Reading through Brandon Sanderson’s Cytoverse an so far it seems that the best way to gauge the danger of a situation is to look at how much of an existential crisis M-Bot is going through.
He’s complaining about how many orifices and secretions humans have? We’re safe, everything is fine.
He’s asking if he truly has a soul, or even thoughts of his own? And how could he trust his own perception of his own existence? How do you know reality is even real? You are actively being shot at, spied on by cosmic horrors, and you have to disarm a bomb.
M-Bot, in the middle of a high stakes infiltration and espionage mission: Spensa, I would like to have a baby. I think I would make an excellent mothe-click-click-click
M-bot from the Cytoverse series and Nightblood from the Cosmere both very clearly come from the same part of Brandon Sanderson's brain.
And that's funny because if M-bot and Nightblood were to meet they would either become the bestest of friends and bosom-est of buddies -OR- ☝️they would absolutely HATE each other on a visceral level that they can't act upon because they are both inanimate objects and I see no chance of middle ground.
