If you are new to working out you can lose weight and gain muscle. Those are called getting "newbie gains" and that's when youbgain some muscle as you lose fat/weight because you are dieting and exercising for the first time or after a taking a long period of time off. But as someone who is seasoned, or trying to grow their legs, arms, back, whatever the case may be, you need to be eating in a calorie surplus. A calorie surplus is needed because your body needs the calories and the nutrients to fuel your muscles and give you the energy to go harder and push more weight. That's not saying you can go and eat a ton of overly processed food and not focus on nutrition and nutrients. You still need to focus on eating whole foods, fruits and veggies, protein, a mix of complex and simple carbs because depending on goals, you don't want to feel like crap in the process by eating a lot of processed junk food. π
but as long as you ate tracking your intake even in the surplus, you can still be just as flexible, you just now have more leeway with your food choices. Do not be afraid to eat food and lift heavy because that is the only way to gain the muscle and get the curves that you are looking for. You can still have physique goals as you gain muscle, you just have to make sure you are eating enough, working hard, and not getting far into your head as you gain the muscle. Trust the process and stay the course. You'll be happy with the results. . . . #trackyourintake #trackyourmacros #macrotracking #macrotrackingtips #goodmorning #morningmotivation #morningthoughts #workingmom #workhardstayhumble #workoutmotivation #empoweredfitness #gains #lifeofafemaledriver #LIFT (at Empowered Fitness) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaW_VPbOkAi/?utm_medium=tumblr
