AND, lmao, I reaaaallly stretched some things for the sake of the story too, things that I’d like to fix at this point. Like, I might ruin things for some people, BUT PLEASE SEE SAID HOLES LOL (AKA Y’ALL WERE WAY FORGIVING AND I APPRECIATE THAT BUT WOO LORDY): why did jen’s mom not go to the hospital with her lmao, caden probably would have taken enough time to arrive for josh to get there in time, why did jen never answer her phone when josh was calling because she knew she was in labor and NOT losing caden at that point so despite being scared about having her baby early she easily could have been in the right headspace to inform josh jdksldjskds. also why was josh in a hotel when he has a house in la lmao bUT THAT ONE IS KIND OF BESIDE THE POINT.

Anyway, as you can see lol, I’ve nitpicked quite a bit that has made me want to attempt a rewrite before. And now that I’ve got someone asking for it specifically, it’s DOUBLE the motivation. I don’t think Liam would be along with her unfortunately? But Josh would most definitely be there. It removes the whole suspense element lmao, but hey everyone knows what happens at this point, so perhaps a more realistic take is overdue.

Im someone who views pyro and engineers relationship as being familial and omfg i HATE how often people who also view their relationship that way say dumbass shit like "pyro is mentally a child! Pyro cant consent to a relationship! Pyroengie is gross/predatory!" Like Oh My God Please Shut The Fuck Up. Pyro is not "mentally a child" or in any way not capable of consenting to a relationship he is a mentally ill adult and (just like you said) the only reason you think pyroengie is "icky" or whatever is because you view mentally ill people as being functionally children or otherwise "lesser" in some way. And you need to actually acknowledge that about yourself and reevaluate it instead of just doubling down and crying over two grown ass unrelated adults getting shipped with each other. Fr you get it. As someone with schizophrenia who has similar hallucinations as pyro it pisses me off so bad. I’m also autistic and act similarly “childish” and excitable. They’re still an adult they just don’t fit into the general neurotypical behavior of an adult. They have a job and do it well enough to be a genuine asset to their team so clearly they’re not just a useless toddler. People focus so hard on the cutesy side of pyro they forget that they’re literally a soldier that welds their own weapons. Roman tries to be intimidating in work settings and i feel like that bleeds into his dynamic with Gerri? It doesn’t work, of course, but like i imagine you’re like his assistant he’s trying to push around and he thinks he has the leg up once he gets his dick into your mouth. this is exactly the situation i imagine with reader as his attorney too! i imagine a sort of ‘intro attorney’ or like, first internship after passing the baby bar, and so you technically work in corplaw for waystar royco, but roman kind of needs babysitting so logan delegates you to oversee him and sometimes keep kendall in check. which you fail at because anyone would be bad at that, because who is gonna talk down the billionaire son of the billion-dollar media conglomerate founder and ceo?

but roman’s a lot easier because he bends. you learn a little about him (which he easily allows by inviting you over repeatedly), you gain a lot of leverage. and eventually — kind of like the gerri situation, as you mentioned — you sort of fawn to his advances. he’s hot, rich, charming, and despite being unbelievably irresponsible in some aspects, he has some similar hobbies and tastes, and actually pays attention to what you like and what you think. and he flirts, but it’s hard to tell when roman’s flirting is just roman-flirting or serious, i-wanna-fuck-you-flirting.

maybe one day he just comes right out and says something. just upfront, “Are we ever gonna…? Or are you a human chastity cage? Or, is this dad trying to babytrap me? Hm,” and ironically turns his lips inward and puts his index finger there, as if genuinely considering. he’s testing you, seeing if you break when you’re played with. but you let him push you, and he does, until you’re in this with him. the two of you are sexually compatible — unexpectedly — and roman feels weirdly comfortable with you. which never happens. so, he’s not gonna give up on this.

he kinda acts like he owns you because, if this ever leaked, your career would be ruined. and his dad would be pissed, and fire you. and then where would you be? but really, not really. because i think in some case, his dad had this in mind; pairing his bachelor son who continually has sexual failings with a somewhat age-appropriate girl who seems alright, nice and pretty, and professional (although, a little unavoidably naïve to the standard protocol in cutthroat, billion-dollar business deals, but thankfully you’re not in much of a prominent position).

i also think roman’s dominant, control-y side comes out because yeah, he’s helpless at times and sometimes needs someone to actually save him (both business-wise and sexually, which are sadly both your job now), but he’s also not a fucking baby. he bites back and likes a little tug-of-war, a little play-fighting that shows he has you, and he has this, and he is — at times — a real fucking person. kind of like how he fought back him with his dad with, “I’m not a moron”, except he gains personhood through being able to use you. you wouldn’t allow just anyone to shove your face in their lap during the workday, so he’s special.

romey gets so degrading and dehumanizing. sometimes it crosses boundaries. he’s not the type to suggest a safeword and probably kind of makes fun of you when you bring it up, or tell him you’ve decided on one — but roman would try to fuck you in a public club bathroom on the clock because he brought you along as a little pet to some suck-up ass-kissing meeting, and someone would be in another stall and. you’d find a use for a safeword to say the least.

or you decide to allow him just a little treat — say he does something good, listens to you, actually improves his (and therefore your) position in the company. you suck his dick under his desk? just a quickie, he promises he’ll cum quick. but someone walks in and he tries to keep going, but fuck, you were already sputtering before they came in and so you grab him and let him know, silently, no. not this time, not right now. and he actually listens, but whines like a puppy who gnawed on your pant leg and now doesn’t get his treat.

