So a round from my brain cause I love music, are there any songs that instantly remind you of your OCs?

Yes!!!!! I've wanted to do one of those "one song per oc" type deals but I don't have one for everyone yet (and it doesn't feel right to do one without everyone named), so this is the perfect excuse to share what I do have! XD

Ceicive: Broken Machine (Nothing but thieves) and Love Like You (from Steven Universe)

Ceicive and Wilvous together: Fallin' For You (Colbie Caillat) early on, and Still The One (Orleans) later down the line <3

Toka: Pay Me My Money Down (Bruce Springsteen)

Captain Vasilios gets two: World (5 for Fighting) and A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall (Bob Dylan) (feels kinda weird to give her that given as she's very much neither, but I really like the poetic aspects of the lyrics)

D'Hrava and T'Pril together: Isn’t It Love? (from the Steven Universe movie), We are in Love (Shannon Hurley), and The Warrior (Patty Smyth)

Kirev and the Denobulan Bartender lady get Brandy (Looking Glass) because that was kind of their inspiration a little bit tbh XD (theirs is definitely healthier given communication and species cultures, but still worth a mention XD)

Aerelai gives me such strong Sam Smith song vibes in general, I think most especially I'm Not Here to Make Friends and Diamonds, and I'd also have to say Escapism (Raye)

Omg Aerelai would absolutely love musicals (and sometimes make it everyone's problem that they do). I could see them really liking the energy and outfits of Chicago! I've got to think doctor D'Hrava would like some too, maybe Les Misérables for its discussions of honor, bravery, tragedy, and rebellion.

Wilvous likes the stage production and how the music can convey narrative, but I don't know that he'd have one true favorite. He'd probably like debating the meaning of certain musical scores and costume/set choices and their impact on the piece as well.

The Bad Luck Vulcan finds Little Shop of Horrors more fascinating than he'd maybe care to admit outright.

Lukoroh would like them too for reasons I'll talk about in just a minute.

Yes I think they do! It's time for SPECULATIVE WORLDBUILDING! (aka shit I just made up!)

The Calico Pilot maybe has a soft spot for call and response type songs because it's something he would do with her siblings growing up when they were out walking or when they were doing chores/helping in the shop.

The Lion Therapist would like deeper Didgeridoo type instrument

Lukoroh: Ok so I think he'd like stuff like musicals, ballads, operas, anything that tells a story! He'd have to relisten sooooo many times just to get a little of the narrative, but I don't think that bothers him, it's sort of how he feels about art!

V'eiss: I think he'd like more traditional Vulcan lyre music, it's something his adoptive father played a lot, and his grandmother would sometimes too. I don't think of him as ever really having learnt but a handful of melodies he could play sort of ok-ish himself, but he deeply respects the art form as a whole and thinks it's very beautiful.

Another round!!! :D (loool valid and mood tbh XD I think the catian pilot one is a repeat since I've talked about their sensory toys, so I'll pick out someone to fill her slot, but I'm going to put it at the end to give me time to pick XD)

She likes a kind of worm that's sort of like a bone collector caterpillar (though these actually just have small protrusions to serve as camouflage mimicry rather than collecting spider leavings) fried up in oils secreted by another kind of bug and served crispy!

BLV: What's a secret passion of theirs?

So not fully secret as keeping secrets fully would be illogical in his opinion, but he is kind of passionate about making lectures about the different plants he encounters on other planets or has responsibility of in the hydroponics bay. He's amassed a very large amount of them and would like to submit them to Starfleet to become lessons or at least upload them to an educational database of some kind.

He insists he's going to upload them once he's "refined the format" though he's been working on it for years at this point. Maybe someday someone can give him enough of a push to go through with it, but it hasn't happened yet </3

Lukoroh: Do they have a best friend? If so who is it?:

Thus far at least I think I'd have to say the Arachnid Xenoanthropologist! I think she'd be the one on the xenoanthropology team who he works with the most and the most closely, and she has a good mix of patience, cheerfulness, and kinda chill neutrality that lets her mesh well with him, and he thinks of her as brilliant, skillful, and kind!

