In 2018, I visited mihwangsa, a buddhist temple built in 749 AD in the southern tip of the Korean peninsula. I arrived during a typhoon & spent five days waking up at 4 am to the sound of a drum, linking arms with the other sleepy-eyed women to make our way down the muddy mountainside for morning prayer in the temple. As we chanted and prayed, the ringing bells resounded inside of me, the smoking incense floated me away, and the idea of home swelled to encompass this space, the remote mountainside and the new quiet of my body. On the fourth day, the skies began to clear and on the fifth, the ocean appeared, boasting a blue horizon filled with islands...the feeling, which still hasn't left me entirely, was so much bigger than happiness, somehow rounder than joy.  Everyone should get to live in a temple for a few days. . . . [images of the temple taken pretty much when I arrived and when I left because we were asked to keep electronics off during our stay. The Magicians is back on television. So I thought I would do a quick fanfic:

Quentin: I don't know what you want from me Eliot, just yesterday you said you loved me and today you cannot even talk to me.

Eliot: I... I am talking.

Quentin: Look I get it, finding out what happened to Penny sucked. It sucked knowing it could happen to you or me anytime. But I am tired of living in the past.

Eliot: I don't know, Q. I just don't know.

A sadness took over Eliot's face as he walked outside, almost afraid to have to fight yet another monster, yet another battle. Go through more Trauma. At times, he wished he could have just spent his life in that other space time when he had a family with Quentin. He thought about all the possibilities and how fucked up it was to remember everything now, hell, it didn't matter knowing it... he didn't even know if Quentin only loved him because they worked. And if he did love him, what if his martyr complex surfaced again. No. Eliot was afraid, Q was right...

Quentin: He just won't talk to me.

Margo: Give him time Q, he just wants to figure things out. Hell, he finally managed to get out of being taken over a monster body. I know it's wrong timing but insance that even the monster had the hots for you. I mean maybe it had to do with the fact that E was still in there, but damn was that sexual tension strong.

Quentin: How is this supposed to help?

Margo: It's not, I just wanna know if you and the monster fucked.

Quentin: GOSH MARGO OF COURSE WE DIDN'T. I WOULDN'T DO THAT TO ELIOT'S BODY WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION.

Margo: oh so you did want to though? That's all I wanted to know.

Quentin: I don't like you very much right now.

Katy: I wonder if he has feelings for the monster that resurfaced when he saw Eliot or vice versa. Can anyone's connection really be stronger than physical reality?

Katy looked at the Rabbit sleeping on her lap as she caressed it thinking about Penny... all the ways she really did wish there was more than physical reality.
