Hiiiii!! I keep meaning to ask you this and then promptly forgetting 🤣. You are my DC mutual™️ so I wondered if you'd seen the teaser trailer for the new supergirl movie coming out next year (i think) and if you have, what your first thoughts are? (if you have any you'd wanna share!!!) 🫶

I only watched the trailer to answer this ask ñalksdfj. Haterism ahead, sns :P

My main takeaway is that it's a pity Milly Alcock is going to play Kara in a film I don't want to watch. She's the only part that could tempt me because it's clear she'll be a great Kara!! But I'm not at all interested in the Gunnverse, and even less in the Gunn-collaborating-with-war-criminal-nepo-baby Tom King 'verse. Which I'm guessing will be an even bigger element in Supergirl, as the story is based on one of his comics.

And the thing is, I did enjoy Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow on first read. It hits some notes with her character I liked a lot, I can't deny that, but it now seems to be all some people want with Kara when there's so much more to her.

It's also one of those stories that when you learn a thing or two about the author's life, you start seeing very differently. And in many ways it was carried by Bilquis Evely's gorgeous art and... that trailer looked ugly as sin sns. Just... compare.

In many ways the trailer also telegraphed the film is going to be worse than the comic, mainly by adding that type of juvenile humour and edginess Gunn loves.

On top of that now it features fucking Lobo, who is one of the most annoying characters they could've added and a sex pest. And casting Jason Momoa for the part? I won't say it's the most racist shit Gunn has pulled, but it's certainly in the running!

So uh. Yeah. I'm a hater lmao. Good for everyone who enjoyed Superman as a fun romp and are looking forward to something similar with Kara, I'm sure it'll deliver on that front as long as you don't look too closely (same as Superman imo). But it's definitely not for me.

Luuuuce my love!! <3 Thank you for this question, I've been thinking about a lot since you sent it. I think I've finally narrowed it down.

1 - Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party by Hayley Williams

This one surprised me, because I've never really liked much of Hayley's solo stuff before this. But I think this record's vulnerability and honesty about getting older and introspection really resonated with me. I like the blend of different genres - the way Hayley approached it more as a collection of songs than a traditional album let her experiment a lot and it resulted in some really good work. I like this record a lot more than I've liked anything from Paramore or Hayley's other solo work in a long, long time.

Standout tracks: EDAABP, Brotherly Hate, True Believer, Discovery Channel, Hard, and Parachute

2 - That's Showbiz Baby! by Jade

It was so exciting to see Jade's first solo record come to fruition. She was always my favorite in Little Mix. And I think she truly showed that her understanding and mastery of pop music is genius-level, at this point. This album blended so many genres and styles. It's just a really delightful listen, top to bottom - full of humor and self-deprecation, but also a lot of introspection. Her vocals are, naturally, so SO stellar. I cherish Little Mix, but I do think this album shows that Jade could - and should! - be a star in her own right. I'm really excited to hear the new bonus tracks!

Standout tracks: Angel of My Dreams, IT Girl, FUFN (Fuck You For Now), Unconditional, Headache, and Natural at Disaster

3 - Breach by Twenty One Pilots

I got to listen to this one from start-to-finish during a long drive. I wasn't really expecting such a close follow-up to Clancy - I like TOP a lot but I'm not really up on the lore - but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this record. I've been a big fan of Twenty One Pilots since "Car Radio" was a hit, and I've really enjoyed watching them grow as artists and a songwriting duo. This album showcases a lot of Josh's drum skills and still has the classic, esoteric-yet-specific imagery that makes Tyler's lyrics so compelling. I think Breach ranks overall towards the middle of my TOP rankings, but it was a really good record from 2025!

Standout tracks: RAWFEAR, The Contract, Drum Show, Center Mass, One Way, and Days Lie Dormant

4 - moisturizer by Wet Leg

I was so glad my good friend and mutual @cheeerfuloblivion recommended this band to me! For one, they're super fun in their live performances - they have great band chemistry and seem like they're having a blast playing music together. And their sound is so groovy, fun, and refreshing. The lead singer has a stellar voice, an unexpectedly impressive range. "Mangetout" is my favorite pump-up song from this year!

Standout tracks: mangetout, davina mccall, jennifer's body, 11:21, CPR, and catch these fists

5 - Everybody Scream by Florence + the Machine

A late arrival, but the Halloween release date was perfect - because this is a spooky, spiritual, feminine, raw album about magic and sex and heartbreak and ferocity and feminism and rage. It's a really good record for the season, and also just in general! I have to be in the right mood to listen to Florence, but I've found myself in the right mood for this record a lot! One of my favorite F+tM releases in a long time!

Standout tracks: One of the Greats, Perfume and Milk, Buckle, The Old Religion, Music by Men, and And Love

I will admit that I cheated a tiiiny little bit by looking over my monthly playlists from the last year, because I have a bad memory, haha

I know there's going to be a lot of Kesha on there because I loved Gag Order so much. I'm betting "Peace & Quiet," "Eat the Acid" and/or "The Drama" could all land in the top 5. (I actually won't be surprised if most of my top ten is Gag Order, haha.)

But there are a handful of others that are contenders, too. I listened to a lot of Sour by Olivia Rodrigo as well, so I wouldn't be surprised to see "All-American Bitch" or "Get Him Back!" ranking high.

New Kesha omg!!!! I didnt even realise songs had dropped!!! What do you think of fine line and eat the acid?

Me either!! I got lucky and caught it on Spotify. I am SO STOKED. I love Kesha so much, she's truly a very underrated artist and I don't think she gets nearly enough credit for her voice or her songwriting.

I love love love Eat the Acid! The repetition of "you don't wanna be changed like it changed me" and the spirituality of the rest of the lyrics, and the way the song kind of drones but also builds - I'm really into it. I also think it's interesting the song is called "Eat the Acid" and not "Don't Eat the Acid" lol, since ostensibly she's being like "this was a harrowing experience of growth and I don't recommend it." But at the same time, she's clearly embracing the darkness and the ugliness and the pain, and knows the change is for the better.

Given everything Kesha has been through, I think she's well overdue for more introspective, darker themes. I love that Rainbow and High Road were ultimately about overcoming sadness and finding the brighter side of life, but I'm also very glad she's getting the chance to unpack some of that trauma and not be beholden to a "let's make rainbows out of rain" kind of mentality.

I like "Fine Line" for a lot of the same reasons. The production reminds me more of what Kesha has done previously, especially on her last two albums - kind of a stripped down ballad sound that I think works really well for her voice.

In short - I'm unbelievably excited for Gag Order and so glad we've got new Kesha coming soon. <3
