Loved the Avatar imagines! Could you do them reacting to their S/O putting their leg up while kissing? With same group of characters as before.
I love when that happens!

A/N: I get all giddy when I see that happen, especially if it's between my favorite ships. Enjoy, comment, reblog, all that good stuff.
SOKKA
Notices you putting your leg up so he does it too, mirroring you perfectly. It's not to tease you or make fun of you at all, he just thought the gesture was a cute one so he wanted to do it too. From then on he did it every time the two of you kissed each other. Even if it was in front of all of your friends, since it means they know he likes kissing you very much.
ZUKO
Chuckled when he was that your leg was still in the air when your lips parted from him. Since that's the case you must have really been caught up in that kiss. If anything he finds it very flattering that his kisses, small as that single kiss was, has that much power over you. He would never tell you not to do something that makes you happy, don't be embarrassed for it.
KORRA
Thought you were about to fall over so her arms tightened around you, leading to a deeper kiss than it was initually. Not that you minded that and melted into it easily, holding her closer too. Later you had to explain why you popped your leg up like that and that it was sign of you enjoying the kiss. Ah, well you could have just said so, she was worried for a moment.
ASAMI
Was the first one who did it, quickly followed by you and neither of you noticed until you broke the kiss. Both of you looked at each other and started laughing at how silly you must have looked. Hopefully no reporters passed by right then and took a picture. As a CEO she wasn't so lucky because the next day thay very picture was on the front page of the newspapers.
BOLIN
Picked you up and spun you around when he saw your leg popped up behind you. Being the romantic that he is he always dreamed of making someone have that reaction to his kiss. Now you made his romantic dreams come true and he couldn't be happier. However since this is him he will also occasionally tease you about it, and hope that he gets to see you do it again.
MAKO
Knew he could make you swoon easily but he didn't realize it was to that extent. A smile spread against his lips, still pressed against yours before he pulled away and pointed out the gesture. He doesn't really see himself doing the same, he's not the type but you can do that all you want. In fact it would be very helpful if you did, that way he knows his charm works.
Hiii! Idk how many characters you'll do in one request but-
Could i request some headcanons with the brothers(separate) and Kuvira on how they would try to cheer up their s/o whos been super stressed and anxious? Thanks💕
A/n:Oh yes,I can totally do this.
Genre:.fluff
Kuvira x reader, Bolin x reader, Mako x reader Cheering up their s/o (separate)
Kuvira doesn't really know how to deal with anxiety , especially coming from her s/o.
But it doesn't mean she won't try. After a hard day she's there for you.
Now she's an amazing metal bender (and back bender) ,so what she will do, is create flowers and figures that she knows you like,maybe tell you one of earth kingdom's stories while she animates it with metal.
It's so wholesome tbh,and it always brings you back into a good mood :)
Bolin is a master at cheering you up,and there's no denying.
Like if you had a particularly rough day that got you anxious or stressed,he's there. And Pabu of course.
Pabu would do some tricks to lighten your mood,and your boy would act like the host, allways bringing a smile on your lips.
If you're not in the mood for that, maybe some food in bed and childhood stories would work to.
Mako is more on the quieter side, so his way of dealing with your anxiety is cuddling in bed with you, rubbing your waist or arm ,and if you're ready to speak about what made you feel the way you do,he's there to listen.
It's okay if you just wanna stay quiet. Mako's just fine with you snuggling up in his chest and falling asleep,as long as he knows that you feel safe,it's all that matters.
You were a little nervous as you and Mako made your way to your bedroom. Tonight would be your first time having sex, and as much as your body was fueled by lust, there were still those nagging thoughts in the back of your head.
Mako was always charming and cool and collected around you. When you two met—even though you were in your element at work as Zhu Liz’s assistant—you’d been a stuttering, blushing mess, the opposite of your witty self. But, you learned that your timidity had amused him: he adored how you stared at him with twinkling, wide eyes.
As the weeks passed, your true self shown through, matching Mako’s quips and flirting… but there was still the problem that it felt like Mako had settled for you, not that he actually wanted to be with you.
Come on, he’s dated the damn Avatar and Asami Sato, two badass and gorgeous women. What does he want with me?
Listen, you loved Korra and Asami; they’d quickly became your friends too as you all fought to make the world a better place. But your accomplishments seemed minuscule compared to theirs. And you knew there weren’t any feelings between Mako and his exes anymore.
Still, the thoughts of how you couldn’t measure up to them plagued your mind as you two crossed the threshold into Mako’s room. As much as you wanted to reciprocate his passion and intensity, it was clear you weren’t enthusiastically matching his actions.
You had to remind yourself that he never gave you any reason to doubt how he felt for you, but still the thoughts progressed as he laid you down on his bed. Even if the thought that he was dating beneath him was constantly on your mind, you had to trust that he wouldn’t be with you if he didn’t want to be.
Right?
“Y/n is everything alright?” he asked, his hand pausing in the middle of undressing you as you lay on the edge of his bed.
