i have never, in my life, ever been moved like this by a show. i have never cried like this over a show. but that’s because this really is more than a show. this was reality for the thousands, millions of queer folk who came before us. it reminds us: we should always remember to celebrate those that made it possible for us simply to be able to exist and live and love freely. to be.

i honestly couldn’t think of many better ways to pay homage to those queer lives, especially the ones lost, who fought bravely even in the face of death than telling their stories like this; exactly as they were. intricate, raw and real. giving another voice to all that love. the fight might not be over yet, but their contributions have left a lasting impact on this world. telling these stories isn’t just necessary, it’s crucial.

i can’t thank the writers, actors and absolutely everyone else involved in creating fellow travelers enough for bringing this vital, beautiful, poignant, devastating and endlessly meaningful, impactful, important story to life. thank you thank you thank you

I am probably reading way too much into this, but can we talk about how Kimberly literally looks more like she should be Tim’s kid, rather than either Hawk’s or Lucy‘s? 

Like with Jackson, he looks pretty solid like a mix of the two of them, but you look at Kimberly and she kinda has Tim’s face shape, dark hair and her eyes. Like Hawk and Lucy’s eyes are both blue and so are Jackson’s…

Kimberly’s are brown. You know who else’s eyes are brown? Tim Laughlin. Like, what happened, there? Like, did Tim get Hawk pregnant or something in 1957??? 👀

tim: look, can we just shelve this for now? it’s my wedding day. if you were getting married, i would never do anything to upset you!

I think the moment Lucy realized hers and Hawk's marriage was over was upon seeing Hawk's things in the hospital.

Hawk was oblivious to her health leading up to Jackson's premature birth. That was significantly more dangerous for mothers and children in the 50's than it is now (not that her pregnancy and Skippy's battle with AIDS are even remotely the same).

I think seeing that her husband has been sleeping in Skippy's hospital room for days to be there for Tim 24/7 made Lucy realize that Hawk had never shown her that devotion in 30 years.

It likely would've made her understand that Hawk staying has always been about more than just Skippy needing help while his sister was gone. If it was solely that, Hawk wouldn't be sleeping at Skippy's bedside because Tim has full-time care while in-patient.

Lucy came to visit Tim at the hospital to see how much Skippy meant to Hawk, in the hopes she'd find their connection was very one-sided from Skippy's end. That way, Lucy could hold out hope to keep hers and Hawk's farce of a marriage together because it's all she's known.

Seeing just how well Skippy knows Hawk despite their decades apart, and the proof that Hawk is dedicated to Tim beyond what he agreed to do on this trip (at least what Hawk claimed his aims for it were), told her she had vastly underestimated Hawk's feelings for Skippy.

She surely discovered in that moment that burning Tim's letter to Hawk 30 years ago was futile. The sentiments in them were already reciprocated between Skippy and Hawk, even if her husband refused to say it.

She could lie to herself no longer. She could undeniably see that they're in love. It's love and desire. Feelings that she'd never experienced in return from Hawk.

There's no saving hers and Hawk's marriage because she'll never come close to matching the place Skippy holds in Hawk's heart. And more over, she shouldn't force herself to. She shouldn't want to.

Because she deserves someone who loves and wants her the way she deserves... The way Hawk loves Skippy.

ppl giving grace to hawk bc being a gay man in the 50s is hard but not granting that same grace to lucy being a woman in the 50s is a bit 🤥 jerome and marcus's convo paralleled with lucy and kimberly's convo about generational differences and living in your truth was so well done i could scream.

I don't understand the people who say the show should end with Hawk returning to Lucy and his life as it was once Tim passes. How would that be a satisfying ending for anyone? That life is a lie and both Hawk and Lucy admitted that in episode 7. What would be the point of the show if after everything Hawk returns to the lie? And why would you want Lucy to take him back? There's no reason for either one of them to continue pretending. And I genuinely don't see either one of them wanting to do so. There is no going back. And I don't know why anyone would want them to do that.
