Mount Andronus

Darkness was shattered all over the sky, nothing to see than all the small lights beaming down on earth from afar, the stars where shiny, so small yet so big. down on earth’s surface, Andrea and her brother Ludvik where currently restless after being up all night packing for an upcoming field trip to Mount Everest.

They where going though lists after lists while their eyelids where becoming nothing but heavier by the seconds. Coats, fleece and a ton of thick fabrics where thrown trough the room as well on the floor. Every drawer, closet and old storages where thrown open. They where desperate to find warm findings to wear since the mountain was far from warm.

The idea of such an expedition was brought up by an old newspaper, they found it in an old abandoned house they often studied in. They where at the old house a few days ago when they found the greasy old piece of paper that they where pretty interested in. The newspaper where an article about how missing people where reported, nothing really made sense since the mountain wasn’t far from the village Wiknam.

Wiknam is a small village with wood-like houses. They had small shops and a lot of tourists where visiting there constantly. When Andrea and her brother Ludvik was reading this they found it pretty interesting and horrific. What made them question themselves was why the missing people where never found. How could this be? They do have rescue teams up in the lower sides of the mountain, but how come they never find the bodies of people who has been there over years.

Not only would this expedition be horrifying but also heroic at the same time, if they found the missing people maybe they would get in the local newspaper or

maybe even on the television! Andrea also wanted to add the story to her college ressume, she thought about how good of a grade she could get and maybe her professors could finally write her recommendations to her dream school.

They where pretty excited but they both had a trembling feeling building up in their chests.

After some time they where finally done packing all of their stuff. They where going over the final list before grabbing the phone to give Hermine a call. Hermine was their good friend. They specifically wanted Hermine to join because she was used to going on hikes in cold mountains with terrible elevation. Hermine wanted nothing more than to join the siblings on this trip.

While the weather outside was pretty chilled the fresh weather was blowing away the rests of the falling leafs of autumn. Still dark outside Andrea went to check on their car which hadn’t been used in a while. The car still had some gas in it to the best choice was refilling it when they where on the road.

The road was covered with darkness, Andrea and Ludvik where currently driving to the infamous village Wiknam with Hermine in the backseat waiting patiently for arrival. They all discussed different topics like why is foot gel a thing? And other weird stuff.

As it became lighter outside the car window you could finally see the little village from afar. It look precisely fifteen minutes for them to arrive. When arriving they got welcomed by a few fellows who has been living there for a while. The trio where now settled down in one of the rooms inside a little cabin. Andrea was reading a book about the supernatural world which she found weird since it doesn’t exist, at least that is what she has heard.

Hermine wasn’t the one to get easily angered, but when Ludvik was pacing down the hallway trying to find his favorite jacket for almost an hour it clicked in Hermine head. when Hermine and Ludvik where arguing, Andrea was trying to find her scarf which she found quite easily. She went back to the hallway trying to break apart to angry nags telling them they had to get ready for their today’s expedition.

They where planning on exploring the mountain, and to achieve their reason for coming. Which specifically is to find the missing people. They brought large jackets and some oxygen which Hermine gladly learned them how to use it in extreme Weathers.

The packing had finally came to an end when they got their buts out of the exit. They took a small Uber to the starting point where the expedition will begin. When they arrived they wasted no time and began to climb their way up the East mountain side. They where practically pacing and huffing they way upwards.

It took them 4 agonizing hours to get to their first stop. Since the day was coming into an end they’re where setting up the tent where they had their luggage and equipment. They ate food which tasted like rubbish and went to sleep.

The next morning they where heading up the west side, which had a small staircase which would lead them to their next stop. While their where climbing the old staircase which was covered with an icy terrain. Andrea soon noticed a little opening in the mountain wall. She tried calling out to her comrades but when her callings finally reached their ears, she slowly fell into the small opening.

Hermine and Ludvik was horrified. Quickly they ran down where the opening was, but they where too late. The opening was now filled in with small icy rocks, blocking their way inside. Hermine started to think, to think about a way to save Andrea. Ludvik was honestly regretting this whole expedition. Why, why would we

even considers ourselves as someone as brave to find the missing people? To finally become famous? To achieve a heroic act? He thought all of it was stupid. He wanted to go home and live his life in peace. While he was still thinking, Hermine heard a small groan. She thought she was imagining things but when she heard footsteps behind her she quickly panicked.

Ludvik was also hearing these weird footsteps, they where coming closer by the seconds. Hermine and Ludvik stood together, trying not to panic. As it seemed, the thing was not human. While standing there looking down at a white hairy figure. Hermine and Ludvik soon realized that they where not gonna get away that easily.

The white furry giant where now speed walking towards them trying to get them. The thing wasn’t anything that they has seen. Hermine knew what it was, at last it was a Jeti, yes a freaking jeti! While trying to outrun the monster they came onto a cliff. This was their last chance.

As the monster was running towards Hermine she quickly flung herself to her left, as the monster was trying to grip her it slide towards the cliff end. It was now holding on to dear life trying not to fall down the high mountain. Ludvik brought his hand into his pocket, revealing his little pocket knife that he got from Andrea on his 16th birthday.

He went and cut the monsters fingers off, one by one until it had nothing more to hold on with, it fell down, all the way down. Hermine and Ludvik where now safe, at least for now. They quickly went back to the opening which was still covered in rocks. Hermine started to kick at the rocks.

Ludvik was soon following Hermine in the kicking motion, together they had kicked away all the remains of the rocks. Now the opening was now fully big enough for them to creep in. They went one by one inside the cave. Crawling their way inside

the long hallway. They both fell down a little slide, which ended up in Hermine getting her foot hurt. While Ludvik was helping Hermine they heard screaming from the dark hallway. They tried to run when they realized the screaming was owned by their comrade Andrea.

