🌻Lammas Blessings🌻
Celebrate the union of Sun and Earth, of God and Goddess, and the first harvest at Lammas - Lughnassadh.
Lammas, 'loaf mass', is the celebration of the First Harvest of Grain, giving thanks for abundance and honours the first loaf of the festival.
Lugh, the Celtic Sun god, is also honoured at this time with fairs, circle dancing, bonfires and gatherings, knowing that the energy of the Sun is beginning to wane. The Goddess, in her guise as Grain Mother, represents the promise of future harvests. May your Lammas be filled with amazing abundance and a wealth of wonders. Sending blessings to you and your loved ones. 💙💙

Today I went for a walk down into the valley, ostensibly to collect my car which I'd left there yesterday evening, but on the way I saw a tree
Some cows
And I met a horse
Who was delighted to get some ear tickles
All of which reminded me of the wonderful nature of this planet and made me feel full of Lughnassadh Blessings! 💜🙏

Lughnassadh Magical Herbal Sachet DIY
🌿 Basil : Love, exorcism, wealth, flying, protection.
🌿 Mint: Money, lust, healing, travel, exorcism, protection.
🌿 Rosemary: Healing, protection, love, lust, retaining youth, combating jealousy, strengthening mental clarity and focus.
This year I kind of did things last minute for Lammas. I harvested these herbs from my garden and dried them in my oven. (80C for 30min).
I didn’t even have a pouch to put the herbs in, so I DIY one using an old sweater with a porous material.
💚 Green is associated with money and wealth.
Lughnassadh is a celebration of abundance, and that is what I hope to attract to my home (placed it on my doorknob).
Merry Lughnassadh, Witches! 🥰
I made a blackberry pie (which I pretty much do every Lughnassadh 😋) and I harvested a cucumber from my grandma's garden that I helped plant 😃
The cucumber was... bitter 😅😂 but the very center was tasty and not bitter, so at least not all of it was gross 😂
Do you guys celebrate the holidays without being Wiccan like I do? I just like celebrating them for some reason 😊 let me know what you do, if anything, on the holidays! ☺
Happy Lughnassadh
Lughnassadh or Lammas is the first of three harvest festivals. Traditionally, it is the time to bake bread and celebrate the first grain harvest, but this year we chose to experiment with apples.
Apple Pie and Ice Cream Cake
This cake was inspired by my son’s request for apple pie for his birthday. And while I did bake a pie, the cake won the day.
For the cake:
Boxed spice cake mix, but separate the eggs and whip the whites. Gently fold in and divide into two 9 inch round cake tins. Cool completey and tort cakes into 4 layers. (Only three used in this version).
For the “ice cream” filling:
Whip 8 oz heavy whipping cream with 1 Tablespoon vanilla bean paste and 1/4 cup powdered sugar until peaks form. Then whip in 8oz mascarpone and a tsp of vanilla extract.
For the apple pie filling:
Peel, core, and dice a variety of apples (pink lady, honey crisp, Granny Smith). Toss in pot over medium heat with 1 tablespoon butter, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cardamom, 1/8 tsp clove. Stir until softened then add dark brown sugar to taste (about 3 tablespoons) and allow to carmelize. If mixture is two watery, sprinkle in cornstarch to thicken.
Recipe here for fluffy brown sugar icing.
Assemble layers, ice, and add apple chips for decoration.
