Nobody talks enough about how important it is to have characters who are like you in media, especially in stories that aren't specifically about the mental health issues/disabilities that represent you
There was such an indescribable amount of joy when I got to that first Renarin chapter in Wind and Truth. He is me, and I am him, sure we may have differing levels of masking, but the overall principle is the same. I know for a fact that I've thought almost word for word some of the things he's saying or thinking in there.
This is lovely <3
a dear friend bought me a puzzle of the map of Roshar for my birthday and I have spent over a week doing it.
It has become one of the most enjoyable projects I've done, while also becoming the bane of my existence.
ITS JUST OCEAN. ALL THE PIECES ARE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SHADES OF BLUE. ITS KIND OF LIKE PSYCHOLOGICAL TORTURE.
this being said, the actual map part was great fun, and I've been listening to Stormlight as I do it, which has really solidified my knowledge of the different places.
Will update when it's done!

my brain rn, when the ritalin hits while I'm reading Wind and Truth: it's urging me to act… as if i were holding stormlight. me: OMG BRAIN THANKS THAT'S A GAME CHANGER
bye, htg DO ALL THE THINGS (but not all at once! must not let the Light spill uncontrolably!)
“Don’t get revenge upon the king for ordering the death of your grandparents. But do get revenge on the Parshendi for ordering the death of someone you never met”
-Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson, Chapter 44
This quote really stuck out to me reading Words of Radiance for the first time. This question definitely applies to the real world too: We know murder is wrong even for your own vengeance, so why is it considered patriotic to kill strangers for another stranger’s reasons?
brandon sanderson is great because i don't know of any other author who has written something where the phrase "tactical marriage" makes sense. no i do not mean "political advantage" tactical, i mean "battlefield strategies" tactical. yes this post is about alcatraz.