What you may have missed is that in one of the Germany-exclusive trading card game secret lore cards you can find information about Ivan’s younger sister, the last known piece of the tree.”

I’m seeing the pattern here. In Penalteam they all rejected their miraculous for different reasons and now they’re doing it again but expanding on why each of them didn’t want it. Sabrina didn’t think she’d be a good choice because she used to be a bully, and Ivan was afraid of being aggressive because it turns out he doesn’t want to resemble his dad. Ooooh I know I've reblogged stuff on slash fiction/misogyny in fandom before but imagine me using a consistent tagging scheme. I wish!! In my dreams!! I'm happy to weigh in tho! I think we may disagree a little bit and also I'm extrapolating a bit from what you've said here just in what I remember about how these conversations manifest and the discourses they sprang from.

My stance on women and the phenomenon of slash fic (the idea that girls only want to read mlm content and whether this is a problem with real life ramifications or not) has evolved a lot over time (since I got involved in fandom in around 2010), particularly considering that during my tenure in fandom I've come out as a lesbian and then later transitioned. Pre-transition I was more understanding of/open to the idea that women's involvement in slash fiction communities sometimes resulted in the fetishization of gay men or the perpetuation of stereotypes, but I'm truthfully just not sure I've seen that borne out or that I think that the reality of that problem has ever been equal to the amount I used to see it discussed, with great concern, by women who were trying to do the right thing by gay men. I also don't think its wrong or homophobic to fetishize something. So let's start there lol

Anecdotally, the fan communities I've been involved in are largely queer anyway and getting more queer every year, which I think has reduced the overall power of this discourse. When I first got involved with fandom I did have a lot of unexamined homophobia despite believing that I supported gay people, because I grew up in a homophobic culture and hadn't interacted significantly with real life gay community because I was, and I can't stress this enough, 13 and it was 2010. A lot of my early fanfiction likely reflects my misconceptions in that regard and probably reading work by other people with similar experiences didn't give me a lot of opportunity to problematize them. I do think perhaps there is truth to the idea that fanfiction written by teenage girls perhaps doesn't accurately depict the experience of queer men. For example some of the game of telephoning that happened around how anal sex works and the focus on anal in general. That said, I've always seen a large push towards accuracy driven by exhaustive fan labor. Beyond that though, I just don't really buy that it's not possible for a woman to understand or accurately depict the reality of being a gay man or that this is a huge problem we are having in this world. I do not subscribe to that tbh

On a personal level I disagree with the way this discussion has been framed (largely, not specifically re: ur ask) because reading and writing gay fanfiction as a teen girl made me a lot more comfortable with queerness and was crucial to my own eventual coming out, finding gay community on the internet, doing lesbianism in real life, meeting gay people in real life, writing femslash, reading a large variety of work by other actual gay people both in fanfiction and in the canon, transitioning, doing gay shit in real life, etc. Which makes me as a former woman reading gay fanfiction a net win for gay people. I think my experience is honestly fairly typical, although obviously I don't think people need to be This Gay In Order to Read Slash Fic As a Woman, because before I came out (AS BABY, I WAS LIKE 13) I used to worry soooo much about if I was fetishizing gay men and if I should stop reading gay fiction because it was morally wrong. It made the whole process more difficult and was a waste of my time. I love women who read slash fiction they are some of my strongest allies and closest friends.

I know I made a post genuinely years ago on my drarry blog about how reasonable I think it is for women to be drawn to slash fiction (fantasy where you're attracted to both characters, lack of well written women in media, fantasy of romance without misogyny, latent transgenderism etc) and I still think all of that is true. That said: I really don't think women need a justification or a reason to like slash content. I think its a bummer that there aren't more femslash ships in fandom and in this beautiful world because I think its a bummer that structural misogyny exists.

I also don't necessarily agree that the way that women engage with slash fiction is comparable to how men engage with lesbian content - truthfully I wish that men engaged with lesbian content the way that women engage with content depicting queer men, but they largely just don't, because of misogyny. They sometimes do and frankly as I said I wholeheartedly support latent transgenderism. Andrea Long Chu said sissy porn made me trans and I said girl so true its been a long week pass the yaoi. That said, I also don't even think its a big deal if men think lesbian porn is hot or are fetishizing women. Why wouldn't they. Desire is not problematic, truly the anti-porn feminism that moves unchecked through these discussions annoys me to no end. The problem isn't that men like lesbian porn or lesbian content, it's misogyny and dehumanization, which is learned from Society.

It's always seemed very silly to me the way this conversation circles because it's only real result seems to be women self policing and policing each other to make sure their desire isn't harmful. Sidebar I have also seen trans men encouraging this policing and truly I can not imagine a more loser behavior. Imagine pulling the ladder up behind you like that. Explode. A million fires for trans men who genuinely buy into this fiction of victimhood. Again for as long as I've been in fandom I've watched these convos play out and they feel like distractions from the societal forces that actually drive them - homophobia writ large and the fact that women are dehumanized on a large scale and that that dehumanization is reflected in the media we consume and our imaginations. Women who read slash fiction are my closest friends and strongest allies! I would LOVE men who watch lesbian porn to be my closest friends and strongest allies!!!!! I would love men to be interested in lesbian fiction and consider women people!! What are we talking about!! It genuinely baffles me the extent to which this has been the conversation du jour for over a decade. Meanwhile in all the original Star Wars movies the total time of every line spoken by a woman that isn't Leia is 63 seconds. Instead of asking why women like content about gay men we should ask why we literally had to build dyke Lan Zhan with our own two hands. Why there aren't two mean hairy ugly butches in narrative for us to rub together. Genuinely can we get a grip!!!