“Yeah, of course,” you panted, but you weren’t only breathless from kissing. It was clear to him that something else was going on. Your brow wasn’t creased in pleasure, but for some other reason.
He placed a hand on your cheek, “We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do,”
You sighed, sitting up, “I know... I-I’m just nervous.”
Mako kneeled down on the floor, “I am too.”
Your jaw dropped, “You’re nervous? Why?”
He let out a small chuckle, looking down at the floor “I haven’t made the best decisions in my relationships.”
You knew exactly what he was talking about. The Krew had always joked about the disastrous love triangle. Plus, Mako had grown so much since then, and he was always a caring person anyway. You placed a finger under his chin so he would look at you, “Mako, we all make mistakes. You’re a good person. I’ve never met anyone who cares as much as you.”
He grabbed your hand with both of his, “And I care about you the most,” he brought your hand to his lips, placing a gentle kiss, his watery eyes tearing a hole in your heart, “I’m terrified of hurting you.”
You smirked, “Well, setting aside the fact that I might want it rough sometimes,” you cocked your head toward the bed behind you, and Mako smiled back at you, “I know you’d never hurt me on purpose, okay?”
He kissed your forehead, whispering “Thank you, Y/n. You always know what to say.”
Tilting your head up, you brought your lips to his, catching him in a sweet kiss. He rested his forehead against yours, thumb caressing your cheek and catching a rogue tear that had fallen from your eye.
“Tell me, why are you nervous? If it’s not because you think I’ll hurt you, what is it?”
“Oh, it’s n-nothing,” You struggled to meet his gaze, face flushing as your anxiety began to rear its ugly head.
Now it was his turn to place a hand under your chin, turning you to face him, “Y/n, you can tell me anything.”
You couldn’t resist those amber eyes that looked at you with such care. That filled up your heart and soul with such love that you needed to express it physically. You needed Mako, and you knew being open with him would only bring you two closer. And you knew this man would move mountains for you.
“I just… I feel like I’m not good enough for you. Like I pale in comparison to everything you and your friends have accomplished.”
He smirked, “Can I tell you something?”
“Well, we’re having a heart-to-heart, so now’s a good time as any,” you smiled.
“When I first saw you, I was really nervous to talk to you.”
Your eyes widened, “Really?”
“Well yeah, I’d never seen anyone as beautiful as you.”
“Me? But—”
Mako placed a finger to your lips, “No buts. You know I think you’re more gorgeous than anyone I’ve met. And when I saw how amazing you are at helping people, I knew I had to talk to you.”
He sat down next to you on the bed, putting his arm around you and pulling you into him, “And when I got to know you, I knew I had to be with you.”
A few tears slid down your face. He wiped them away and continued, “We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to tonight. But I do want you to know that you’re the one for me.”
You pulled Mako in for a kiss that started off sweet. But it quickly turned into lustful as you pressed your body into his.
Mako pulled away, smirking, “Hey, what did I just say?”
“But what if I want to?”
He placed both his hands on each cheek, pulling you in for another deep kiss.
Congrats on 1k!!! Can you do number 9 from 50 cliché promts and tropes with mako x reader? :)
MAKO + “there’s only one bed and we sleep as far away as possible from each other but wake up cuddling”
⇦ 𝘔𝘈𝘚𝘛𝘌𝘙𝘓𝘐𝘚𝘛
“Well, this is... unfortunate.”
“It’s unacceptable.” You glanced at Mako, who was visibly irritated. “First Beifong only approves one room because of ‘budget cuts,’ and now we’re expected to share a bed?”
“Relax, tough guy. I’m sure it was just a booking error. I’ll go talk to the receptionist.” You left your partner and your bag in the room with the single large bed against the wall to go downstairs and sort out the mistake. You gave the man at the desk your friendliest smile as you approached.
“Hello again,” the man said, looking up at you. “Is there a problem with the room?”
“Yes, actually. We should’ve been booked for a room with two beds but there’s only one. Could we be moved somewhere else?” You tried to sound as amicable as possible as you spoke, hoping the employee would oblige.
He flipped through the large book of records in front of him and traced his finger down a page. “Ah, yes! You reserved a double. So sorry about that—let me see what else is available.” You watched as he flipped through again, mumbling to himself. Your smile faltered a little when he frowned.
“What’s wrong?”
“It appears everything else is filled for the night. I’m terribly sorry, but there’s nothing I can do.” The man eyed you as if expecting you to blow up at him, but you just sighed and tightened your smile.
“Ah, it’s okay. We’ll figure it out. Thank you for checking, though.”
Mako was not gonna be happy.
“You’re joking,” he deadpanned, crossing his arms over his chest. You dropped down to sit on the edge of the problematic bed itself. “Are you and Beifong trying to pull a prank or something?”
You stared up at him. “Beifong? A prank? Really?”
“Okay, no,” he huffed. “But you’re kidding, right?”
“Why would I do that?”
