MONSTER FALLS WHO SAID THAT WHO SAID THAT!!!!
Ive always loved the concept, but the idea of Mabel being a mermaid confused me, so I made an even more confusing au!!
A comet crashed into a lone pine tree on a hill in gravity falls. It was a relatively small area, and some how not a lot of damage done. From the fires, a girl coughed, swatting the fire away and gagging on the smoke. From the fallen pine tree, a boy pushed his way out of the timber. A few embers had landed on his forehead. The girl laughed, saying it looked like the big dipper. Her hair shifted and the constellation appeared. They didnt even question each other, they just knew they were family.
Then stuff happens!!
It's awesome when Sonic games subtly build off each other
me when my depression depresses me: what the fuck is this
the edits of dean and john to like him always get me not because i feel dean ended up like john but because he was always terrified that he would. like dean you really are the embodiment of eldest daughter syndrome.
he starts off as following his fathers every order and doing everything he asks of him because that’s What He’s Supposed To Do. he dedicates his whole life to his fathers wishes. he does everything he can to be the man his father wants and in doing so basically does everything he can to follow in his fathers footsteps and become his father. he does his job he listens to his music he wears his jacket he drives his car. everything he does is a caricature of john winchester, cause that’s who dean is “supposed to be”.
then his dad goes missing and he spends time with just sam, who learned a long time ago that john winchester is not a man you want to be. dean feels betrayed by his father and for the first time starts to doubt him. but then they find their father again and despite deans new feelings and small acts of rebellion he falls back in line and does what he’s supposed to do because a few months of doubt isn’t going to undo a lifetime of conditioning.
then john dies and they get closer to bobby (at least on screen, they’ve been close for a long time but we don’t really see that as viewers) and for the first time dean doesn’t have to impress his father. there is no john to give him orders and no expectations to live up to. bobby is kind and loving where john was harsh and expecting. so dean eventually starts to learn how to shed the expectations of his father and live for himself and be the man he wants to be. it’s a long and slow process but it’s happening.
as he starts to realize that john is not the kind of man to idolize, and that he really wasn’t good to him and sam, he starts to see john in himself. he gets angry and snaps at ben or sam or jack and realizes he’s far too much like the father he’s starting to resent for his liking. he sees the damage his father did to him and looks at ben and claire and jack and says “how could someone ever do that to a child”. then he looks at himself and says “that cruelty is within me. i’m too much like my father for my own good. if i let myself i could do that to a child. if i let myself i’ll become just like him.”. while young dean would’ve given anything to be like his father older dean is now terrified of it. he’s terrified of hurting anyone the way his father hurt him.
dean is angry. he is always angry. as he gets older and gets more tired he gets angrier. he can’t control it. the anger is just like his fathers. his is terrified of it. he knows the ability to become his father is right there, and if he doesn’t rein it in it will overcome him.
the difference between dean and john is that dean is so much more than his anger. his is more loving than his angry. but dean and his terrible self esteem doesn’t see that. he only sees the stain of his father and the anger he left him, and it terrifies him.
thinking about how Newt told Thomas that he ‘couldn’t give up’ and how Newt wouldn’t ’let’ him, and then Thomas gave up as soon as Newt died
