hey, so… Avatar AUs…?

see, this person (@giantrubbermako) opened my eyes to new possibilities with her “Red Lotus AU”, where Bolin and Mako get snatched from the streets by the Red Lotus.

that AU alone has too many possibilities, but kinda too lazy to write them. Check out that person’s idea of the AU if you really want content! (Just remind me later to return and expand on my own ideas for such AU)

then there’s an AU inspired by a very old (and abandoned) fic where Bolin learns to lavabend early, while he and Mako were on their days with the gang (don’t remember what they’re called, really… sorry ppl), and Lin learned about it.

eventually, after investigating of the robberies that had a lavabender in them (and after crossing out Ghazan cause he didn’t escape prison [yet]), Lin finds those two rascals holding each other while the police took the gang members away.

BOOM!

those two are now adopted by the chief of police.

Tbh, there are a TON of AU ideas about those two’s days on the streets, and being adopted (or just taken in or used) are very much unlimited. I could have them be taken in by Unalaq, even!

But, one interesting idea would be Toph. Imagine her taking the two in before she booked it to the swamp?

PEAK benders Bolin and Mako are on their way, baby!

She’d probably have a big problem with their rebellious attitudes by the time they’re late-teens (most likely to be Bolin, since Mako is a more grounded one and probably would want to stay with Toph for longer, while Bolin is just BEGGING).

also, there’s a possibility of one dying. Maybe Bolin while they were on the streets, being too hungry to continue on?

maybe Mako when on the streets, protecting Bolin from the gang they were (or ARE) in?

dying of sickness, being made into nothing but merchandise by the pro-bending manager that took them in, dying in the middle of a battle, dying while trying to stop the lava (no lavabender-Bolin in that AU lmao), no Mako surviving after destroying the spirit thing-y in Kuvira’s robot (Bolin came back to get him, DUH, but that didn’t mean Mako survived the shock), being used as nothing but weapons (most likely by the earth nation. We saw what they did with airbenders, after all), be kidnapped by a psychopath of a scientist…

and so, so, SO much more.

maybe I’ll return for these later, when I have time and I’m not tired. But for now, that’s all I have.

Mako and Bolin redesign challenge for myself!

AU where they both stayed with the Triple Threat Triad >:)

Idk what would have had to happen for their characters to take this route, but this was really fun practice. Their proportions are a little off... Mako should either be taller with a smaller head, or Bolin should be shorter with a bigger head, but I'm not getting paid for this so I'm leaving it as is, lol.