“Because you think it’s funny to inconvenience me?”
“I don’t know what to tell you, Mako.”
“Tell me you’re joking.”
“I’m not joking.”
He groaned and threw himself in the threadbare armchair in the corner of the room. “Great, just what I needed,” he grumbled to himself.
“Hey, I’m not exactly thrilled about this either!” You rolled your eyes. “If you’re gonna freak out about it you can take the bed and I’ll just... sleep on the floor or something.”
“No, no. You take the bed and I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“How noble,” you laughed. “You’re the one who has a problem sleeping with me. Take the bed.”
“I—” His cheeks tinged a slight pink that didn’t escape your notice. “I don’t have a problem.”
“You sure seem to.”
“I shared a blanket with Bolin on the street for most of my childhood.”
“You must be getting spoiled with that detective salary if you can’t rough it for one night and share a bed with your favorite partner. Going soft?”
You grinned when he glared at you. “Why are you torturing me?”
“You’re easy to torture.” You stood up to rifle through your bag. “And it’s fun.”
“I’m requesting a partner transfer when we finish this assignment,” he muttered, making you bark out a laugh.
“You wouldn’t, you’re too attached now.” You straightened up with your arms full of toiletries and clean clothes. “I’m gonna go wash up so I can pass out. Early day tomorrow, and all. Catchin’ bad guys, kickin’ ass, takin’ names.”
“Uh-huh.” A small smile finally graced his handsome face for the first time since arriving at the inn. “I’ll be here keeping watch—y’know, for the bad guys.”
Once you’d scrubbed off the long day of travel and changed into clean, comfortable clothes you reentered the main room to see Mako studying the files for the case the two of you were working. His eyebrows were set into a furrow as he read through it and chewed at the inside of his cheek absently. You watched him for a few more moments once you settled down onto the worn but comfortable mattress. Something in the papers seemed to perplex him as he wrinkled his nose and flipped back a few pages. Suddenly, his warm orange eyes flicked up to meet yours.
“Why are you staring at me?” he asked with a small frown.
You shrugged. “Trying to figure out if that smell is the room or just you.”
His frown deepened. “Uncalled for.”
You hummed noncommitally and snuggled down between the sheets. “Go clean up so I can sleep.”
“I’m not stopping you,” he said, snapping the file shut and rising from the chair.
“I gotta keep watch, remember? Bad guys,” you murmured despite your heavy eyelids. Mako shook his head and disappeared into the bathroom. The gentle, steady sound of running water lulled you into a drifting sleep after only a few minutes.
You roused slightly when Mako returned, shuffling around the room followed by curling steam and the smell of his soap from the bathroom. You squeezed your eyes shut tighter and tried to fall back asleep until you felt him grab a pillow off the other side of the bed. Rolling onto your side you sleepily looked up at him.
“What are you doing?” you mumbled, rubbing at your eyes.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you up.” He stood next to a blanket on the floor with the pillow in his hand, dressed in a clean white shirt and loose pants. “I was just getting set up over here.”
You squinted at the pillow he held while your tired mind tripped over itself trying to catch up. “What?”
“I told you I’d sleep on the floor,” he said, gesturing to his makeshift sleeping area.
You blinked slowly at him. “Mako.”
“Yeah?”
“Get in the bed.”
“But—”
“I wasn’t asking,” you interrupted. “Come. To. Bed.”
He flushed lightly and opened and closed his mouth a couple times before looking down at his pillow he srill gripped. “I—I don’t want to make you... uncomfortable.”
“Uncomfortable?” you repeated blankly and he nodded. “I put my life in your hands every day, Mako. I trust you, probably more than I’ve ever trusted anyone. You’re not gonna make me uncomfortable. In fact, I’d be a thousand times more comfortable with you up here than on the floor.”
“Okay, okay,” he relented, finally moving back towards the bed. “You’ve made your point.”
“Good.” You closed your eyes again and yawned loudly. “The mattress is big enough we can both stay on our sides, no big deal. You need to rest well so I know you’re alert enough to save my ass tomorrow and sleeping on the floor does not reassure me.”
“I already agreed, you don’t need to keep working at me.” Mako carefully slid into the sheets, being almost calculating in how close he could stay to the edge without falling off. Even with the considerable empty space between you, you could still feel his familiar warmth seeping into your tired muscles.
“‘M a detective, can’t help it.”
“Go to sleep. You’ll have plenty of time to harass me in the morning.”
“You know you love me.”
If only you knew, he thought to himself as you slipped back into your dreamland.
The first thing you noticed upon regaining consciousness was the thumping rhythm next to your ear. The next thing you noticed was how warm you felt, despite the sheets being tangled down around your feet. You turned your head and buried your face into your pillow, inhaling deeply.
Soap. And smoke.
Hold on. You lifted your head up slowly and blinked blearily, taking in where you were as your brain whirred back to life.