They're kind of a strength and brains team combo, though Lukoroh absolutely has his share of insights and discoveries to contribute, and the XA has pretty strong venom she just chooses not to use most of the time.

So maybe a bit odd, but I think he'd just absolutely love sort of Sailor's valentines style seashell art and art made with dried flowers! That and maybe subtle seashell jewelry Idk why, it just kind of seems like his vibe!

Honestly he really doesn't try to impress people that much in general, he really prefers to just let people be surprised if they're going to underestimate him, but he will mess with them if they're being an asshole to him and let them walk themself into a corner in how they behave before turning it around on them XD

Ch'ayna🍯 honey citrus mint tea – how do they take care of themselves (or others) when sick?: So when she's sick she has to stay pretty carefully quarantined because her biology reacts to illness by making a super sticky kinda poisonous goop that gets everything stuck to everything XD

She gets really lethargic (her species really is pretty weak physically, just fast, smart, and poisonous) and just tries to sleep as much as possible.

When it comes to other people she's not really much of a doctor honestly, but she'll try to encourage people to rest, and if she's really worried about them she'll make little woven silk patches of healing symbols from her culture (there are different kinds for different maladies, and honestly the process is a little interpretive anyways, but they're meant to sort of "absorb" whatever the problem is into themselves and then be burnt to dispel them). They can be sewn onto a blanket or overhead garland, or in the case of a more extreme or long illness each of the illnesses connected in sort of a granny squares type layout.

I'm not sure how much she would believe it versus just kind of doing it out of tradition and concern, but she's definitely done it before <3

R'aahs 🔥 spicy lemonade – what makes them snap or lose their temper?:

Alright so that's honestly a bit of a difficult question because there's a lot of things that can make him sort of snap to a degree that would be pretty high caliber by human standards, but within Nausicaan standards that reaction would be a completely normal mild to moderate annoyance response given cultural factors and tissue regeneration, but for what would actually get to him:

Calling him weak (like he can handle when someone just is stronger than him, losing in a struggle is a part of life, but not being seen as worth the effort of challenge is an insult given as he's not a young child, and will balk at attempts to treat him like one)

Someone hurting or trying to hurt the people that he cares about, but especially if it's someone lower than him on his hierarchy that he's protective over. That's basically the most effective way to bait him into an outright attack (which can be effective tactically, but comes with the risk of a Nausicaan who now wants you very dead)

After he finds out the truth about his siblings, mentioning them at all will make him furious to the point of (sometimes tearful) shutdown. Most of the time he'll try and just circumvent it by claiming not to have siblings, or claim that they died and refuse to talk about it further, but even that always clearly rattles him.

And even though it's a smaller thing and doesn't come up often, someone commenting on the steam burn scars on his hands. They're so very many years of suffering distilled into patches of scar tissue, a constant reminder of survival, desperation, loss, terror, and, most of all, pain. He's certainly very happy to be gifted the gloves.

Yes! Little souvenirs from the various museums he's visited over the course of his work! Some have to do with exhibits he's helped to contribute to, some are based off of completely unrelated exhibits, and some are really just little toys with no connection to much of anything they were just in the gift shop XD

Oh I actually love this one!!! :D <3

He likes these little popsicle treats that are made from frozen blood (kind of like what lions in zoos are given as enrichment and to cool off in the summer! <3)

The one's he likes are 1. usually replicated, 2. much smaller, and 3. either actual popsicles or little cubes.

And back to our asking roots with Ceicive and Wilvous cause I love them.: What's something they do absentmindedly that their partner (if they have one) finds adorable:

Ceicive:

So a lot of what he does is at least moderately intentional, but he does have a few unconscious behaviors!

