Lindethiel was accustomed to feeling hungry. It was something she had learned to live with; it was something she was proud to live with. She had conquered hunger. She was better than that.
Except when she suddenly wasn’t. Her stomach gurgled and twisted and her head swam and it was worse than it’d ever been before. Usually she could avoid this sort of gnawing starvation with a nibble of food now and then, but she’d had a few bites of a pastry just hours ago!
A few more bites wouldn’t hurt, really. And a few bites turned into a few pastries. And a few pastries turned into the pies that were always littering her cave. And in a surprisingly short period of time, she found herself in a food-free home.
And her stomach gurgled.
