Episode thirty five, Old Passages. I wish I had a book that spit out bird bones when I put it in the dark
This isn't funny of me but I did it anyway.
we know that Gerry is dead since mag 12, but in mag 35 Jon says that he still can't contact him. Jonathan, how are you supposed to contact him. he's dead Jonathan. Jonathan you said it yourself.
MAG 62 “First Edition” review:
What the fuck is happening!!!!!! First MAG 61 and the fucking continuation of MAG 002, now we don’t only get a Gertrude tape but also it’s with fucking Mary Keay? Which means it’s connected to Jurgen Fucking Leitner. I don’t know what’s worse, her general creep factor of the fact that she confirmed that Leitner is boring.
And also the Keay family used to be a part of the Magnus Institute? To tell you the truth, I’ve always felt like all these statements were old. I keep forgetting that those like this one were recorded in modern years like 2008. It feels strange to think that all this stuff is so close together. Well, except for the Alexandria and the Cannibal one. But I’m getting off track.
I think because Keay wasn’t spooked 8 wasn’t spooked either. Doctors killing yoy is not a great thing, but not entirely unheard of. One of the greatest serial killers was a British doctor if i remember correctly. I’m just so curious as to what they do with the bodies. The original owner of the book in this one was using it for extortion, but that lady seemed to be actually dead.
Also what really was the book in the first place? I feel like I missed that bit. She did some wavy hand things an spoke aloud, she injected something into a lady who died, and she made a previous patient give her money or something to that effect. Nothing much interesting in the end.
And what’s this about the Keay family being gifted with the touch of the supernatural? From the sounds of it, they had something even before Keay did some shit with the Leitner books. All correct me if I’m wrong but she is the of lady in tattoos from MAG 4, right?
Actually, give me a second, I mgoing to look through the episodes and list all the statements I think are connneted to either the Keays or to Leitner.
MAG 4, MAG 17, MAG 23, MAG 35, MAG 46, MAG 49, possibly MAG 57, and now MAG 62. Some of these are a stretch, but I’m somewhat certain.(EDIT: I’m looking through my old reviews. Gerard Keay is mention in MAG 48!)(EDIT EDIT: all MAG 41 lol)
More often than not these tapes focused on the grandson, not Mary. Can’t remember his name these days. Well, either her grandson, or the man who ran off with the Bone Turner’s Tale. There’s still a lot about all of these people I can’t remember immediately, and likely to be a lot more in the future.
I’m giving this episode a 7 homicides out of 10 false ambulances. Would commit medical malpractice again.
Statement ends.
"" As an idiot teenager, I hunted Leitner’s books with the best of them, even found a few. I’d bring them home, and watch her eyes light up. But it was always the books that she was happy to see. "" - MAG 111: Family Business
Gerard Keay in MAG 35
TMA What We Know -[35]- Old Passages
pre-statement:
[none]
--STATEMENT--
-Harold Silvana??? you mean the guy Sasha was getting files on during the calliope statement???? 👀 👀 👀
-some kid breaks in to where Harold's doing a renovation job. not spooky or supernatural. kids just Do That.
-long black byed hair????????????? GERARD KEAY??????????
-GERARD asks them if they found any Leitner pages yet
-Harold knows about Leitner because he did business with Leitner before
-Jurgen Leitner is BLOND???? I don't accept that. I cannot accept that.
-Leitner hired Harold to dig a hole
-they didn't dig a hole
-Gerard starts hitting the wall with a hammer, as one does. Harold hears a scream and then takes the hammer.
-in the hole in the wall is a sealed passage
-Harold & crew go into the passage. Gerard joins them. this is where Leitner asked them to dig years ago.
-they exit into a room with another 13 doorways (the one they came through would be number 14). surely this number holds no significance whatsoever, and it's pure coincidence that the path they just walked down felt like it was crushing them, and another passage makes them feel like they might 'fall in' to it. and another is just Pure Darkness.
-center of the room has a datestone that reads "Robert Smirke, 1835. Balance and Fear"
-Robert Smirke built the British Museum
-Gerard starts running down one of the other passageways. one of Harold's coworkers runs after him. Harold follows them.
-this passage is very slippery. probably because it's covered in blood.
-Gerard found a Leitner and leaves the passage. seems to be the animal bone one.
-Harold finds a whole lot of books and also his now-dead colleague.
-police come, retrieve the body, and tell them to rebuild the wall.
post-statement:
-Sasha tried to contact everyone involved, they all deny this happened
-dead colleague is registered as having died of a heart attack
-Gerard Keay is still impossible to contact
-Leitner rented an office in the area the statement lists, records show he bought and sold 'rare and antique books'.
-Tim was very excited to hear about Robert Smirke. Tim loves architecture.
-Smirke's buildings have higher rates of paranormal sightings than other buildings. Also brought up a lot in reference to cults. and designed a lot of churches.
---SUDDEN WORM NOISES, infestation's intensifying. Jon leaves to find Martin and the fire extinguishers
-two sPoOkY delivery guys show up and drop of a package 'for the archivist'. Jon's not there (because Worms) so Martin accepts it in his place.
ok so the first time i though i was hallucinating, but in a horror/mystery podcast twice is NOT just coincidence. when the spiderweb lighter is involved at the end of mag 35 & 36 (old passages and taken ill), there's DEFINITELY the murmur of voices beneath the main audio. i pulled my sister into listening for me and she heard the same thing without being told what to look for. what is that? also the only other time a lighter has been mentioned was gerard keay's eye-design lighter and that's not super helpful info here :/
also. sorry. the-guys-who-are-probably-from-breekon-&-hope delivered THE FUCKING TABLE to the magnus institute? the one that drove graham folger insane and lead to his death by creature? i'm sure that'll be fiiiiiiineeeee. the magnus institute definitely takes non-digital photos of its employees, right? when (not if) someone gets replaced, they'll notice, right? right? ... does anyone remember when i said "if any of the main 4 guys die, whatever kills them impersonates them"? i was not EXPECTING THAT TO BE RIGHT. (technically it isn't yet, but i mean. the table's in artifact storage now, it's only a matter of time.)