When they're close to each other (lying down or sitting closely) Ceicive will coil up closer to Wilvous to bask in the heat he puts off

The way he perch-style sits on desks or couch arms and the like

and the way that, instead of laughing outright, he'll sort of double over shaking and twitching, sometimes covering his mouth reflexively like sound's going to come out. It freaked Wilvous out the first time he saw him do it, but once he realized what a genuine reaction of mirth it is he loves it <3

Wilvous

He makes little snort-grunts when he's deeply focused on a project in engineering or painting

The fact that he'll absentmindedly put anything into his pockets. They have to keep a little basket next to their fabric recycler for whatever stray tools/PADDS/art stuff/misc bits fall out when they're turned out

When they're cuddling on the couch he flops (honestly pretty forcefully) against Ceicive in relaxation (especially if he falls asleep like that and becomes a big loud blanket XD <3)

(Long, so it's going under the cut):

Currently unnamed Vorta:

If they were in a book how would they be described by others/ the narrator? [I tried I swear, I tend to think in bullet points XD] :

Physically: Pale with dark, slightly curly hair and violet eyes that have a slight glow (pretty standard for a Vorta), though they're very obviously frailer, with a tendency to tremors out of a combined anxiety and muscle weakness, being unable to walk very far without support of some kind.

Behaviorally: Typically nervous and fidgety, always seeming to be listening out for some sudden change in the environment. He's a fastidious worker, preferring to remain fully entrenched in his tasks until completion, though when someone approaches him he sharply tightens and becomes almost obsequious in his attentiveness, trying to show no fear and become as plainly cooperative as is possible.

When he's excited it's typically either almost impossible to notice or impossible to miss; freezing up to keep the moment as long as possible or unintentionally letting out a burst of telepathy/telekinetic energy in pure exuberance.

What's something they will never fail to get excited over?:

Games.

Board games, card games, table games, anything he just absolutely loves them!!! For highly strategic games of concealment they have to consciously try to think of misinformation in regards to their cards or moves to avoid sporadic telepathic broadcasts because getting to play is just that exciting. (He does prefer games of chance slightly, but honestly any game is still pretty exciting!)

What's something they unashamedly adore?

Ok so he does love getting to play board games and the like, but I do think that's maybe also at least a little embarrassing because of how excited they get about them, so for this one I'm going to go with the thing that they personally see as less noticeable (it isn't), which is a blanket they got shortly after their removal from the defect research section of their creation facility and have kept ever since. (it looks a bit like this with the different textures across it)

He usually has it with him, though he tends to just sit on it if he's in uniform since the uniform's hightech fabric can thermoregulate him well enough.

(I've decided that the Vorta can have preferences in regards to textures, albeit not very strong ones, and they can find comfort in their preferred ones).

If they were in a book how would they be described by others/ the narrator?:

Physically: soft featured with a round face, warm eyes, and fluffy slanted eyebrows almost like caterpillars. Dark hair where he has it.

He's smaller than post Pakleds in height, though about double in weight, and he tends to stand a bit hunched, though more out of curiosity than modestly.

Behaviorally: Very quiet, almost offputtingly so. He seems as if he doesn't notice his surroundings beyond his immediate area of focus, though in reality he's slowly and thoroughly absorbing the stimuli around him (though it does take time for him to process everything effectively).

He speaks very simply and asks strange questions, making many people think he's inattentive or dull minded, but he understands a great deal more than is evident, especially upon first meeting him.

What's something they will never fail to get excited over?:

Going to a new planet! He could honestly go the rest of his life finding something amazing on just one every day he's alive, so to get the chance to see so many is just a breathtaking thought that I think kind of hits him each time the Xenoanthropologist group visits a site or has a conference planetside.

To approximate how I think he'd say it: "There are many. This one is big."

What's something they unashamedly adore?

I don't think he really has much shame in regards to anything he likes!

He has lots of things he enjoys even though it surprises a lot of people that he can appreciate it, like museums, complicated puzzles, the arachnid Xenoanthropologist's fabric weaving, and operas from different species.

He simply ignores or bluntly answers ignorant comments from people who don't know him well, not permitting them to disrupt his enrapturement, simply focusing deeper and shutting them out (or occasionally trolling them a little bit and asking them things he actually *does* already know XD)

He's very much an "always keep trying, but be willing to try new angles" kind of guy. Like it would take something major to make him fully give up, but he won't completely keep bashing his head against the wall either.