Not your pillow. Mako—his chest, more specifically. Your eyes trailed down to where your bodies were pressed together in a tangle of limbs. The arm wrapped around you ended in fingers pressing into your waist. Your thigh was hiked up around his hip and his knee was slotted between your legs. You looked up at his face to see he was still sound asleep, lips parted as he breathed slowly.
You sat up all the way and his hand on your waist flopped down onto the bed. “Mako.”
He snorted and gave no other response.
“Mako,” you hissed, smacking his chest lightly. Without opening his eyes, he grabbed your hand and yanked you back down.
“Don’ hit me,” he grumbled, lips brushing your forehead as he spoke. “‘M sleepin’.”
Your face was starting to burn. “Well, wake up!”
He cracked one eye open to peer down at you and closed it again with a sniff. All at once it seemed to hit him and his eyes flew open as he shot upwards, knocking you to the side. You groaned as he launched himself out of the bed and onto his feet.
“What time is it?!” he barked.
“I don’t know!”
He whipped his head around to look at the clock on the bedside table. He made a small noise of panic and snatched it up as if getting a closer look would change the reading it gave.
“Fuck, we’re late!”
thank you for the request! i hope you enjoyed it! it ended up being way longer than i thought it would be lol. i guess i’ll tag my atla list and the people who wanted to be tagged in my full mako fic lol
They’re both silent, seated on the edge of the Republic City Arena. Mako’s brows are furrowed as he fidgets with the edge of his sleeves before readjusting his scarf. Y/N can feel his gaze fall on her as she inhales deeply, finally building up the courage to turn to him.
“About what Jinora said—”
“It’s not true—”
There’s a pause as Y/N registers what says.
It was funny, how they’d gotten into this situation. Jinora had elected to make an... offhanded comment on how Mako was enamored with Y/N and irrevocably in love with her. Along with the fact that she’d found the pining so very cute but sad.
Yeah.
Things had gotten very messy, very quickly. Y/N’s face heating up at Mako’s burnt bright red, shooing away the young girl and making several attempts to silence her before deciding that leaving would be the best option for everyone.
Now, they sat at the top of the arena, Y/N’s legs hanging off the side as she nodded slowly as said, “oh!” An awkward smile on her face as she averts her eyes from his own. “Great.”
Had Y/N been ready to take this as an opportunity to confess? Yes. Did it end well? No. Was she now prepared to crawl into a hole and die? Possibly. Though she quickly collected herself, hands coming by her sides as she came to a stand. “Where are you going?” Mako asks, wincing at the sound of his own voice crack.
Okay, maybe he was stressed. But Y/N wasn’t supposed to know. He’d told Jinora in a panic, and for some reason she’d decided to reveal it— even worse, reveal it in his presence. And in an attempt to salvage his almost decade long friendship with Y/N, he’d resorted to lying, a first for the pair. Things had become so awkward so quickly after Jinora had finished speaking, Mako had a feeling there was no real way to guarantee the preservation of their friendship without ending the possibility of something more.
“Well... we’re done here aren’t we? You’ve cleared up that you—” Y/N clears her throat, gesturing to his awkwardly, “don’t have feelings for me.”
This is not how he had planned for this to go.
“Stay?” Mako asks, lips pressed together to form a thin line, “watch the sunset with me? Like we usually do?”
It was those damned sunsets that had gotten them into this mess. Y/N could remember the first time that they’d come to the top of the Arena— it had been her lousy attempt to get him to enjoy his new home. Her attempt at optimism. It had ended fairly well as it became their thing. Something just between the two of them, some days they sat in silence, others they did work, and others they spoke of things both mundane and deep.
Those times on top of the arena had been the highlight of her day, something she looked forward to.
Right now, Y/N was dreading every minute of it,
Despite herself, Y/N nods, coming back to a seat beside Mako. Crossing her legs as though avoiding all contact with him will allow her to avoid her feelings. Mako seems to take note of this as his eyes fall back on her, rather than the horizon she’d set her own sights on. “I thought you wanted to watch the sunset, not me.”
Her comment leaves his cheeks burning once more as he straightens beside her, gaze turning to the sunset as he replies quietly, “right.”
This time, the silence that engulfs them is an awkward one.
Though it doesn’t last long as Y/N asks, “would it really be that bad?”
Mako decides there’s no point in playing dumb as he replies, “no.” He inhales deeply, “no, it wouldn’t.” Leaning back to rest his weight on his hands, he sighs, “it isn’t.”
The implications of his words leave her mouth gaping open as she turns to him, struggling to find a response as their eyes meet.
She decides pulling him in by the collar and pressing her lips to his is the best response. And evidently, it is. As the pair kisses before the falling sun.
(the legend of korra — romantic! mako x kyoshi warrior! reader)
all you need is a sparring partner and you can’t get anyone better than your former pro bending boyfriend. unfortunately, things don’t go to plan. but hey, what’s life without a little chaos?
cw / fire
a/n — a mako x reader that isn’t angst?? who am i?? but really, kyoshi warrior mako lives in my head rent free, it should live in yours too ! enjoy :) (ps once i write a sokka x reader on this page it is over for you all)
“no."