When they got to her she was lying on the floor while a redlike mist where flowing over her. She was breathing in this weirdly looking gas. When her screams finally ended she quickly lost consciousness. Hermine tried walking over to her, but before she could, Ludvik stopped her. He was telling her that it might be poisones.

Ludvik’s sight quickly shifted from Hermine to Andrea, which was now shivering and twitching. She soon started to levitate from the floor. Her eyes started to glow and they soon looked at her confused and horrified. Her body was now starting to change into something terrifying. Her arms got longer. Her lower body wasn’t there anymore but rather switched with a long worm like tail. She looked nothing like herself anymore.

Ludvik and Hermine was in utter shock. while they where standing there, Andrea was crawling on the floor, fully deformed from her old self. As she finally took notice in Ludvik and Hermine she started to crawl slowly towards them.

Ludvik and Hermine didn’t even dare to move a single muscle in their body. They where just standing there, watching as Andrea where closing inn slowly.

When Andrea was just about to reach them, Hermine finally had the guts to get her rifle out of Andreas old bag which was actually thrown besides them. When she went to shoot Andrea Ludvik stopped her. Hermine was scared to death and tried to break free from Ludvik grasp. She was sad, angry and confused at the same time.

While Hermine and Ludvik was making a big mess, Andrea was starting to growl loudly. Both of Ludvik and Hermine attention was fully directed on Andreas

movement. Without any warning, Andrea charged at her friends. Hermine and Ludvik managed to avoid her attacks. They both screamed and started running to find any exit they could possible find. They heard Andrea crawling in a fast speed behind them. After maybe about an hour they came across an old cellphone. They tried calling the police but they knew it was a Sunday. So the police department wasn’t open.

Hermine grabbed the phone trying to call her friend Thea. But got no answer. From a cross the cave walls they headed the wild monster know as Andrea. They left the phone and barged towards the opposite side of the wild Andrea.

They finally could see some light appearing in the distance. When they reached the light they had finally came outside the mountain, the wind was harsh and cold. They where so worried that Andrea would catch up to them so they ran down the icy staircases, trying to escape the awful dreads that Andrea could do to them.

When they reached the end of the staircase, it was so slippery that ludvik fell down the mountain side with Hermine. Luckily they both landed on soft snow, so they would only get some minor injures. When the finally came to their senses they heard something in the distance.

They slowly got up and turned their heads backwards. Andrea was there, she had actually kept up with them. They let out a loud scream they tried running again but it was pointless. When they tried running they both fell down. They where both injured. Hermine started crying, begging for mercy. Ludvik was quiet. Knowing that they would die soon he was thinking about how this could all be avoided if they just didn’t go on this stupid expedition.

As Andrea was about to attack, someone ran infront of them blocking her attacks. The person seemed to be a tall man who had a crazy frizzy beard. The man was

throwing things like axes and small sword at the creature. As the creature was not on the ground growling out of pain. The man turned to Hermine and Ludvik. He had this crazy look at his face. As he was about to help them up, Andrea came from behind him and she bit his neck, following by flinging it of his entire body. T

His body soon fell to the floor while she started eating his insides.

Hermine and ludvik knew they had to run. Hermine soon notices a small letter in his jacket. As Andrea was now enjoying her bloody meal, Hermine took this as her advantage and took the little piece of paper. Maybe it was important, maybe if could even help them defeat this awful monster that was once their friend and sibling.

As Hermine theory was right, the letter involved something about toxic gasses that could turn human into deformed monsters like Andrea. The cure was awfully weird. It included milk from a cow and some grass. When they read it again they finally shoot up from the ground and ran down the mountain. They knew Andrea would take her time with the man but they didn’t want to waste their opportunity.

As they ran they finally saw the village. The sprinted down trying not to fall. When they reached the town they went to search for the ingredients for the cure, as they did they heard roars from the distance. The people of Wiknam where really confused. Some where frightened, but everything when wrong when Andre reached the village.

She started to basically terrorize the whole village by eating everyone, including children. As Ludvik and Hermine had gathered the first ingredient, Andrea came closer to Hermine. Andrea bit Hermine arm of her body, while Hermine was screaming in agony.

As Andrea was about to Finnish Hermine off Ludvik came in and threw the cure into Andreas mouth, he took a hold of Hermine and dragged her away from the

screaming creature. As Ludvik was trying to stop the bleeding p, Andrea was finally turning back to her normal self. Hermine was bleeding harsh. There was no way that she could make it, not in the slightest. As Andrea awoke from her slumber the quickly turned her attention to a dying Hermine. Andrea started tearing up as she was hella confused.

She used both of her legs to crawl to her brother and Hermine. Andrea asked her brother what had happened. And Ludvik quickly gave her an answer. As the there fo them where sitting on the snowy ground while the village was set on fire, they where quiet trying to keep Hermine warm. Andrea had shared her jacket with her and trying to stop the bleeding. There was no use, and they all knew that.

as Hermine was soon closing her eyes, Andrea wished that she never encouraged her brother to partake in this expedition. She was apologizing again after again to Hermine, but it was too late. Hermine was already gone. She had disappeared to gods know what. And the sibling just sat there, not knowing what to do. The evening was coming fast, and darkness was a all they could see.

Ludvik – with the rehearsals, the performances – was our hope. We could not let it die. The transports carried away children to die – new children took the empty places but Ludvik stayed and the children found strength and courage playing their parts in it. I know a game. I’ll bet that lady with the little girl over there will turn around. Or maybe that gentleman… I hum a motif from Ludvik, and no matter where they are, they hear it. That would not work with anyone else. You can try it anywhere in the world, just hum a motif from out opera, and you will find them. they are sure to come – the few who remember Terezin.
