Akaza’s vest once more. His feet kicked a silly beat against his leg, harmless little taps. Whether Rui was intentionally holding back or it was simply his Uppermoon strength, he didn’t know. What he did know was the spider was clinging closer to him rather than wiggling away, inadvertently signaling how much fun he was having. “Pleahahhahshe, leheheheht me gohohoohoho!”

“Hehe, okay okay.” Akaza did, laughing harder when Rui log rolled away. He turned a few more times before hopping to his feet, giggling all the way. “Had enough?”

“Ehehe! Never!” To Akaza’s shock and delight, the kid actually tried to tickle him! He dived back into the redhead’s arms, fingers scratching rapidly at his neck and shoulders. “Tahhake that!”

“Ohohoho! It’s so ohohohon! Come here!” He gently pushed him off, shooting to his feet with raised claws. The joy in Rui’s expression was infectious. “Come here, little bug!”

“Ah!” Rui squealed and ran, never going too far as Akaza gave chase. They ran in circles, their laughter filling the air around them. Sometimes he’d get Rui, and sometimes he’d let the spider get a win. It didn’t tickle that bad, but it was still enough to get him giggling!

He was honestly kinda proud, not gonna lie.

At some point their tickle chase turned into wrestling, and before long they were laying on the wet grass once more, Rui captured in Akaza’s arms as they laughed themselves sick. “Gohohot you now, spider kid!” Akaza cried out, ruffling Rui’s hair.

“Nohohoho! You got me!” He shouted back, grinning up at the redhead. Something about the expression made his chest do a funny thing- a dull ache he couldn’t quite describe settled deep within his core. Rui seemed to notice, his smile faltering some. “What’s wrong?”

“Hm?”

“Your smile got sad suddenly.” Rui reached up with his free hand, patting his cheek. “Did you remember something sad?”

Did he? Akaza’s past was still unknown. Still, to recall even the essence of how he once felt…

“I must have had a kid like you.” Akaza mused out loud, watching Rui tilt his head. “Or at least- someone who was just as precious to me as you are.”

The spider froze over at that, eyes going big and a hint of tears glossing them over. Akaza immediately felt bad, but then Rui had thrown his arms around his neck, burying his face into his chest. “Did you love them? This person?”

“I think I did.” The ache returned. Stronger than ever. “I’m sad I can’t remember their name, or their face. But..I remember them here.” He patted Rui’s head where he’d touch his heart, squeezing the spider closer to him when he started to shake. “And while it hurts to do so, it means they were real. I never want to lose that feeling.”

“I hope you can remember them.” Rui’s small voice made his eyes burn. He bit the inside of his cheek as he willed away the sudden tears. When Rui’s wet gaze met his, he smiled gently, wiping the falling tears with his thumb.

“I do too. Now- no more crying. I’ve done enough of that today.” He pretended to shudder, making the smaller demon laugh. “How about I tell you a story? I learned this one while traveling.”

“I’m a little old for those.” Once again, Rui was trying to look tough. Akaza gave him a squinty eyed look before tickling him quickly, making him squeal. “Oohohoakay, ohohohkay! One stoohohory!”

“Good! Now listen closely, cause I might fall asleep if I have to tell it twice.” Akaza got comfortable, his arm becoming Rui’s pillow as they laid face to face under the moonlight. From there, he began a tale he made up as he went, about a teal-striped tiger who found a family with a tiny white spider and all the adventures they’d go on.

I’m sorry for not remembering you. He thought to the ache in his chest, watching Rui’s sleeping face as it returned. One day I will. For now, though- I want to make room in there for him. Do you think that’ll be okay? Something warm and comforting came next, easing his pain. He smiled, pressing a hand to his chest as if to trap both feelings there for good.

“Thank you.”

Where my lower moon lovers at?

I just learned cults will put drugs in the stuff they give you for you to "behave"...

Soo.... what the hell is Douma using??? Or his eyes are the drug? Like if you stare at his eyes to long you'll become hypnotized or someshit idk it's not normal to have rainbow eyes

And if he does use any form of drug, would he test it out on the lowermoons and or uppermoons without their consent? Like randomly offering one of them human meat that's filled with LSD.

And Muzan doesn't really say anything about too. He actually encourages Douma on this so he can use some of these drugs on his experiments. He probably doesn't support the fact he's using it on the uppermoons and Rui, but the other lowermoons and low-life demons are completely ok to experiment with.

what upper/lowermoons frightens you the most?

EVERYONE—. THEY ALL SCARE ME—

[From occ, Mukago try and be specific!] I can do that. Yup. Uhm..I-I find them all scary but I suppose the most scariest to me is obviously @blue-spider-lilies..eek!

Definitely Upper 1 @kokush1boaskblog & 2 @douma-upper2 comes next, their strength is admirable, but also scary!! Especially Douma-sans weird..smile…

Lower 1 @ask-locomotive-enthusiast can get..quite creepy when he talks about his..trains.

@epic-thunder-moon smile is also..frightening. and @hideous-brother’s is too..

since Rui is constantly in and out of a tube the lower moons a lot of the time sit around it and wait for him as they count Rui as family and really care about him(a lot of the time he's took when they are playing)

Since kamanue is accident prone he's under surveillance by kokushibou so he doesn't get hurt too bad(he gets minor injuries like hitting head, small bruises, etc)

Kaigaku is a mean child but is still treated kindly to by others which confuses him half of the time but he's learning to be nicer

(If you guys are wondering yes the hashiras and them exist here I'm still thinking about them)

Hantengus DID has caused some problems as his alters aren't the best thing to muzan sometimes they piss him off

Gyokko has a thing for drawing and does it a lot which inspired others to start drawing(Gyokko started Drawing cause kokushibou showed him stuff about art)

Akaza is the oldest out of the moons

Rui is the youngest

They all do make it to teen ages and do keep maturing it's just some mature slower then others

Demons exist in this world but are more well hidden and many keep low profiles as to muzans commands

The moons were his first attempt at making living life and he plans on making more to see how far he can go without making flaw

(Won't lie I'm having in mind the thought of nezuko being made by muzan and she escapes from him and finds tanjiro and she just becomes a part of his family idk yet)

Muzan has experimented on himself before to see how well things would work and has caused himself great deals of pain and stress

muzan spends most of his time working on fixing ruis weak body and keeps him away from any potentially deadly things

Even telling the moons to keep him away from harmful things

The lower moons are mostly still kids and like being carried around Rui has to be at times because his legs stop moving(Kokushibou muzan or any moons can carry him even the lower)

Douma and gyokko both like to do makeup so they either do it to each other, in the mirror, or to the others

Muzan tells them to act as if they were a family but they all know they are in no way related to each other but they still act like a family

Kny lab au (PETS)

Yes you read that right Pets!

Muzan bought pets for certain moons as to either show his gratitude of how well they are doing or just to be "nice"

Gyokko has a couple fish in a tank cause muzan notices how much he

1.Draws fish

And

2. Looks at stuff about them

Hantengu has a cat(a munchkin) and 2 birds cause of his problem(Urogi loves the birds the most out of the others)

Akaza has a puppy(hakuji was the one who bought it with permission cause akaza wouldn't stop bothering him over it) it's a husky

Kamanue has a hamster which he doesn't take care of alone(kokushibou and the others help)

Gyutaro wanted a pet him and daki would both like apparently they both wanted sugar gliders cause they thought they were cute

Muzan sees no need for a pet himself neither does kokushibou

We already know Rui has pets(which scare a lot of the others but they've gotten used to it)
