The Enchanted Quill

“The Enchanted Quill,” from Franz Xaver von Schönwerth’s The Turnip Princess and Other Newly Discovered Fairy Tales.

Basically, we have attempted rape in this story. It’s prevented by magical means, but we get a pretty good idea of what happens to pretty kitchen maids without any family protection and without any magically enchanted boyfriends.

Once again we see a transformation of the love interest from something undesirable into the most handsome and richest prince to be found after our protagonist proves her worth by completing her assigned task or quest.

Also, there’s a quill that makes things happen in real life if you use it to write them down.
