Ive been working on this extension/ AU of Wither Into Grave Dirt (by @etheralisi ) for a while now, and it’s finally ready to post!
The basic idea is Night at the Museum.
Sometime after dipper is unearthed, he’s sent to a museum for a human origins exhibit. Seeing so many people everyday makes him want to try out interaction, but he’s too shy right now to start working again. Luckily there are some new night guards, Maeus and Cash. (who also happen to be Matthews and Card reincarnations)
Dipper starts animating the exhibits, and is found as the culprit before long. He manages to convince them not to report him, and chills out on the exhibits. He was controlling them the whole time anyway, they weren’t good company. Except the giraffe skeleton….
In Rise of the Necroprancer it’s stated that horses lack souls, and are easy to reanimate because of it. Giraffes are similar enough that it applies. So Wobbles becomes the newest resident!
Because Dipper is missing a leg, he has to find different replacements throughout the museum. He has to make sure to put them back in good condition before the museum opens though.
Some notes:
Maeus and Cash think that Dipper is a human spirit trapped in its vessel
At some point before ( or after) Dipper “died” civilization collapsed, essentially re-staring human (and others) history. So the society this takes place in is not that much more advanced than us.
Dipper is much cheerier than WIGD, but he sometimes lets it slip that he’s got stuff going on
Many of the reforming societies worshipped Alcor, but much of their history was lost. His symbols have come to mean many things, often used in governments
Thee are several artifacts and legends that catch scientist’s attention, for their depictions of a god called Alcor. The legends are found in almost every culture and species, but nothing like it has been recorded in millennia