Less than they need most of the time if they have to ask someone in authority for it, but they're honestly weirdly fine asking T'Pril despite her being their most direct superior because she'll almost always find their requests to be logical and reasonable.

Ok bc Aerelai is extra as fuck, but in a way that can't be denied is gorgeous, I could see them doing a sort of medley type deal with like a sort of minimal base almost like this:

But then bedecking it and themself with jewelry from all across different cultures and periods of time. They'd know about each of the facets they picked of course, but basically they're taking this as an opportunity to do art.

Doctor D'Hrava I could see rocking either a suit of armor medieval Europe style with intricate designs (that are actually Klingon in nature) or a gladiator's gold with some imposing spikes!

Bhea would either do a greaser look with a (thankfully nonfunctional, lightweighted) hollographic motorcycle projection, or do a captain proton look and argue that it counts since it was an Earth classic

Muna would maybe do something from Earth's 1950s too, maybe something very glowingly happy like this:

She'd maybe be convinced to deck out her chair like a sidecar and have the holographic motorcycle follow it around to preserve the illusion.

The B/C engineer would do a sort of 1930s mafia suit and get R'aahs to dress up with them since they're friends. The BCE might do sort of the knockoff Godfather Capone look with R'aahs as their pinstripe suited brutal enforcer. He's not too clear on the history as a whole but has actually done the "stand behind me and look intimidating" thing enough to get the vibe XD

Ceicive I could see either a plague doctor outfit or a men's renaissance Tudor outfit bc it's fancy and high collared and he'd be adorable

Professor Ch'ayna I could see doing something that evokes Chinese shadow puppetry, maybe kind of giving herself a sort of canvas dome around her body that she can see out of but can't be seen into and having a small puppet she can make move

Lukoroh, doing his best, would probably wear an Enterprise era blue jumpsuit type uniform. He'd choose it because it honestly means so much to him to be aligned with Starfleet and working along one of their teams the way he is and that's not something he'd want to give up even in facade, plus it ties into them both being firsts for their people in their own ways and it's really very meaningful. It still just kind of makes him look like he's some guy due for a uniform update moreso than one going to a costume party.

Just for fun, I could see captain Vasilios putting in a very brief appearance (she doesn't like parties) in an outfit like one of the mathematicians that were so integral to NASA's successful moon landing wore as a nod back to the Federations very very first beginings

And because he'll do damn near anything to support his friend, Kirev would accompany her for however long she stayed for and he's getting medical European monk's robes mostly just as a bit of an Easter egg because Kirev is very Derek Jacobi to me XD <3

Getting a brief recap explanation or a simple plan to follow from step to step in solving the problem, even if it doesn't fix the actual issue just getting a bit more context or a plan is really helpful.

I think that's honestly a big thing that makes him like Ch'ayna and Ceicive, they're always willing to rexplain or go through things in steps

(also I could see that being something he tries to do with people when they're clearly stressed, which may not be as helpful on the level it is to him, but it's still very clearly an attempt to help which isn't nothing <3)

I don't think it's something that comes up often, but he really can actually bake and sew very well! It's something rooted from her childhood so not exactly a typical conversation point bc it's very personal, but buckle in for a lecture if they start talking about either XD

Ch'ayna: 🍓 pink refresha – what’s something refreshing/new in their life?

So it's within a few years but I'm counting it: Travelling so much! Prior to working as one of Starfleet's academics she did most of her writing and examinations from her own planet through virtual meetings and Hollodeck recreations (her species has had warp technology for years but they're really only now venturing out into the quadrant at all, like they developed the tech mathematically long before they had much knowledge of their region of space just because they had no interest in it until a handful of eccentrics opted to do it practically for whatever reason).

She's the first person from her family to leave the planet, and it's really mostly only her generation that's done it at all save for a few outliers! She's never been away from her family like this even on the planet (given as intergenerational living is the common practice barring a few trades)

When her children are old enough to come and live with her it's going to be a very strange experience having them there without any other members of her family present (children typically live pretty much exclusively with one side of the family after the eggs are laid)