"what?! you didn't even know what i was going to ask you, mako." you huffed, crossing your arms.
"i don't need to know. the makeup and uniform tells me everything." he smirked, laying a hand on his door before shrugging. you gaped slightly, pointing your finger in the air to argue. when your mind ran empty, you sighed.
“mako, please! asami's on a date with korra, and bolin is out with opal! i could really use the practice." you pleaded, grabbing his hand. he grimaced, adjusting your headpiece.
"you're already great y/n, what more practice could you need? you're the best warrior i know." he admitted, his fingers lingering on your painted cheeks. you nudged his shoulder, flustering.
"i'm the only warrior you know."
"my point still stands. now, what are we doing out here again?"
"i could use the practice. mako, i wouldn't have come out to see you in my uniform if i didn't mean business. it doesn't hurt you to know i miss my boyfriend sometimes. what more fun would it be than to spar? just like old times!" mako nodded, and closed the door. your eyes widened, and you knocked.
“you could have just said no, you know! i would have been perfectly fine with that!" you exclaimed, tapping your foot impatiently. you flailed your arms in the air, and you had begun to walk away when you heard his door open with a click. turning around, you come face to face with mako, who was carrying a duffle bag. you were stunned into silence, and he raised an eyebrow.
“so, where to?"
now situating yourself in the gym of the probending arena (that you both totally didn't intimidate the manager into using), you looked over to mako, who was now clad in a green kimono. he shuffled around, trying to apply the makeup you insisted he wore ("come on, you're already in uniform, which was already a surprise in itself. what's a little paint gonna do? if anything, i think it'll make you look hot.") when you spoke.
"where'd you manage to find a uniform that fit you anyway? we rarely train boys. last i heard suki trained sokka after he begged with her and that was the end of it." he avoided your eyes as you stretched and blushed.
“it's uh, asami's." he admitted sheepishly. you laughed.
"no way! and it fit you?"
"no y/n, it's completely suffocating me from the inside" he joked, smiling as you walked over to him. you tilted his head to take a look at him. red paint was stuck under his eyes, and white was smeared poorly onto his blushing cheeks. you couldn't help but let out a giggle.
"you're doing it wrong, here. let me just-" you dragged him over to a bench. your tongue stuck out in concentration, wiping and smearing paint onto his face as though he were your canvass. he stared at you with doe eyes and a gaping mouth the whole time. though you were too entranced by your lovely work to notice. you clapped your hands and gave him a peck on the lips.
"you look great! let me just put on your headpiece and we can start. do you have one or do you wanna use my training one?" you asked, he shuffled through the bag.
"uh, i'll use your training one. what if you break your headpiece though?" you waved him off.
“i've been training my whole life, i have full faith my headpiece won't break anytime soon. my word has never failed me before." you shrugged, getting up to stand behind him as he still sat.
"that's what you said about the time you sparred with asami and she broke your arm." he hummed when you ran your fingers through his hair. you rolled your eyes.
"okay, well that was because i didn't expect her to go all the way when i asked. but you and i wore matching casts for six weeks! it was worth it if you ask me." you worked your way into tying the headpiece. smiling, you smoothed everything out before hugging him from behind. resting your chin on his shoulder, you wore a smug smirk.
"so, do you need a basic training session before we spar or are we ready?"
“you forget i was a probender sometimes, y/n. bring it."
you couldn't help but smile every time mako threw a punch at you. you really had underestimated his ability to adapt in the kyoshi uniform. you knew it'd help him flow easier when sparring with you, but the probending part of him jumped out effortlessly. he gave you his all, and it surprised you immensely. you'd be lying if you said you didn't want to surrender right then and there.
not that you'd ever say that out loud.
however, in the midst of your thoughts, mako had stopped to check on you. your mind, still in warrior mode freaked out when he was about to lay a hand on your shoulder. deflecting his hand, you took his wrist, pushing him away from you. your sudden movement frightened him, and flames burst through the room. however, the impact of your push was a bit harsh as mako fell on his rear, pulling you down with him.
thank the spirits for your makeup. you felt the heat rushing to your head, and you let go of his wrist quickly. he had been ready to stand when you pulled mako back down, taking him into a sweet, gentle kiss. he stumbled into him, placing his hands to your head, caressing your hair. pulling away, he smirked.
"business, huh?" he asked, and you trailed your finger down his cheeks. you grimaced.
"i also said i missed my boyfriend, you just have selective hearing." you whispered, and his eyes widened. you were in for it now.
as you ran around the gym, mako chased you. when he found you, picking you up from behind, your giggles filled the air. when you saw a black wall, you gasped. hitting mako's arms, he put you down.
"oh my gosh, they're going to kill us." you pointed the wall of the gym, which was now scorched thanks to mako's firebending.
“me? you're the one who wanted to train here!"
"i'm not the one with bending." you frowned, and he sighed.
