Literally can we get rid o this trope where the guy wants to marry the girl so he goes and asks for the dad’s permission but the dad doesn’t approve so we get a whole movie/tv show of either the dad fighting tooth and nail to get rid of the guy or the guy either trying desperately to change the dad’s mind. 

And literally, the whole time the girl gets no say whatsoever.

The trope is tired used and quite frankly sexist.
