I decided to start doing posts with little headcanons (Or irlcanons??) about the godly characters in order to let you guys know more about them, so feel free to send asks with characters you’d like to see more about!

* I’ve mentioned this a few times, but Jula is really huge on journaling. The only really consistent thing in their life is that they like to keep a journal where they write about their thoughts an experiences and goals and such. They have a bunch of really old glittery pens they use to write in it.

* Malicai had two hounds back when he was a god, Cain and Bella. They are trapped in the underworld as guard hounds since he lost his powers, and he misses the dearly. 

* Malicai has trouble being supportive of Jula sometimes. They’re usually really independent, and he’s spent the last seventeen years watching over them and looking after them. Malicai hates the thought of Jula getting injured, and struggles to keep that from getting in the way of their friendship

I tried to imagine it, myself becoming some powerful god, immortal and strong. In my own mind, I was just a scrawny, weak, mixed-race shelter kid. But if Malicai thought I was destined to become a god, I wasn't going to argue.

"I have one more question," I said. "Well, for now, I'll probably have more later."

Malicai  nodded, surprisingly not making a face like I was the biggest inconvenience in his life.

"Why are you here?" I realized how that sounded, and elaborated

NEXT -  “They’re all coming after you, Jules. It isn’t safe here anymore.”

POV -

Malicai sat atop the roof of the youth shelter, listening to the signalling of feet against cement. He knew it was Jula, probably coming home from the park where he studied after classes. 

Malicai had smelt the Dracan before it had even entered the city, knew it was in the alley somewhere below, waiting for it’s victim. Waiting to change out of the form of a venomous snake and into an even more venomous monster. 

Seconds passed, the footsteps stopped. When Jula talked to the snake, Malicai could only let out a quiet, fond, laugh. Of course Jula would try to talk their way out of a confrontation with a monster. 

Malicai was prepared, had his sword at the ready and already knew where and how to drop. They had done this hundreds of times before, dropping into the middle of a heard of prey in the woods just in time to snag the perfect meal. But, when he heard what could have only been the sound of a shifting Dracan, he still paused. He listened, trying to gather what was going on below, how well Jula was doing in the fight. Jula had gained some pretty good defensive skill living in the streets, but this was still a monster, and Malicai wanted to know how much potential Jula really had. So many people had high expectations for them.

Malicai just about jumped at the sound of a human shout, knew that must have come from their friend. But for another moment, they waited, heard the sound of a loud explosion before a massive thud, the sound of bones breaking. 

And then, without any hesitation, Malicai jumped.