“okay okay, we'll be okay. we just have to leave before they find out."
"but we're still in our uniforms y/n." he retorted.
"mako, there's no time! we can always change at your place." you countered, swiftly grabbing mako's duffle bag. taking his hand, you didn't wait for a response as you two ran out of the arena. you made it out, and managed to get back to mako's place in record time. wrapping your arms around his torso, he swiftly opened the door. you didn't think you could stumble into any more surprises until you spotted a certain avatar, her pretty business gal, a wide eyed earthbender, and his smiling girlfriend.
bolin snorted, falling into opal as he tried his best to keep his joyous tears at bay. the girls looked to you in amusement. immediately, you looked to your boyfriend.
"not a word about this. ever" he deadpanned.
"so, does this mean we run to the nearest food place and eat there until they've calmed down?" you whispered.
“only if you're paying and we find a way to change before they find us again."
"don't i always? come on, a bowl of seaweed noodles is waiting for us. eat now, worry later." you grabbed his hand, waving bye before running off again. sure, he wasn't in ideal clothing and his friends would never let him hear the end of it, but your pure joy about the situation made everything a little easier to handle.

Mako with Dragon!Hybrid Airbender Reader (Legend of Korra Headcanons)

A/N: Honestly, this is one of the best things I’ve ever written. Thank you so much for requesting it, as it made me feel a lot more confident in my abilities. This idea was great, so don’t feel bad about it! I made it headcanons, but it turned into a scenario anyway, so I hope you enjoy! (Side note: Thanks for 1.5k followers!)

As a hybrid, you were used to the abuse. Abandoned on your streets by horrified parents, you knew how it felt to be abandoned and alone, hated for no reason. The horrible things your ancestors did somehow reflected onto you as you tried to live in the streets of Republic City.
Fighting for food or territory on the streets was always hard; people would take one look at you, see the telltale shifting eyes of a dragon hybrid, and scream at you till you ran for the hills. On your back was only your stolen airbending staff and your ability to shapeshift to keep you alive.
It was on a cold winter night that Lin found you at the age of fourteen, shivering and half-dead, with your eyes shifting rapidly with a plea to change forms to survive. You refused, and barely conscious, you had no will to fight when the Chief of Police led you back to her own home.
From then on, it was like you had a mother again. Though she was hardened to most emotions and rarely ever provided a true warmth, she loved you in her own way. There were times when she would scold you to tears, only to come home later with a small charm or treat as an apology.
She taught you how to use your abilities as best as she could, scouring up airbending scrolls and researching books in the city’s library to learn more about your kind. Lin was eager to be a mother, no matter how much she would deny it in front of others. Deep down, she wanted to make up for her own mother’s mistakes, and in doing so, she became fiercely protective over you. Boys, school, even the occasional social interaction kept Lin on the tips of her toes, wanting to keep you safe but also wanting you to become a strong young woman.
It was four years later that you met Mako, and he was almost as aloof as Lin. Every time he saw you, he would either greet you formally with a head nod or completely ignore your existence.
You spent your pastime at the police station, reading through cases or reorganizing files, doing whatever you could get your hands on really. In these times, that’s when Mako would watch you from the corner of his eye. Your eyes would flutter and gleam with excitement as you read through criminals’ stories, and he’d be lying if he said it wasn’t adorable.
In the pit of his chest, he felt an urge to talk to you, get to know you better. So greetings turned into personal questions. Questions turned into lunchtime conversations. Lunchtime conversations turned into dates, and dates turned into a relationship.
As the first guy you had ever really talked to, you were kind of nervous around him. Blushes and anxious glances weren’t uncommon on your end, but Mako loved to see them.
One day, he returned from a particularly dangerous mission and stomped into the station looking like a mess. His hair was ruffled, his uniform was covered in dirt and dust, and his eyes were darting around in a frantic manner. It was only when they landed on you that you figured out what he was looking for. Not saying a word, he marched towards you and cupped your face in his hands. Your mouth opened in question, but before you could speak, he pressed his lips to yours in a passionate, desperate first kiss.
Though Lin wasn’t particularly pleased about the two of you, she had grown to admire how protective Mako was of you. Him being a skilled firebender only helped her feel more reassured. You, meanwhile, had grown tired of their coddling.
Both of them treated you like a baby bird that had fallen out of the nest. Whenever someone threw you dirty glances in the street, both of them had a nasty habit of glaring and sneering. Mako is never averse to throwing a ball of fire at someone who is particularly troubling.
“I can handle myself.”
“I know, I know.”
But did they?
You wanted to prove yourself. Show that as a trained airbender who had fought for her life tooth and nail on the streets, you could handle taking care of yourself when it mattered. So one night, you joined them on a mission.
“You’re not coming.”
“The hell I’m not! I can take care of myself-- I’m not a little girl anymore!”
Mako kept silent as you argued with Lin, but his teeth gritted at the thought of you being in harm’s way. If you were coming, there was no way in hell he was going to let something happen to you.
“Fine. You can come. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Your eyes widened and you turned to your boyfriend with a victorious grin, only for it to falter at the sight of him avoiding your gaze and leaving the room.
You wanted to ask, but deep down you already knew what he would say. Yes, you loved that he cared so much for you and your safety, but you really didn’t want Debby Downer to ruin your excitement for your first mission. After Lin’s reluctant acceptance, Mako avoided you like the plague, only acknowledging your existence with an outstretched hand behind him as you and the rest of the squad of police snuck up to the criminal activity.
It was a gang, and one you had learned of quite a bit during your adolescent years in the cold city. They were benders trying to overthrow the government, starting first with robbing small homes and moving up to threatening local businesses with a “safety tax.”
“I can do this, I can do this, I can do this,” you breathed out, practically buzzing with excitement behind a frustrated Mako. In the sunlight of what was only twelve noon, you could see the tension between his shoulders so much that it urged you to lodge a stick between the blades. You didn’t, but God did you want to.
“Get down!”
Your squadron had been spotted, peering out from behind an alley wall and peeking in on what was the gang’s main leaders divvying up their most recent haul.
Fire almost singed your skin before Mako tugged you to the ground, forcing your head against the pavement while he shot back his own flames. Lin, who had been at the front of the squad, had charged into the thick of it, arms raised and ready to fight.
There were about fifteen enemies in all, and with your group of ten soldiers-- excluding you-- Mako felt like they could take them.
Without warning, he rose to his feet and dashed into the fight breaking out in the intersection between four lines of buildings. The scent of blood and smoke hit you like a wave of nausea as soon as you lifted your head and scrambled to your feet.
C’mon, YN, it’s your chance! Let’s do this!
Running into the battle was like diving into a murky pool headfirst. You should have known the water would be shallow.
The pavement beneath your feet rumbles and lifts, taking you and your yelp along with it. Just before it crashes into the nearest building, you tap your staff once and take flight, soaring through the air while searching for the nearest predator.
A man that seemed ten times larger than you blasted a line of fire right towards your form, but you blew it right back into his face with a laugh.
“Haha, how’d you like that!”
When your feet hit the ground, you jumped into action. A man-- a waterbender according to the sliver of ice that almost impaled your stomach-- came at you first. You twisted your hands and twirled your staff just enough that a gush of wind pushed him back into an alley dumpster, knocking him unconscious at the slightest contact.
“Damn, I’m good! Can anyone explain why I’m so good?” You beamed, jabbing the butt end of your wooden staff into another mobster that tried to sneak up behind you. He toppled into his friend like dominoes, and just when you pounced over to land the final blow-- oh.
Ouchie
A white, hot bubble of pain burst in your chest, forcing you to let out a bloodcurdling scream. Your eyes flickered, narrowing and widening uncontrollably. No, not here!
“Dirty hybrid piece of shit! Go back to hell where you belong!”
Evidently, this gang member had done his research. As a shifter, there was a little nick right along your spine, just below where your wings would grow, that was almost like a failsafe. This man had bullseyed it like no other.
Your nervous system tingled enough to leave you paralyzed, dropping to the floor like dead weight and twitching face-first in your own puddle of pain. The only things you could do now were blink and whimper, but you cried out brokenly when he dug the pick of ice deeper into your back.
“YNNN!”
The infuriated roar of your name almost distracted you from the liquid seeping out and painting the concrete a deep red. A wave of heat, so quick and harsh it blew the hair stuck to the back of your neck away and up into your face.
Groans and screams of pain accompanied what could only have been the sounds of people being burned alive. A mewl of fright left your mouth at the sight of a charred body collapsing right across from your turned head. From the smell of it, that man was a little past well-done.
“YN!” Hands patted your face and felt down your body before their owner grunted at the feeling of cooling blood. “YN! Can you breathe? Please, say something!”
Mako’s face appeared in your blurring vision as he pressed two fingers in your neck, feeling the panic-stricken pulse.
“LIN, GET HELP! CALL SOMEONE!”
The shout was so loud, so cracked up with fear that it was almost painful to listen to.
Mako’s thumb then rubbed your cheek in what he must’ve thought was a comforting manner. Instead, you only cringed at the feeling of his uncontrolled body temperature making your forehead break a sweat.
“You’re gonna be okay,” he cooed, but his orange eyes betrayed the words. It’s not that he thought they were wrong, it’s that he hated only getting to hope they were right.
“Mako,” you whispered, disgusted at the mindless drool that pooled out after.
“Shh, YN, you’re gonna be okay. I’m not losing you.”
“Mako,” you pressed, as loud as you could muster with your face weighed down against the scraping concrete. “I love you, okay?”
“No, YN, don’t say it like that.” You understood how he felt. With the way you said it, it sounded more like a goodbye than a confession.
“I’m sorry.”
Then the darkness consumed you.
~~~ (oops, this turned into a scenario)
Not-so-silent whispers tugged you out of your sleep like a fish on a hook. The first thing you felt was nothing.
It’s true. Your body was numb from all feeling, even as you blindly waggled your toes and fingers. Then you opened your eyes and hissed at the blinding light that always accompanied a hospital room.
Tingles, pricks like sharp nails filled your limbs as you moved them more and more, and when you turned your head to find the source of the whispers, you found another pressed against the cushion of your stiff bed.
Mako was sound asleep, the idea given away by the steady inhales and exhales that forced their ways through the tissue-like material of your mattress every few seconds. And just when your fingers prickled too, you noticed his hand was up on the bed and was grasping yours tightly.
You didn’t care enough to search through your surroundings for more; instead, you settled for smiling and reaching your other hand over to dip into his dark hair.
A sudden rip of pain spread through your back at the movement, and you couldn’t hold back the yelp that came along for the ride. Without another word, Mako was up at attention, sitting with a straight back in his chair as his other hand slammed down on the bed. Two more bodies appeared on your other side, one of which being Lin.
“YN, are you okay?!”
“You’re never doing that again!”
Mako’s concerned face and Lin’s stern but worried one both added to the growing headache that pierced right through your temples.
“Ugh, I’m fine, I’m fine. Just gimme some space, you guys.”
Neither seemed too eager to please, as they both stayed tight exactly where they were.
“YN,” a gentler, calmer tone caught your eye, and a doctor just about Lin’s age gave you a pleasant smile, “how are you feeling?”
Where Lin’s skin was smooth and unmarked, the doctor’s was creased with years of practiced smiles and reassuring looks.
“Just about as good as a sack of shit. Do I look as pretty as I feel?”
With a patient chuckle, the doctor dismissed the question and hopped right into things. Daily rewraps around the wound, combined with a bullet-biting pinch of disinfectant every twelve hours and Republic City’s newest horse pills, more bitter than the smell of dried sweat that hung in the air.
The doctor encouraged Lin to follow him for the treatments, and after a kiss to your forehead and a little head pat, she did as much. When the door clicked shut after her was when Mako pounced.
“Don’t scare me like that, YN. I thought I lost you.”
His arms were folded in an attempted scolding, but the slight tremble of his lower lip broke down the facade.
“You can’t get rid of me that easily,” you snorted, reaching for his hand and trying not to tear your stitches. He did as you wanted and let you encourage him closer with a small tug.
“Good,” he whispers, leaning down and cupping your cheek with the other hand. You lean into the hold, relishing in the comfort it provides.
“Shit, Mako, why can’t you be colder? My skin feels like it’s on fire.”
“I thought hybrids like heat?”
“Yeah, well not this hot!”
“But isn’t that what you like about me?”
You smack his arm and he lets out a chuckle, leaning closer only to brush his lips against yours.
“Cocky bastard,” you jab before pulling him into a real kiss.
A/N: Yes, the things I wrote in my Korassami fics are transferred in here. I've had these headcanons since I started writing Korrasami fics, I can't let go of them.
SOKKA
Is all about that pillow talk. There might be a humble brag thrown in somewhere in there, but generally speaking he wants to make sure you're okay. He's really tuned into how you talk to him after, he's clinging onto every word you as as hard as he's clinging onto you. Starts to sound a bit sleepy as he rambles on, eventually drifting off to sleep next to you.
ZUKO
Doesn't want to make it sound like he's fishing for compliments and praise but he is. Constantly in fact, during the act and especially after. He likes to know he did good, he might have seen it, felt it, but he wants you to let him know even more. His hand is holding yours while he pulls you next to him and he kisses your forehead, affirming to you that he had a good time too.
KORRA
Would really like to cuddle but not before she fetches food and water for you both. It's really important that you both keep your energies up. You never know if you might want a round 2, or 3, or 4. So it's always good to eat and drink afterwards. She will bite and lick your fingers if you try to feed her anything and if you try to steal her food you'll find yourself pinned against the bed.
ASAMI
Smirks at you as she counts the many lipstick marks she left on your body. Her finger tickling you, making you shiver under her touch and she likes it, she likes how easy it is to tease you, wind you up. Maybe she's doing it purposely, maybe she's just helping you calm down and likes the physical contact. Either way she'll leave at least one mark for you to see when you walk up to the mirror.
BOLIN
Pulls you on top of him and snuggles his face against your neck. Don't tell him about the sweat or any other fluids, he doesn't mind one bit, he wants to cuddle with you now. He always makes you feel safe and appreciated, even if he does get rougher if you ask him for some roleplay, he is an actor after all. But he is also mindful not to hold you too hard, he doesn't want to hurt you.
MAKO
Never admits how much he likes the scratch marks you leave on his back, arms and thighs but you always catch him looking at them in the mirror afterwards. As soon as he notices you're fully awake again he rushes to kiss you deeply, his tongue seeking yours. Usually he's pretty stoic but in bed he's always passionate. He wants to return all the affection you show to him on the regular basis.
